Online story: "Hillary Rodham Clinton, whose lifelong public service career includes turns as secretary of state, presidential candidate, senator and first lady, is the recipient of the 2013 Liberty Medal." -- It would only be fitting, or perhaps 'more fitting', that Jane Fonda present it. Either that or give it to the families of the SEALs who died at Benghazi to see if they thought she deserved it.

---

Online story:"WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court has thrown out lower court rulings that blocked a Texas voter identification law and the state's political redistricting plans as discriminatory." -- The US Supreme Court at least got this one right, but who noticed... everybody left the building in disgust (or "lust", in some cases) on Tuesday and missed the "hail Mary" shot.

---

Online story: "British and Italian researchers reviewed the use of lithium in treating mood disorders. They found the drug is effective in preventing suicide, possibly reducing the risk 60-percent." -- Hmmm, wonder how many will die sticking their fingers into electricity outlets 'trying to recharge themselves'?

---

Aaron Hernandez... 23... just signed a $40 MILLION dollar pro football contract... some prison will no doubt welcome this professional tight end.

---

Online story: "An appeals court (unanimously) said Thursday that Hobby Lobby and a sister company that sells Christian books and supplies can fight the nation's new health care law on religious grounds, ruling the portion of the law that requires them to offer certain kinds of birth control to their employees is particularly onerous, and suggesting the companies shouldn't have to pay millions of dollars in fines while their claims are considered." -- Too bad this will end up in the current (or worse) Supreme Court, and some body will claim it discriminates against homosexuals and lesbians. Wait a minute, why do homosexuals and lesbians need birth control?

---

It's a shame but DUMBERats think moral power is determined by votes. This explains why DUMBERats will make immoral and amoral entitlement promises knowing they can't/won't keep.

---

Guess I'll be learning more daily as the msinstream media is not blocking info as usual. The IRS employees' union gave major political donations to the DUMBERat hierarchy . How can that be legal? I'm of the school that doesn't think any level government employee should be able to vote on candidates that determine their pay level/scale.

---

Another thing I just learned. I remember the militant black takeover of the ROTC building at Columbia U. back in 1969, but I didn't realize until today is that Eric Holder, yeah, our Attorney General, was one of the armed mob that did that.

---

From the "just heard about this" department: Heard on Fox & Friends that the military recipe for "brownies" is 30 pages long. Most, of course, is government disclosures but the most futile entry is one the detailed parameters of how big nuts will and can be

---

Mayor Bloom-ing-idiot-berg has now reduced the "yellow" light from 3 seconds to 2.5 seconds at camera-manned traffic lights. This is an obvious "trap" for ticket revenue. All such lights are affected regardless of the speed limit at those intersections, so the braking point to stop varies at each traffic light.

---

California schools are going to "teach" high school students about ObamaCare so they can go home and "teach" their parents about it. Shades of the Communist/Nazi Manifestos.

---

Bomber Brother 2 was charged today, not right after he and his brother blew up families on April 15th. Now preparation for his trial will begin. They ought to be preparing his gallows for a public execution.

---

The Bomber Brother #2's prosecutorial team is two women. Yeah, that'll sooth Muslims rage in continuing their jihadists actions in our country.

---

Judas 00-bama closed the White House to tours by Scouts, Safety Patrollers, and family vacationers, but opened it up to a radical Islamist Sheik Abdullah bin Bayyah who's boss is actually banned from coming into our country!

---

Judas 00-bama ran on a promise of being 'transparent'. What's 'apparent' is that he's on the run from his promise.

---

Benghazi is the target of all these new scandals coming to light. Judas 00-bama needs to keep the Clinton's quiet on other issues, so 00-bama is diverting the faux pas at Benghazi in hopes it will be forgotten and not bite her on the butt in 2016.

HuffPost headline: "Star witness returns to stand in Zimmerman trial * Rachel Jeantel, a friend of Trayvon Martin's who was on the phone with him shortly before his fatal encounter with George Zimmerman, testified for the second day Thursday. * What she says were Trayvon's last words to her" -- Well, at least the HuffPost didn't say it like this (as usual): "Trayvon's last words were" in a definitive concept.
---
From news reports in the Zimmerman trial, reporters have mentioned that the jury is listening intently to both Zimmerman's lawyer's questions and the star witness's answers. This is good for Zimmerman AND justice.
---
Hmmm, that 346,000 1st time unemployment filers, that's only a week's number. We have 52 weeks a year, so that means we can expect 18,000,000 people to make this filing I'm the next 12 months. That's on top of the already unemployed.
---
The latest "first time unemployment filings" number is higher (346,000) than expected. Hmmm, must be all those folks who jumped back into the job search after their benefits ran out, and are now reapplying for new benefits.
---
Fox & Friends featured a bed with a MSRP of $170,000.00. The manufacturer says he's sold one already. Hmmm, who bought it Eliot Spitzer? Or maybe Michelle Obama to replace the old one in the Lincoln Bedroom?
---
From "the what's new?" department: "U.S. efforts to help rebuild Haiti after the devastating 2010 earthquake have been plagued by poor planning, delays and mistaken cost estimates that have forced many projects to be scaled back, the Government Accountability Office has concluded in a report released this month. * Of the $651 million Congress allocated for Haiti reconstruction to the U.S. Agency for International Development, only $204 million has been spent three years later. And much of that has gone to questionable use, the GAO found." -- Now we know where IRS rejects get employed.
---
L-E story: "Columbus Public Library staff members Thursday placed the following notice on the windshields of cars whose drivers they spotted heading toward the adjacent City Service Center: “THIS IS LIBRARY PARKING ONLY. CITY SERVICES CUSTOMERS MUST USE CITY SERVICES PARKING GARAGE. VEHICLES WILL BE TOWED!” -- Wait a minute... I pay more in property taxes to the MCSD than I do the city... so does every one else who owns property (well, outside the "B.I.D." area). Hmmm, maybe WE should hire Ron White and give him a bonus IF he can FIX "stupid"!
---
L-E story: "The Columbus Ice Rink will be closed for July and August to make repairs to a leaking floor heating system, Columbus Civic Center Manager Ross Horner said Thursday. * The repair will cost about $6,500, Horner said, and revenues lost for the two months, which he estimated at between $25,000-$35,000, should be easily offset by utility savings." -- Wait a minute...GA Power is making more on this venture than the City is getting in revenues? I don't recall this seeing the light of day before.
---
Low-info L-E "soundoff": "Are those against abortions willing to adopt one of the unwanted babies? " -- Hmmm, guess those dead babies will not get the opportunity to find out.
---
L-E story: " DAKAR, Senegal — Laying bare a clash of cultures, President Barack Obama on Thursday urged African leaders to extend equal rights to gays and lesbians but was bluntly rebuked by Senegal’s president, who said his country “still isn’t ready” to decriminalize homosexuality. " -- Hmmm, what'll be Judas 00-bama's next move.. offer political asylum to the Senegalese or ask the Senegal president how he stands on the slave trade?
---
L-E story: "BOSTON — Boston Marathon suspect D------ T-------- downloaded bomb-making instructions from an al-Qaida magazine, gathered online material on Islamic jihad and martyrdom," -- The NSA knows who I talked with and e-mailed, but didn't have Bomber Brothers 1 & 2 under close watch?
---
Did you notice how quickly the L-E moved the George Zimmerman trial to the page A5 - top-right corner? After listening to the "star witness", the L-E doesn't want any one to read it so it chose the A5- top right corner to report the follow-up testimony. A5- top right corner is about as unnoticed as any spot in the paper.
---
From the L-E's "Looking back | Fifty years ago today, June 28, 1963: " Negro Pastors Urge Race Peace * A group of 40 local Negro ministers has issued a statement opposing desegregation demonstrations and calling on “citizens who live here” to work for continued racial progress. * The ministers are members of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Columbus and Phenix City." -- 50 years later, we are asking, "What happened with these goals?"
---
L-E headline: "COLUMBUS UNEMPLOYMENT RATE * Metro area jobless rate rises to 8.5% in May * More residents, including recent grads, jumping into job market, labor department says " -- Hmm, maybe it's because federal and state entitlement programs aren't keeping up with inflation?
---
L-E "headlie" : "Senators say student loan interest rates will double " -- Hmm, if the Republicans were the Senate majority, the headline in the L-E would have been, "Republicans demand student loan interest rates will double ".
---
Good grief! In redirect, the prosecutor asks the star witness if she knew that Trayvon Martin's name was misspelled in the letter someone else wrote for her. Huh? In cross examination, she demonstrated she couldn't read cursive. How could she know that Trayvon's name was spelled the correct way?

---

The "star" witness is 19. She is a rising Senior in high school this fall. She'll be 20 before she is graduated out of public school. She's basically wrapped up in her 15 minutes of fame before the trial. She's probably regretting it now.

---

Zimmerman's lawyer has a fine line to walk I'm handling the girl, uh, 19 year old woman who is the prosecutor's star witness. She's so rapt up at being the focus of the Martin "defense" that Zimmerman's lawyer cannot come off as bullying this obviously confused and unreliable witness.

---

Fox News had a defense attorney (a Steve Raiser) commenting on the Trayvon Martin trial and talking about details favoring the prosecutor's case. The other commentator parsing Zimmerman's side ate Raiser up on his misrepresenting the degree of injuries Zimmerman suffered.

---

L-E headline: "Suspect shoots at woman on Third Avenue with pistol" -- Hmmm, glad to know it was a gun... I might have gone all day thinking she was shot at by a brick.

---

A fellow BCer suggested we end today with confirmation as observed on July 26, 1920:

"As democracy is perfected, the office of the President represents,
more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and
glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's
desire at last and the White House will be occupied by a downright
fool and complete narcissistic moron."

H.L. Mencken -
(born 1880 - died 1956) was a journalist, satirist, critic, and Democrat.

He was referring to Woodrow Wilson, but I'm sure would consider today's edition more appropriate.
