When John House was representing at-large Council Post 10, he sent out a monthly news letter keeping us informed of Council “doings”. I had great hope when his appointed replacement started doing the same, but there is a difference.. while House’s monthly memo kept us informed, Begly’s monthly missive appears to be more propaganda oriented, trying to “sell” his Council decisions “after the fact” .. What’s he’s leaving out about the Golden Park $50,000,000.00 restoration is that Columbus property owners are on the hook for $424,000.00 a month ($5,088,000.00 annually, $101,760,000 for the duration) for 20 years, while renting the stadium out for $250,000 per year ($20,833.333.00 per month, $5,000,000.00 for 20 years). But something else is wrong with the thought of the project costing $50,000,000.00… WHY! There’s a major 9,800 sq ft home in North Columbus on more than enough acreage to build a baseball field and parking spaces with a FMV (Fair Market Value) of about $4.25 Million… while the City already OWNS the property where Golden Park is situated!

One of my BC readers has come up with a pretty good question: “wonder if the city will re name Golden Park to Henderson Park at Hughley Field?” I’d add former Mayor Queen TT Tom-LYING-son’s name to the “Ladies Facilities” so we’d have consistency at both ends of the RiverWalk…well.. at least the baseball park one would be open sometimes…

I’m guessing, the next “newcomer” gift will be a voting card!
