Online headline: “Columbus, GA is trying to lure Braves AA affiliate Mississippi to relocate for 2025 season “ -- Hmmm...the fact that Trustmark Park in Jackson HAS upgraded its facility and their team is out "shopping" is basically for negotiating leverage, and shows the AA Braves are only loyal to the current best offer . Oh, and while "a pair of good season tickets" bought ahead costs $1,800-$2,000, good single tickets are around $28.00$ each ($112.00 plus refreshments for a family of 4)... Hmmm... if these are the prices that will be charged in Columbus, GA, most Braves fans would rather spend that driving to Atlanta and seeing the REAL BRAVES playing.

 

As reported in the story, the Mississippi Braves were averaging about 2,500 attendees per game last year (Times 69 home games equals about $172,000 for the season). I remember talking with one of the key owners and he was bemoaning they were on a schedule to get about 65,000 for the season and needed to get to 100,000 mark.. I offered him to take the PR job and expenses for free next year until 100,000 paid attendees were recorded, but then I wanted $1.00 per head for each of them as well as the overage. He thought about it about two seconds and said, ‘No.. you’d make too much money!” I looked at him and said,, you ought to be thinking about “HOW MUCH MORE MONEY Y’ALL WOULD BE MAKING.” He didn’t respond…

Talk about stupid....on our way to our church on Sunday, we were dumfounded to find a Crossing Guard assigned to handle pedestrian traffic it the crosswalk going into the Columbus/Oliver Marina. Excuse me, but we taxpayers have been overtaxed as it is for the push-button activated walk/don't walk lights to need human guides as well.

Speaking of chaos... there were 7 police cars "controlling" traffic flow it the intersection of 54th St & River Road Sunday morning getting the traffic created by Cascade Church. It was made NECESSARY because of the recently added traffic signals on the ramps off J R Allen North Bypass. There is no "sync" of the lights with the traffic flow.

Much to my chagrin, my girls like Starbucks cold coffee. For Christmas morning family breakfast, I bought two bottles of it... The good news is I found them at "2 for $10.00" (regular price $6.19). What’s going on at River Road north of Bradley Park? It "looks like" GA Power Company is taking down the older wood poles and moving their electric lines to the concrete ones further off the road.. it "looks like" that section between Bradley ParK Drive and Mobley Road may be widened.. Wait a minute! That the same section GA Power Company SWORE it was NOT GOING TO WIDEN, and the only way to alleviate the traffic issue at Bradley Park was to build a ROUND-A-BOUT that ended up costing Columbus taxpayers nearly $4.8 MILLION. Anybody know what went on... or who got paid off!
