(WRBL) – Heavy police and Fire & EMS presence has been reported at the Wilson Apartments on 8th Avenue. * Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Charles Newton confirms there has been one death at the apartments. * Columbus Police Sgt. Aaron Evrard says he is unable to comment." -- "death investigation"? Police cars and a Coroner do not show up in swarms for "deaths".. they show up for HOMICIDES... and with an election coming up next month.. the rash of homicides soaring on top of a record.. a dubious record at that.. of homicides in 2021.. Using "death" instead of homicide/murder sounds as if some politically needy/desperate person has asked to media to soft-peddle a dire situation...

WRBL-TV3 headline/story: "Mayor’s Commission for Re-Entry aims to integrate formerly incarcerated people back into our community * With a labor shortage plaguing most of the country, the need for workers is at an all-time high, but what if one question on an application is making employers view an entire group as un-hirable? * The Mayor’s Commission for Re-Entry, which is a group of partner organizations working together to assist adults who are exiting local and state incarceration facilities and their families, is aiming to break the stigma through the “ban the box” initiative. * If you’ve ever applied for a job, you’ve probably been asked about your criminal history." -- Sounds like more media co-operation with a needy/desperate person with an election coming up in May.. Eliminating "the box" is not what is needed.. employers NEED to know the criminal past of applicants, and "the box" WORKS for BOTH the applicants AND employers as it puts "all the cards face up on the table".. Now, as a suggestion, what could be of help for both the applicant AND employer would be "another box" ... one that asks the applicants have they been CHARGED/ARRESTED with any additional crime(s) since finishing their jail time.. that would indicate to an employer that the applicant was making an effort to change their past...

Reading through the MCSD High School graduation schedule, something caught my eye as "huh?".. It was the address used for the Columbus Civic Center...400 4th Street. This was the first time I think I've ever seen this address used... I think of the Civic Center being on Victory Drive at the intersection of Veterans Parkway which, in my book, is about as prestigious an address as a military town can give a public building. Then I got a map out, and . sure enough, there's a half mile or so of what O consider "Victory Drive" that's still marked "4th Street".. It's also known as Highway 280 and 27. I know the City cleared up the various stretches of what's now Veterans Parkway by removing the 4th Ave/Beallwood Connector/Hamilton Road sections and making all of hem "Veterans Parkway. Hey Council.. how about cleaning up this quagmire, too. Imagine how impressive it would be to rename the Oglethorpe Bridge roadway as "VICTORY DIVE" as it leads to the entrance of Ft Benning!

WTVM-TV9 headline/story: "DETAILS: 12-year-old Columbus boy shot to death ruled as accidental"-- Seriously?... ruling the shooting death of a 12 year old "accidental" in this case takes none of the sting out of a homicide.... nor should it such a ruling reduce the punishment of the killer...It was no "accident" that the gun was present!
