Now, with the influx of of Uber and Lyft drivers, the available "rides" has jumped from less that 14,000 "medallioned" cabs to over 80,000 "available" tides, taxi "medallions" have fallen to as low as $160,000.00. Speaking of our neighborhood, we had a tremendous visit Tuesday evening from representatives of our various Public Safety Department.. all the kids (from a few months up to those in into their 80's) on the block were excited as vehicles and friends from the Police, Sheriff, Marshal, EMT's, et al offices roared in with lights and sirens preceding them, as a helicopter roared above.. cookies, lemonade, and watermelon were shared and enjoyed by all. I don't watch any regular fare/news on CBS as it is.. but now it looks like I will have to give up some SEC football games and golf.. Acura pissed me off when it notified us that my wife's GPS system needed a new $149.00 map disc to update her system.. we had already had arguments when her system suggested one route and my always up-to-date Smartphone system, but when the first "offer came through, I then understood the reason.. and was pissed.. Now, a few months later, Acura is offering that new disc at $49.00.. I thought, if I had paid for the $149.00 update earlier, and found out that less than 6 months later it was being offered at $49.00, I think I might have had some REAL CHOICE words about Acura.. Actually, I do have some, but that was said when I decided "no more Acuras for us".

Being interested in the swearing in of John House as our new at Large Councilor, I lingered on CGC-TV to hear updates on Westville as it's a project I support..Then the update on what renovating the softball complex would involve. I saw the figure of $5.6 Million thrown about...then I heard what needed to be done, and realized most of it should have been just routine maintenance over the years.. once again, taxpayers money has been wasted by not keeping the facilities safe and clean. We definitely need a forensic audit done now...(just to see how bad all the other facilities are) , and more audits scheduled on a set basis every 2 or 3 years so that Council knows what priorities should be in budgeting. Money for new projects should not be committed when existing facilities need to be kept up properly. And look at what our pools systems are undergoing..

Ironically, Columbus has 4 pools that can't hold water. and a Government Center that does...talk about a legacy DISASTER for Mayor Tom-LYING-son!

 

This should be a warning worth remembering.. we know present elected leadership does not maintain existing Columbus public facilities, so..why should we let them build a new Government Center?

Sanity must prevail concerning the roundabout at River Road. At triple (originally $1.5 MILLION; now $4.5 Million) the initial projected costs, there are other alternatives that could be afforded..a bridge over the intersection...or 300 hundred yards of lane expansion north of the intersection. It's taken 6 years of revisions to get to a plan that still want... can't...guarantee a safe traffic pattern when logging trucks are involved, and it looks like research into similar construction sites hasn't been done. I reported using a 4 four access roundabout in Gordonsville, VA that one of the roads "yield sign" has been replaced by a "stop sign" because of too many accidents.. doing it now is mighty convenient for the Mayor's exit. She will be praying.. perhaps even getting involved .. to keeping the ROUNDABOUT from being finished BEFORE her 2020 run at Sen. Perdue.

We're talking about long-term investments that basically insure the growth of the economy.. Sure, seed money to start a new, or prop up a struggling company are made by wealthy people.. they are the job providers... their vision drives their investments...the investments are made for long-term value.. why should n't they get rewarded by mentoring and supporting a company so jobs are insured for many.... but there[s another set of long-term investors... pension plan beneficiaries... people who put aside their after tax savings into retirement accounts, and draw them out later in life..reducing the capital gain taxes is only fair.. their money has been invested in companies also.. and what the MSM-10/DIMocrats coalition doesn't want is for anyone to consider is that every investment could end up worthless, and people taking the risk are completely out of the money they invested, and that it's the risk factor of profit vs loss that drives investments in our country..
