On a local issue of concern...from the "whatta travesty for our school children!" department - Columbus L-E story: "DISTRICT * (of Muscogee County School Board) - "District 8 representative Philip Schley, a retired urologist, told the L-E he won't seek re-election because he accomplished what he set out to do in 2018: defeat Frank Myers."... and another Schley wants to succeed him... his daughter Margot Schley, 51, a yoga instructor with a child at Brookstone and one at Columbus High... (who) wants to continue her father's legacy of civility on the board". --"Legacy"? Being a civility placeholding rubber stamp vote on issues that affect the future of both students and the city of Columbus, GA... that's not a "legacy" that's a travesty! Say.. or believe .. what you want/will about Frank Myers, but issues of school children's needs got public exposure.. much needed public exposure.. Now.. talking about exposure.. Columbus needs more exposure on the conflict of interest of MCSB member Cathy Williams being able to raise taxes on Columbus citizens to compensate for he $10-MILLION in taxes her business organization will drain from City and School revenues.

Columbus Council is doing it "to us".... AGAIN! In the Columbus L-E yesterday:

CALL FOR SPECIAL ELECTION TO QUALIFIED VOTERS OF MUSCOGEE COUNTY

The Muscogee County Board of Elections and Registration hereby calls for a special election to be held in conjunction with the General Primary/Nonpartisan Election scheduled for May 24, 2022, for the purpose of submitting to the voters of Muscogee County in all precincts the following question: "Shall County's transportation system and the transportation network in this region and the state be improved by providing for a 1 percent special district transportation sales and use tax for the purpose of transportation projects and programs for a period of 10 years?" --

Here we go again.. Council indicated that it's minimum 10 year $400,000,000.00 SPLOST could keep our sales taxes at 8% if the existing T-SPLOST was allowed to end.. but here they go re-supporting a 10 year extension during the primary elections rather than on the General Election Date in November. This Council shows it knows no shame! Thus, Council is trying to raise our sales taxes by 12.5% ... again!
