From the "Doh!... DOUBLE DOH!" department - Online headline/story: "Trump, likely to benefit from new bill, still refuses to release taxes * The White House said Tuesday that President Trump would likely owe more in taxes under the bill that passed the House but declined to release his 2016 returns on the grounds they are being audited. Both claims are disputed by tax experts." -- Good grief.. Of course Trump will benefit from the tax bill... he's an American taxpayer... and he promised every American taxpayer would benefit from a tax cut bill.. What mainscream media.. and DIMocrats.. are worried about is that Trump's "benefit" will be that he gets re-elected big, and more Republicans are elected in 2018 and 2020.

From the "since it's not a "headLIE" we'll just call it a mainscream media INTENTIONAL LIE" department - Online LIE: "Democrats, who uniformly opposed the tax bill, pounced on the oversight as a telling reflection of the hurried, secretive process Republicans used in developing the measure." -- "uniformly opposed the tax bill"? -- Good grief.. it is NOT a "tax bill".. the "uniformly opposed the TAX CUT bill!
---
From the "one more way mainscream media can tell a lie" department - Online headline: "Hillary Clinton is now just as unpopular as Donald Trump" -- Wait a minute.. Trump beat Hellary "mano a torcido".. there is no tie!
---
Online headline: "Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs wants to buy the Carolina Panthers, sign Colin Kaepernick and Stephen Curry wants to help!" -- Now it's "POOF Diddy" partnering with KaeperPRICK, and Stephen Curry.. They better be prepared to buy out ALL the partners as current ones will not stick around, so I doubt "rubbing three pricks together" will produce enough "heat" to burn the mortgage. And Cam Newton.. what makes those three think Newton would stick around to be a part of a "three Bling" circus?

A thoughtful BCer noted an error in a statement I posted yesterday...I said the sunsetted portion of the law on individuals could be made "permanent".. I was wrong.. there is no "permanent" tax as longer as Congress can change it. What Congress can do is either "extend" it or revise it.. even downward if the revenue flow increases like it should..

You know... politicians have, for the most part, forgotten how to be "good listeners", but parsing the actions of politicians over the past few decades, America would be a lot better off if politicians were better GOD listeners.

I've been thinking about the hysteric opposition to the Freedom of Religion Bill that Josh McKoon champions. In fact, no one should be in opposition to the bill..it basically just adds another level of protection for our US Constitutional rights. The rub is that no one is obligated to exercise such rights in conducting their businesses unless they desire to do so. The law would basically protect each of us from the vitriol of the few, fueled by a vendetta,  who want to create personal gain for themselves.

So the MCSB "rubber stamp segment" felt Dr. Lewis "deserved" a raise.. well, if so, then Phenix City's Superintendent deserves a MUCH bigger one..In a City Comparison survey, Phenix City's Education system was rated a B-, while Columbus had a C+ rating.. Close, but when you consider that Phenix City spends but $8,609.00 per student while the MCSD spends $11, 438 (L-E story April of 2-16 http://www.ledger-enquirer.com/news/local/education/article74174087.html ), Columbus and the MCSB should expect.. no, DEMAND better results. Phenix City does better with 32% less funding per student...

From the "prepare to be overwhelmed by what the government wastes" department - Online story: "The federal government owns or leases 5,066 bathrooms, occupying nearly 1.7 million square feet of the government’s 1.9 billion feet of total office space. * Uncle Sam also controls 16,570 parking lots and garages, more than 1,500 prisons, nearly 17,000 warehouses, 766 hospitals and 2,427 schools, the General Services Administration said Monday, releasing the most complete report ever on the breadth of the federal government’s footprint. * The public database, required by a 2016 law, provides the locations, uses and square footage of nearly every office, facility, park, checkpoint, research lab and communications tower used by the feds. * “Billions of dollars are wasted on unused and unneeded federal property, and this is a major portion of our effort to reduce the federal footprint,” said Rep. Jeff Denham, California Republican and chief sponsor of the 2016 law. “The government hid this information for years, and now the public can see just how much our reforms are needed to save taxpayer dollars.” * On a smaller scale, the feds said they owned or leased 122 museums, 80 non-Defense Department weapons ranges, 19 child care centers and 18 grazing plots. * Of the more than 5,000 bathrooms, most of them are on federal land held by the Interior Department. Forty-five of them are listed as national historic landmarks, and hundreds more are on, or eligible for, the National Register of Historic Places. * The government was also holding onto more than 100 parking facilities it said it didn’t need now but would need in the future." -- No comment is really necessary, but I will add that since the properties are "OWNED" outright by the taxpayers, any sale generates one time income.. which should be applied to buying back the bonds that float our National Debt I do have one question that I cannot see a reasonable answer being available, but, "What makes a bathroom.. much less 45 (or the other 100s eligible for) of them that are considered "National Landmarks"..We know of many signs "where Washington slept" but do we need to know where politicians ....?

L-E headline: "Columbus man shot twice during home break-in" -- While the CPD and Coroner's Office debate whether we have had 34 or 41 homicides (I think the Coroners is the best source), the real story is in how many we would have if we didn't have top-notch emergency room doctors in Columbus to keep many more from dying.
