HuffPOOPOO headline: "It's so cold outside that people's windows are breaking in the US and Canada" -- Dang that Global Warming stuff!

Online headline/story: "TSA now waiting until 2020 before it forces some Americans to use a passport to fly domestically * ID requirements for air travel were set to change in January 2018. * Nine states' IDs were not in compliance with the Real ID Act requirements, which meant that travelers from those states would be required to use their passport to fly domestically. * The new ID requirements are detailed by the REAL ID Act. Among other things, the 2005 law outlines new federal requirements that must be met in order for state-issued IDs to be considered valid for federal purposes, such as entering secure federal buildings or traveling by air." -- The REAL ID Act was/is not only about flight ID.. but about voting ID as well...Perhaps halting those states voting privileges in National Elections until they do conform is warranted..

From the watch the A-list stammer and kowtow" department - Online headline: ‘All the Money in the World’ director Ridley Scott praises GOP tax bill: ‘You’re going to get growth’" -- Betcha Hollywood was not expecting this... and a few will change their political rhetoric... if they want real work on real movies...
---
Online headline: "Poll: Half of Minnesotans don't want Sen. Al Franken to resign" -- Yeah.. the half that's Republican or Independent... hey, I'd like Franken to be embarrassed at the polls if he ran for re-election

Some attorney from Savannah petitioned a judge to change the date of a January 2, 2018 hearing because he had tickets/accommodations at the Rose Bowl. The judge (also a UGA Alum) granted it on the basis that since the attorney says GA cannot win unless he's in attendance, that if GA loses, the attorney must be in his courtroom on January 3rd to explain why GA lost.. If my wife (as well as my daughter/son-in-law, and my bro-sis-in-laws) weren't a UGA alum, I might be inclined to pull for Oklahoma... but I'm smarter than that..

On another aspect of the Rose Bowl game.. Oklahoma is sending out info that it's Heisman winning QB managed to practice on Tuesday and Wednesday despite being under-the-weather...hmmm... making excuses in advance isn't a sign of confidence..

L-E headline: "TAX REFORM * Aflac announces $250M workforce investment * Columbus-based Aflac Inc. announced in a news release Thursday it would make $250 million in investments to strengthen its workforce, promote growth and enhance its commitment to supporting childhood cancer initiatives. * The company said the investments are a result of the passage of the $1.5 trillion Republican-led tax bill, which was signed into law by President Donald Trump on Dec. 22. The law enacts sweeping changes to tax law and will give around 80 percent of individuals a tax cut next year, reported the Associated Press. * “The decision to invest the $250 million is a direct result of the tax reform, although it’s not unlike Aflac to invest in its employees,” said Aflac spokesperson Jon Sullivan." -- Since ongoing success and growth are the goals, I'm not going to hold my breath that the McClatchy-owned Columbus L-E will be doing anything similar...

Uber-LIV's L-E "soundoff": ". Trump could personally save up to $15 million on his taxes as a result of the Republican tax scam, despite what he and the White House claimed." -- Good grief.. what is it with DIMocrats.. they cannot find derogatory "facts" so they make up whatever pleases their pleases them.. BTW, Trump is donating his entire salary as president to programs and charities that need publicity and financial assistance.
---
Absolute dumb(_@_) LIV's L-E "soundoff": "Laughing in their champagne … At all the fools making less than $75,000 thinking they are getting a tax cut." -- Looks like we need to offer remedial math to the GRADUATES with Columbus' public school social promotions/diplomas. With a $24K standard deduction for a family of 4 and increased childcare credits regardless of ones income, the Tax Cut Bill is definitely aimed at those on the lower end of the financial scale.. Young families will greatly benefit..

L-E headline/story: "CRIMINAL JUSTICE * Teen suspect tried to sell amp before shootout *
The 15-year-old murder suspect charged in the Dec. 20 shootout at the Columbus Pawn Shop tried to sell an amp to the business before the incident, according to testimony Thursday in Columbus Recorder’s Court. * He pleaded not guilty to murder in the shooting that killed one man and wounded three others, including him. He was ordered held in the Aaron Cohn Regional Youth Detention Center without bond. * The 21-year-old suspect who was wounded during the incident remains in the Midtown Medical Center. His current condition is unknown. * Columbus police declined to release his name or clarify whether he has been charged. * Officials interviewed the 15-year-old at the hospital the following day. He allegedly said he met up with the 21-year-old suspect after being suspended from school." -- Why are the names of the two robbers/killers not being published? I'm sure they are known widely among the gang elements and their families/friends so why is the rest of Columbus being kept in the dark? The ONLY reasons I can think of are that the names are associated with other crimes and the men should not have been out on the street anyway, or they are connected to a known family.. If someone will message/e-mail me those names (with verifiable documentation of source), i will publish them.

L-E headline: "GEORGIA FOOTBALL * Chaney discusses decision to stick with Fromm over Eason" -- Would loved to have been a fly on he wall when Chaney discussed playing time with incoming QB Justin Fields, and when Chaney discussed next year with Fromm...

L-E Editorial Cartoon:

Pitiful... no amount of union interference ..or influence.. would have made more than a flea bite's attention to an elephant to get ATT to adopt this action.. This is purely ATT's response to the value created within the Tax Cut Bill.
