From the "obviously FALSE ADVERTISING" department: I'm about to organize a class action law suit against Convenience Stores that have signs that say "Pay at the Pump".... but when you put your card in, you get a message, "Please See Cashier"... Telling the public it's a convenience store when there's nothing convenient about having to go inside to get the pump working, then having to go back to start the pump... then having to go back inside to pay for for it...while using the same card the pump wouldn't accept in the beginning. There's no truth in their advertisement signs that say, "Convenience Store" or "Pay at the Pump"... LET'S SUE!!!

Spent the weekend in Birmingham at the wedding of one of my daughters dear childhood friend...Fortunately, the wedding fun outweighed to ineptness of the Sheraton.Marriott Birmingham! Following are notes:

1 - Noise. even on the 12th floor of the Birmingham Sheraton, night street noise and I-20 was ridiculous! The hotel did have a "White noise machine" in the room, but it added more noise than it "camouflaged".

2 - I'm not sure I'll ever get over the disappointment we had in the Birmingham Sheraton hotel...twice we got to our room and discovered neither of our card-keys worked.. upon inquiring at the front desk, we were informed "we had checked out".. but only from 1 of the 2 rooms we had booked (we were there for a wedding and our youngest daughter was a bridesmaid) . We did get an "excuse" the second time, but it was even worse than getting the 'it's not my problem shoulder shrug from an I-don't-care-employee'. A person on the lead team of the new USFL administration who had been living in the Sheraton for the past 40 days preparing for the opening game on April 26th informed me that the problem is that the hotel is owned by the City and only managed by the Marriott. In my book, it the "hands-on" folks that are responsible for the problems... and the solutions...To be honest, if I'd known in advance it was run by the Marriott, I'd have booked elsewhere.

3 - In this day and time, I could not believe that the Sheraton-Marriott DID NOT HAVE STREAMING TV!

4 - It's been 30 years since I went to Birmingham...it'll be at least that long before I go again for a weekend stay.... especially in a DT hotel like the Sheraton.. check in was horrid...twice.. we had to leave once and come back...and the rooms were part of a wedding block... and parking was atrocious...at $35.00 a night....
