Hmmm... was watching news Friday, and a White House official was asked if the border skirmish at El Paso between the Texas National Guard and mostly Venezuelan illegal aliens should be classified as an "invasion"... He looked at the reporter and spewed a 'word salad' of definition denial... Gotta “heads up” from Mark Rice at the Columbus GA Ledger-Enquirer.. 3 years ago, a movie, “Neon Highway” was filmed in Columbus, Harris County, and Ft. Benning (though now known as Ft Moore) starring Beau Bridges.. While it is now showing in a Ft Moore (formerly known as Ft Benning) theater, it’s not showing… nor scheduled to be… at our Columbus, GA “AMC Theaters” locations… NONE of them… what an insult to our City! You would think AMC Theaters would have brought this movie in with fanfare! You’d have thought AMC Theaters would recognize the opportunity to “connect” even better with local movie fans.. I hope Columbus’ Mayor Skippy and his Council Choir will approach AMC Theaters, with fervor, to reconsider their decision. Besides, the City will create more local sales tax revenues!

While I’m on the subject, Michael Caine retired from film making with his last flick, “The Great Escaper”, about an 89-year old British vet who “escaped” from his nursing home in 2014 to attend the 70th Anniversary of D-Day.. AMC Theaters has neither shown nor scheduled this either. Michaele Caine is one of my favorite actors.. period.. as he is to my bride, daughters and 12 year-old granddaughter (who adored him in “Miss Congeniality” and “Secondhand Lions”). I went send a donation to a particular candidate, one I personally trust, to send him a donation... but when I entered my info, I learned that only half I sent would go to the candidate I wanted to support. The other half would be distributed to other candidates that I may not want to support.. Oh! And 4% of my online donation would go into paying a fee for some other company to process my donation. I immediately bailed out of the transaction.. I want my donations to go only to the people I personally support, and I'm not going to pay a 4% fee to use my debit card on line! For that matter, I’m not doing it at restaurants, either!
