Today is Martin Luther King's holiday.. many events have already occurred and more are scheduled today. I share Dr. King's "dream" but there are many who don't.. some of them will be speaking - leading rallies - today. I wish...no, pray, that those who speak will have healing forgiveness in their words and hearts. Dr. King would approve.

---
There's an inherent and simple flaw in having an elected school board..the only power is the ability..the opportunity to spend other people's money..There is zero incentive to save money. Board members want to go out and brag to their districts about "what they got for them". What we need is a grand jury appointed board..again...then, when a term is up for a board member and he/she wants to serve again, then being a good guardian of other people's money becomes strong asset for reappointment.

---
Jonathan Gruber stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": " Isn’t a school board member who’s opposed to a tax for badly needed capital funds much like a union leader whose goal is to work for a pay cut for all members?" -- Hmmm.. even union leaders understand that rampant waste will end the jobs of it's members which the union is supposed to focus on saving at all costs. I just wonder which of the other 7 MCSD board's members sent this in...Oh.. reread the item above this one.

---
Jonathan Gruber stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff" 2015 finalist for most stupid comment: " How dare the House GOP add the Homeland Security budget to abolishing Obama’s immigration policy? Blackmail is the appropriate word. They will shut down the government, desert national security — anything to get their way." -- And this guy/gal had no problem with Harry Reid stripping out an irrelevant Pelosi passed House Bill, inserting OObamaCRAP intp the shell, sending it back to Pelosi who called for a "no read" vote to pass it?
---
Jonathan Gruber stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": "MCSD’s regular audit costs well over $100,000 and practically guarantees uncovering any material internal control, reporting, or compliance weaknesses. A comprehensive forensic audit will cost several times more with no guarantee of finding anything else." -- Good grief.. a "regular audit" amounts to balancing a check book not checking to see if the money was spent correctly..the real question is why a "regular audit" costs that much... a forensic audit will determine that, too. I mean, if you this "soundoffer" were getting $100K to rubber stamp something, would he point out discrepancies and risk losing next year's contract? In another way,, a "regular audit" is no different from Mayor TomLYINGson giving $350,000.00 to a group to conduct a feasibility study on a high speed rail system she wants, and knowing that will take 20 years before it could possibly be finished and people learn either it won't work or "come in" anywhere close to the figures she spouted 20 years before.
---
Another Jonathan Gruber stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": "Sanford and Vivian Bishop have not distinguished themselves as Democrats. It's time they changed parties -- or just left town." -- Good grief.. the Bishop's have demonstrated PRECISELY what Democrat politicians are...
---
HuffPOO headline: "Shots fired outside Biden's Delaware home" -- Ooooops my bad.. thought maybe Dr Mrs Biden decided to step out on the balcony to fire a few shotgun blasts for practice..

---
Online headline: "Death sentence looms over bombing trial * Testimony expected to start later this month, the Justice Department hasn't indicated it will spare Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's life." -- "hasn't indicated it will spare (Bomber Brother 2's) life"? Good grief.. if Boston accepts the premise Bomber Brother 2 deserves another chance at life, then Obamageddon should start turning his Gitmo releases loose in Boston instead of Yemen or Oman.

---
HuffPOOPOO story: "Jane Fonda was at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick when she was confronted by about 50 veterans holding signs with the phrase "Forgive? Maybe. Forget? Never." * All over this decades-old photo where the actress is seen sitting among Viet Cong soldiers during her trip to the country in 1972. * The photo earned her the hateful nickname "Hanoi Jane." -- "All over this decades-old photo"? It had nothing to do with a photo.. the photo just "captured" what she was doing! I nearly walked out of a theater because of a "coming attraction" trailer of some movie I will never see anywhere...

---
Random thought: You know, if Obamageddon had been graduated by Columbia or Harvard cum laude (or higher), do you think he would have kept his grades locked away in limboland?

---
Obamageddon sent Sweet Baby James Taylor over to France to serenade President Hollande with "You've got a friend"... guess a Kerry hug wasn't enough... strangely, just two years ago, James Taylor was advocating that Americans need to sacrifice some of their freedom to protect children from gun violence. Maybe Obamageddon needs to watch how the Godfather descibes his course of action if someone hurts one of his "family".

---
Online quote source: "“A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both.” - Dwight D. Eisenhower " -- hmm thought this was an appropriate tag-a-long for the message Obamageddon sent to the world in the item above.

---
Online headline: "Michael Moore Blasts ‘American Sniper’ Chris Kyle as a ‘Coward’" -- Good grief.. You know.. Michael Moore could wallow around in a latrine pit and no one would be able to tell him apart from what else is in there...

---
Yesterday, after leaving church, I drove by a building that used to house Merrill-Lynch, and later bought by Synovus Financial. It's now on the market for sale. When it was owned by Merrill Lynch, it had a putrid "mustard-ish" brick facade.. Synovus hand painted each of those bricks to make them look like "real brick". Caveat Emptor.. it needs a new paint job..

---
Oh! A "get's it" L-E "soundoff": " The civilized world was unaware Nazis were exterminating Jews until after WW II, but Muslim terrorists are exterminating non-Muslims in Nigeria now, and the world just shrugs." -- Hmmm, imagine Hitler's world if he had access to today's mainstream media back then.. Remember CNN looking then other way at the atrocities in Saddam Hussein's palaces.
---
L-E headline/story: "Commentary * Overhyping Obama’s Paris fail by Kathleen Parker * If we can be serious for a moment: The president made an error in judgment by not sending someone with a higher profile than our ambassador to join world leaders Sunday at a solidarity rally in Paris. * The White House has admitted the error." -- "over hyping"? Based on what.. Obamageddon's successes in Iraq, Afghanistan or Benghazi? "admitted the error"? You know, there are times... this being one.. that asking for forgiveness just doesn't cut it.. being the President of the USA has obligations.. obligations to its citizens and the world.
---
From a Tim Chitwood column: " Tim, What was the precipitating factor in the sudden and painful separation from your horse? By the way, my grandfather, the quintessential horseman, said that you haven’t really ridden until you’ve been thrown. You’ve been initiated. JD. * Dear JD: The horse stumbled and went down on both front legs, so I was catapulted from the saddle over the horse’s right shoulder. * I’ve been told I should have been able to hold on, but I never see guys in the movies stay in the saddle when that happens, so I remain skeptical. And sore." -- Hmmm.. Hey Tim.. what's worse. being thrown by a horse or the Democrat donkey you on ride daily?
---
You know.. Islamic jihadists don't even need to attack conservative news outlets like Rush Limbaugh or Fox News... Obamageddon and Pric Holder are already hard at work at this.

Online story: "Valerie Jarrett made a rare appearance out of the shadows as President Obama’s close confidant and senior adviser. On a rare appearance on CNN, she quickly tells everyone that President Obama “hasn’t forgotten a thing” about Constitutional Law in regards to Amnesty." -- Whoa! Where is "amnesty" discussed in the U.S. Constitution? I guess Jarrett is talking about how Obamageddon knows every trick in the book to get amnesty for her, himself and any other appointees he hadn't already thrown under the bus.

---
Announcement:Due to occasional absurd content, there will be a new category description of headline/story content associated with the Huffington Post. Extreme cr(_*_)p content from HuffPo previously was denoted as "HuffPOO" but occasionally, even "HuffPOO" isn't enough of an alert.. for these occasions, the new into will be "HuffPOOPOO".
---
HuffPOOPOO headline: "State of the Union: Obama To Propose Tax Hikes On Wealthy, Breaks For Middle Class" -- Even though Harry Reid and the Democrats screwed over the public...well, those working and paying taxes, by stripping out H.R.3590, inserting OObamaCRAP, then sending it back to Pelosi for a "no read" House vote.. that ain't gonna happen in the next two years since the Republicans now have majorities in both Congressional Chambers.. Even Obamageddon cannot write an Executive Order overriding Article I, section 7 of the Constitution designating the origin of a tax bill.
---
HuffPOOPOO headline/story: "Mitt Romney's Re-Invention As Anti-Poverty Warrior * Mitt Romney reintroduced himself to the Republican Party on Friday as a man interested in running for president because of his desire to address poverty and income inequality. * Romney ticked off three priorities crucial to what he called the "post-Obama era": making the world safer with a more muscular foreign policy, providing opportunity to all Americans, and lifting people out of poverty. * One only wonders why the former governor of Massachusetts neglected to focus on the growing problems the last time he held the title of GOP standard bearer." -- Well, Romney did, and got attacked by liberals and Republican hierarchy alike. Mainstream media blamed Romney for being truthful about the 47,000,000 who would vote only for higher entitlement funders, and the Republican hierarchy put a muzzle on Romney after the masterful first debate.
---
You know.. instead of Gitmo, how about sending all captured Islamic jihadist to the South Pole/Antarctica... they'd never figure out how to face the East to pray.
---
HuffPOO story: "Recent years have been trying for California as it weathers its worst drought in 1,200 years. Perhaps the hardest hit have been the state’s farmers and the local economies that rely on them." -- Oh, yeah.. but those dam snail darter fish are doing fine because farmers can't get irrigation water from the dams.
---
Jonathan Gruber stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": "Economists say a $12 per hour minimum wage would cause menu items to rise an average 4-6 percent, which the public would "tolerate." Execs are not going to price themselves out of business." -- Who sent this in.. Josh Earnest or Obamageddon himself? First, a raise in the current federal minimum wage of $7.25 to $12.00 would be a 66% percent labor increase, not 4-to-6%, however, the writer is accurate on the the fact that "execs are not going to price themselves out of business"..execs will simply find automated/robot replacements.
---
Another Jonathan Gruber moment: "School district money is spent the way the school board sets the budget and by state of Georgia rules. Look at the budget to see where the money is spent, not at another expensive audit." -- "Look at the budget to see where the money is spent"? Good grief.. that's exactly what an audit DOES!
---
Instant repeat: "School district money is spent the way the school board sets the budget and by state of Georgia rules. Look at the budget to see where the money is spent, not at another expensive audit." -- "the school board sets the budget and by state of Georgia rules"? I'm not sure whether there is more naivety or BS in this assertion...In 1990, the Muscogee County School System had 2,000 administrators/teachers, and the state did not fund 200 of them (10%) because the state determined their jobs were "unnecessary". A roundabout figure in today's administrators/teachers working in our school system is 3,800 +/-.. draw your own conclusions as to how many aren't funded by the state for the same reason as the 1990 figure.
---
Speaking of school business updates.. a couple of weeks ago, I reported a school bus being parked in a shopping center lot during the Christmas school vacation. Dr Lewis checked into it, and his handling of the situation was good and adequate. Life goes on.
---
Remember back to high school days, and student government elections, and the inane campaign promises that swayed votes? Then why do we give 18 year olds the right to vote.. they've been brainwashed to cheer/vote for entitlements? In fact, why do we even let college students vote? Hmmm, in fact, why isn't it a voting requirement to actually have a job as either a breadwinner or stay-at-home-mom? Going a little bit further, why are government workers allowed to vote in elections where the candidates actually have a say-so in setting their wages?
---
Online story: "President Obama quietly issued an executive order Friday in which he continued to give local police departments military-style tanks (armored HumVees?), but also created a working group to make sure that the tanks won’t be used in a racist way." -- Huh? First off.. Obamageddon doesn't give anything to any police department.. police departments are under some local politician's (mayor or Council/Manager) "control", and since such vehicles are pretty useless to all but big/major cities, and very few big/major cities have any Republican/conservative mayors, I guess Obamageddon is asserting that our inner city Democrat mayors are all racists.. you know.. Obamageddon does know something..
---
Online story worth repeating often: "The Obama administration official who oversaw the botched rollout of the Obamacare website, Healthcare.gov, announced on Friday she will resign as head of the agency that also manages the Medicare and Medicaid healthcare programs. * “It is with sadness and mixed emotions that I write to tell you that February will be my last month,” Marilyn Tavenner, administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), said in an email to staff." -- And Obamageddon's bus claims a few more lives. It's ironic that Tavenner used e-mail to inform her staff.. if she'd been at the IRS, the e-mail would have been "lost" and she'd still be working.
---
WOW Cable LIES! I was not treated like a " big maraca" nor felt any "warm fuzzies" when I called in to ask why I am no longer getting two channels I watch.."AXS" and "HDNET". The WOW rep finally told me that both channels were " drops" because of contract issues. I asked then why haven't I been compensated (replacement channels) because of WOW's contract WITH ME! I was abruptly, and without ceremony, hung up on. I guess that's how WOW does business..if WOW doesn't get or hear what it wants, WOW just "drops" you..whether you are a channel or a phone customer.
---
You know.. I don't why we need to be concerned about Carlos Slim becoming the largest shareholder in the New York Times...The NY Times has always spoken in a language we do not understand.
---
Online story: "The facts say Planned Parenthood terminated the lives of 117,955 black babies in 2013. The previous year, cops killed 123 black men. Um ... maybe something should be done about Planned Parenthood?" -- Hmmm.. what can I add ... maybe directions ( 1110 Vermont Ave. NW Washington, DC 20005) so Al-Sharlatan can go there and protest?
---
L-E story: "Waving signs with the words “The Dream Lives” and “I am the Dream,” more than 2,000 people converged on the Liberty Theatre from four different directions Saturday to renew the spirit of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy. “We are here to honor Martin Luther King, liberty, justice and fairness for all, everyone,” said Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson. “We are also here to retire a legacy of hate.” -- Hmmm, I didn't realize Al Sharlatan was in town...
---
Did you read the L-E interview of Dr Lewis? Good grief.. what a waste of readers' time, the L-E's ink, and God's trees! There's but one issue that would warrant this much space, and that was basically avoided. Dr. Lewis should have been pointedly asked if he knows that GA SPLOST regulations pretty much eliminate all maintenance projects since most of the projects he's presented are maintenance projects. The last thing this community needs is its media tiptoeing around tax issues.
---
L-E headline: "Blind Tom collection going up for auction * But some local historians, fearing collection will leave Bi-Cities, object" -- Hmmm.. since there are no "donations" local museums mentioned, I would hope the L-E sent an advertising bill to Judge Greene's hiers and the auction company. If nothing else, just for the L-E's part in shilling the prices upwards.
---
L-E story: " SAVANNAH, Ga. — A Chatham County man has been sentenced to four years in prison for intentionally exposing four women to HIV. (_*_)ntonio Myawn B(_*_)con Jr. must remain on probation for 16 years following his release. * The Savannah Morning News reported a grand jury indicted B(_*_)con on reckless conduct charges. Prosecutors said Bacon learned he was HIV positive before he exposed his victims to the sexually transmitted disease. One of the victims was 15 years old at the time." -- Good grief...what was the judge thinking by sentencing him to 4 years + 16 years probation? Does the judge think Ba(_*_) will stay celibate once he's out of prison? Seems to me, that the judge has committed a worse crime against the citizens than the criminal he slapped on the wrist. Perhaps a punishment involving a cigar cutter may have been more appropriate in assuring no recidivism.
---
In Dusty Nix's "'Defending' free expression … by squelching it" commentary in the L-E today, he opines, " the French government has ordered prosecutors to crack down on … hate speech. Granted, a government enforcing laws against what bureaucrats judge to be offensive is not on a par with militant Islamic fanatics machine-gunning cartoonists for what terrorists find offensive." -- Huh? Where was Dusty.. excuse me, where IS Dusty on the Obamageddon/DOJ attack on conservative talk shows and organizations in THIS country?
---
L-E headline: "A King we should all honor" -- Yes, and as opposed to the pretender in the White House wanting to usurp Dr King's title and dream.
---
You would think celebrating Dr King's holiday would shine the light on Al Sharlatan, Jesse Jackson, Chgarlie Rangel, Sheila Jackson Lee, Maxine Waters, Obamageddon, Pric Holder et al as false disciples of King's legacy.
---
L-E headline: "Commentary: Leonard Pitts * Pontiff wrong on limiting freedom of expression" -- Wow! As Fred Sanford oft said, "Elizabeth, I'm coming to join you.. I'm having "the Big one"... I'm not going to persue the content of Pitts because I might get disappointed, but I will agree with his premise that Pope Francis is way out of line!
---
You know.. I'm not against college conferences expanding, but I do wish the conference that do keep the mix in line with the conference traditions. It's tough to see Missouri and Texas A&M being called Southeastern Conference members, but the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference has gone bananas..schools from Indiana and Pennsylvania don't even have "Atlantic coasts".

Online story: "PARIS (AP) - U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met top officials in France to express America's solidarity with the French people after last week's deadly terrorist attacks. * "I think you know that you have the full and heartfelt condolences of the American people and I know you know that we share the pain and the horror of everything that you went through," Kerry said as he greeted French President Francois Hollande" -- "you have the full and heartfelt condolences of the American people "? you know.. I think Hollande and the citizens knew that.. knew that American citizens were aghast of the event and full of support and compassion for the people of France. What the people of France and the rest of the non-Muslim world actually needed was to know Obamageddon was supporting them. Kerry did not say nor convey that.
---
Pope Francis' support for the Islamic retaliation on Charlie Hebdo have him sending out spinmeisters to defend his comments. Even Fox News had a collared emissary trying to do damage control. Maybe Pope Francis should just hire Jay Carney as his spokesperson.
---
Meanwhile, back at the White House, Obamageddon discussed terrorism with the British Prime Minister.. you know, the Prime Minister of the country that refers to the French people as "frogs".
---
Under threat of stupid lawsuit, the NCAA has "restored" the "vacated wins" to Joe Paterno.. Good grief.. who cares at this point..Paterno's legacy will always have Sandusky to explain.
---
Online headline: "Report: MLB to test 20-second pitch clock * MLB created a committee in September to help study the issue, as games took an average of more than three hours to complete last season, up from two hours and 46 minutes in 2003." -- Hmmm.... you know, if MLB really wanted to speed up games, then it could merely stop "TV Timeouts" and run fewer minutes of ads, and we know that's not happening.
---
You know, if umps put pitcher "on the clock", what will happen is more steals and balks will occur as runners figure out they can get a jump as soon as the clock is about to expire. Pitchers are required, as it is, to come to a complete "rest" on the pitcher's plate before delivering a pitch to the batter.
---
Online story: "Top Democrats are defending their appointment of a Muslim congressman to the House Intelligence Committee after protests erupted on social media, warning the move is dangerous.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi this week appointed Rep. Andre Carson of Indiana to the panel, which oversees the government's intelligence departments and activities. Much of the business that comes before the committee is classified." -- Good grief.. take a stand, Republicans, cast him off that committee! No radical Islamist or Democrat is going to vote for a Republican anyway, and even independent moderate voters of all other religions. even atheists, will appreciate knowing the Republicans are standing up for the safety of American citizens and our military!
---
Online quote source: " “If you would have your son to walk honourably through the world, you must not attempt to clear the stones from his path, but teach him to walk firmly over them - not insist upon leading him by the hand, but let him learn to go alone.” - Anne Bronte " -- Hey, Obamageddon... you got any sons that look like this?
---
So Carlos Slim is now the major shareholder of the NY Times. Hmmm, wonder if it will be called the Nueva York Tiempo, and have an English Edition. Hmmm, wonder if you you'll now have to punch "2" to get an English speaking service person?
---
Hmmm... one of the unexpected benefits of Carlos Slim buying the largest share of Nueva York Tiempo is that pet birds from Latin America will feel more at home with a cage liner with a Spanish atmosphere.
---
Online quote source: "“Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose.” - Lyndon B. Johnson" -- Hmmm. well LBJ was right.. we lost his "War on Poverty". Now's a chance to make a comeback.
---
Oh.. Breakfast Club update... Two weeks ago, I reported to, and challenged Councilwoman Judy Thomas to follow through on making the 1st Floor of the Macon Road Government Service Center parking garage was for the public. She rose up before the last election and reversed the initial parking assignments .. BUT, as reported (with picture), 10 prime parking spots were reserved (by numbers rather than names so "we" don't know who is parking there) for Government Center personnel (wanna bet none of the hourly personnel have access to them?). Yesterday, I rode back by the Government Service Center, and the signs were still up and cars parked in several of them. Judy Thomas.. you are not keeping the words you campaigned on!
---
While there's no comparison to the bloody massacre at the headquarters of Charlie Hebdo, mainstream media has pretty much yawned at the assault on the Santa Barbara News-Press last week. I guess paint bombs and wall graffiti are "OK" to our mainstream media if it's in protest of something conservative. Wait a minute..wasn't that the same reasoning of the Islamic jihadists' attack on Charlie Hebdo?
---
It amazes me that the Columbus L-E treats the major hospital predicaments so nonchalantly.. The Amos Cancer Center was.. and still is. under scrutiny for fraudulent claims, and the magical disappearance of $30,000,000.00 from St Francis Hospital seems to have magically disappeared from L-E interest.
---
Jonathan Gruber stupid LIV L-E "soundoff": " If there is now $35 million more in the pockets of Columbus citizens due to SPLOST ending, and we have about 195,000 citizens, then I should have $179.49 in my pocket. Have I been robbed?" -- Hmmm.. wanna bet this LIV would be screaming bloody murder if a street thug had taken $180.00 from his wallet and decided to spend it on things the street thug wanted. Wanna bet he/she would be making excuses to bill collectors why he didn't have $180.00 to pay his own bills with?
---
Another Jonathan Gruber stupid LIV L-E "soundoff": " Sen. Rand Paul faulted Obama for not attending the Paris unity march. I’m sure Sen. Paul would have attended, but his profile wasn’t high enough." -- Good grief.. if it was known that Kentucky Senator Rand's presence would have made France feel better, I'm sure Kentucky would have sent him there.. Paul was elected as Kentucky's voice in Congress, not to be the international voice of America.
---
This must be a liberal holiday at the L-E...Another Jonathan Gruber stupid LIV L-E "soundoff": "If you have to let “one or two” employees go because of the minimum wage increase, then you must be a mediocre owner/manager with a fragile enterprise." -- Good grief... if employers let go of minimum wage employees, it''s because the employees haven't shown worth and value of the opportunity they had been offered.
---
L-E headline: "U.S. Supreme Court will hear same-sex marriage cases" -- You know, we already know what 4 votes are going to be... the only question will be what the other 5 judges will decide after actually listening to,weighing, and discerning the facts.
---
L-E's "Online comment of the day": “I am truly saddened by this news. I personally hosted a meet and greet candidate party for Brian P. Roslund. Here are the facts that I know … Brian is a wonderful and endearing person whom I have had and still have alot of respect for. Brian had been accused of charges but has not been convicted of anything. …” — From “Jeremy Scott Hobbs” on the story about Roslund facing charges of theft and racketeering." -- Straight from a Democratic Party Donkey's mouth.. be sure an remember this association when Hobbs runs for Red's Council post in 2016.
---
There's an ad in the Columbus L-E advertising ingots of silver for $57.00 for a 1 Troy once bar... good luck with that.. the spot price of silver yesterday was under $18.00 per ounce.
---
L-E story: " Medicare’s top administrator unexpectedly resigned Friday, becoming the latest casualty in the turmoil over the president’s health care law * Marilyn Tavenner’s departure (Her chief of staff is also leaving) underscores the uncertainty overshadowing President Barack Obama’s health care law nearly five years after its party-line passage by a then-Democratic-led Congress." -- They can run.. but they cannot hide....

Friday, January 16, 2015

Online story:"Don’t expect to see Pope Francis proclaiming, “I am Charlie.” * Pope Francis said, "One cannot provoke, one cannot insult other people's faith, one cannot make fun of faith," he said. "There is a limit. Every religion has its dignity ... in freedom of expression, there are limits." -- Where is this "pope" from? Yes, the teaching of no religion should demand.. expect.. personal revenge by its followers on people of other or no religion! It wasn't during the Inquisition, it was right during our pilgrim days, it wasn't right under Hitler, and it's not right in the 21st Century. The "pope" is wrong to excuse Islam terrorism on any basis.
---
My bride has just nailed it! 4 upper echelon Secret Service execs have been thrown under the Obamageddon bus..Guess we know Obamageddon has some job openings for the next Gitmo releasees.
---
Online story: " The Obama administration is putting a large dent in the U.S. embargo against Cuba as of Friday, significantly loosening restrictions on American trade and investment. * The new rules also open up the communist island to greater American travel and allow U.S. citizens to start bringing home small amounts of Cuban cigars after more than a half-century ban" -- Where's Michele on this! On Obamageddon smoking more tobacco products in the White House... Oh.. and what's Hillewinsky's opinion of having Bill have Cuban cigars in the White House in 2017?
---
Online story: "Republican officials tapped newly elected Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst on Thursday to deliver the party's formal response to President Barack Obama's State of the Union address," -- Hmmm .. who better to respond against the party leader that wages war on women & families & small business.. a woman, a wife, a mother, an Iraqi war vet, and a farmer.
---
Radio Shack committed a very slow suicide back in the late 1980s-early 1990s. It could have owned the home computer market, but RS got greedy. With 7000 outlets already in existence, it took the stance of making its own brand of computers so proprietary and expensive that even previous customers sought other brands. Industry standard brands of software would not work on Tandy computers. RS offered crippled down versions at higher prices. Accessory items.. like better monitors from other outlets would not work on RS's Tandy brand because RS had proprietary graphics boards, The same for printers and hard drives. Many company brought RS down.. Megahaus.. by creating connectors that read RS's computer ports and allowed auxiliary hardware to work, and at lower prices. Then enter Dell, Compaq, Zeos, Gateway and a few others start up manufacturers that made straight, and IBM format compatible personal computers. People could buy the software of their choice. People could add the auxiliary items.. drives/monitors/printers.. of their choice.. independent repair specialists could work on any of them. Yes, greed put the first bullet in RS's foot, and its all caught up with RS...

Online story: "The Department of Defense announced Wednesday that five Yemeni terror suspects held at Guantanamo Bay have been released. But despite concerns from lawmakers about the risks of sending anybody back to Yemen, four were released to Oman -- which is right next door". -- HmmmThat al Qaeda guy in Yemen taking credit for the Paris, France act if terror..how come the leaders of Islam or Yemen's president haven't taken him out and apologized for his actions?
---
HuffPOO headline: "Poll: New Yorkers Overwhelmingly Disapprove Of Cops Turning Backs On Bill de Blasio" BS! Who did the poll.. de Bl(_*_)io's chief-of-staff? I mentioned this last week, but the NYPD should seriously consider forwarding all inner city 911 calls directly to de Bl(_*_)io's office! Oh, and I'll bet not one wife or other family member of a NY police officer was contacted in this poll.
---
HuffPOO headline: "Charles Frederick Warner's Last Words Before Execution: 'My Body Is On Fire' -- Yes! Can I get an "AMEN"? How about another one... only louder! Warner probably did feel the heat ... the heat of the gates of Hell as Satan welcomed him..
---
HuffPOO headline: "Oklahoma And Florida To Execute Inmates Within One Hour Of Each Other" -- Bam...bam! Ironic... it took 16 years too long for one of them, and 20 years for the other.
---
WTVM9 story: "President Barack Obama launched a fresh push Thursday to bring paid sick and family leave to working parents and other private-sector employees as the White House unveiled proposals that could benefit tens of millions of people. Most require action by the Republican-controlled Congress. * "Forty-three million Americans do not get paid sick leave," Obama said" -- Good grief.. only a socialist would entice his voter base with entitlements that their employers would have to provide that would eventually bring their businesses to its knees. You know.. government jobs have the become greedy with it's "paid sick leave.. Government does not produce a revenue product but spends tax money freely in patting itself on the back. I can see paid sick leave as a business option as a perk for keeping employees, but the governmenmt takes it too far... WAY TOO FAR! Government accumulates unused sick pay hours, and gives them back as rewards at a later date. I've heard of retirements of a couple of years before requirements have been earned by people taking unused sick pay.. In effect.. government is giving unauthorized raises/bonuses for average actions.. just coming to work gets an employee a bonus one day that small business owners can't even afford for themselves.
---
Online story: "The Mexican government will issue birth certificates to its citizens at consulates in the United States to make it easier for them to apply for a U.S. work permit, driver's license and protection from deportation." -- Good grief! There oughta be a law against this..you know, there probably is, but we won't see Obamageddon or Holder upholding it.. In effect, the Mexican president is aiding and abetting the export of American money to bolster up Mexico's economy while straining the American economy.
---
Online headline: "White House Says That Paris Jihad Attacks Had ‘Nothing to Do’ with ‘Radical Islam’" -- Hmmm.. gives real credibility... NOT... for the White House claiming that Officer Darren Wilson was a racist for doing his duty... his sworn duty, at that.
---
Have a correction... well, actually more of a move to promote accuracy .. Yesterday, I reported that the 3 mils the City gives Columbus Regional to be $30 million.. that's off.. the total is closer to $13 Million the City pays ... BUT, and it's still $13,000,000.00 that is no longer needed to be spent this way.. Council needs to put a halt to this practice.. Some of it could be used to even help the employee med system that Mayor TomLYINGson dumped on them.

Calling Islam tolerant is akin to saying a Cuban election is fair when only one person can be voted for.
---
Online story: "The New York Times Co. says Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim is now the largest holder of its publicly traded shares." -- Good grief.. The Mexican president is distributing legal documents to his countrymen in our country illegally, and now the Times will editorialize that as wonderful... Oh.. The Times would be doing that anyway regardless of Carlos Slim... my bad...
---
Online story: "Koy Sam and his wife were in the process of closing their Houston restaurant for the day when two armed robbers walked in. As one of them forced the couple to the floor, the other one headed for the cash register. *A customer, who was in the middle of his meal, then decided to take matters into his own hands. * The customer, also armed, held one of the would-be robbers at gunpoint until the police arrived. He fired at the other suspect as he fled, hitting the front windows of the store." -- Heh heh heh...guess the robbers forgot they were in Texas, where no retaurant can have a policy of "No Guns Allowed" and stay in business.
---
L-E headline: "POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN CALVIN AVENUE HOMICIDE" -- The CPD has done its job.. now we pray the DA will do her job... before the next election...
---
L-E story: " Brian P. Roslund, the unsuccessful Democratic challenger in the Senate District 29 race in November, was serving as president of the Friends of Roosevelt’s Little White House when discrepancies were noticed in about $11,000 in expenditures" -- Whew! Glad he wasn't involved in St Francis Hospital.. no telling how much would be categorized as "an accounting error"....
---
L-E story: "A 21-year-old Columbus man was struck in the head and robbed late Thursday on River Road, police said. * he man was jumped by seven young men wearing dark clothing. One struck him in the head with a pistol before taking $5 in cash, a $250 pair of Air Jordan sneakers and $200 cell phone." -- Hmmm.. wanna bet the one of the seven who got the sneakers will not sleep in the same house with his "friends" again?
---
You know, unless the judge deciding the outcome of the Bible and Nobel Peace Prize of Dr King sends the items to the Smithsonian, then the judge should give the items to the IRS and let them deliver them to the one the judge favors.
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": "Some cities like St. Louis have a pet patrol for pets that are left outside in cold weather. They confiscate these animals and put them up for adoption." -- Hmmm... you know, Columbus has had this policy for years... it's called "the leash law".
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": " Sanford Bishop voted with the Republicans again to allow the evil, oily Keystone Pipeline to pollute our public aquifers. What’s happening to that man?" -- Jonathan Gruber was right.. Democrat voters are stupid.. so, "hey, Stupid... Bishop just wants to get reelected in 2016!
---
A L-E "soundoff" that almost gets it: " Now the school board wants another SPLOST. I’m not sure I trust the school board enough to vote for another one. They can’t seem to manage money very well." -- On the contrary.. the MCSD, board and administration.. "manages" well.. well, it manages to spend and waste very well!
---
It's being reported that George Soros, billionaire socialist, has sent $33,000,000,00 to organizations stirring the flames of racism in Ferguson, MO versus letting justice work its way forward.. The Republican Party should respond to how the Democratic Party got IRS to delay and deny 501 (c) 3 status to conservative groups by having IRS revoking the 501 (c) 3, 4, or 5 status from any group that accepts a donation from Soros. In fact, those organizations should be added to the "terrorist organization watch list" as proponents of anarchism.
---
L-E headline: "Columbus Tech president sees accuracy in system name change" -- Good grief.. it was suggested by Gov Deal or not.. what is the gain? A rose is a rose by any name.. About the only people who will gain are the sign and t-shirt makers.
---
L-E movie critique: " “Blackhat” is an unthrilling thriller about an imprisoned cyber-criminal (Chris Hemsworth) who is let out of jail in order to track down the mastermind behind a pair of computer attacks. * Seemingly shot on a shaky smartphone, director Michael Mann’s blurry, jerkily edited digital video is hard to read, especially during action sequences. Viola Davis as Hems-worth’s FBI handler is the absolute the best thing about “Blackhat.” -- The L-e and all other McClatchy newspapers who picked this up better lock its doors. Do they really think Viola Davis will be pleased to have her name proudly and publicly associated with this movie?
---
Hmmm.. so Target is pulling out of Canada.. guess Target found out dealing with multi-lingual customers and a socialistic, over regulated government makes it nigh impossible to be profitable.. Wait a minute... has anyone heard Target's analysis of the American market?

Hmmm the above story really makes you think about why Obamageddon wants to reopen trade with socialist Cuba at the same time....

Online headline: "IRS warning your tax refund could be delayed" -- Hmmm.. Obamageddon's gonna have a lot of 'splaining to do to Democrats running for re-election in 2016! Most of the early refunds go to the Democratic voter base depending on their tax credit "unearned income" boost as quick cash.
---
Online headline: "New DNA technique may reveal face of killer in unsolved double-murder" -- Wow! a speck of blood or a strand of hair can be the basis of developing an image of the person it belongs. Talk about a powerful tool in unresolved cases... basically getting a "police sketch" when there are no eyewitnesses or connected motives to guide a search.
---
An online friend of mine brings up a good... no.. an excellent point that would inject $30,000,000.00 into our City budget without costing the taxpayer another dime..(the alternative would be to reduce our property tax by 3 mils). Since OObamaCRAP is now "the law of the land". there is no more "need" for Council to send $30 MILLION annually to the Columbus Regional Hospital group. 30 years ago, when Council literally "gave" the Medical Center to the Columbus Regional group, the 3 mils were to compensate Columbus Regional for local citizen's indigent care. With OObamaCRAP, there are technically no "indigents", therefore, there's no "need" for Columbus Regional to dispense "indigent care".
---
Online headline: "FBI Inadvertently Classifies President Obama As a Domestic Terrorist" -- "inadvertently"? Looks to me like the FBI noticed an attack on our Constitution and duly noted it!
---
There's a cute video circulating that shows a mama duck establishing control of her ducklings. You know.. this sorta demonstrates how bad government is as a "parental" influence.. the mama duck gets in front of her brood and leads them.. government tries to get behind and "push".. ever tried to push a rope?
---
An easy way to stop the savagery of Islamist to woman, whether they are Muslim or Christian, would be to drop ship packages of pigskin clothing items for the women. That should keep the jihadist pigs from touching them...YEAH
---
Open message to the candidates seeking the 2016 Republican nomination: Address moral issues only to the degree you support, but state irrevocably that issues of abortion and homosexuality are not the voting issues you will address... that's God's department. . Keep Constitutional issues on your plate. Protect the border, protect the family income from government agencies, protect gun ownership, protect voting rights, protect citizenship rights, and support our proven foreign friends/allies. You'll find vast support from all political bases.
---
You know..if Newt Gingrich changes his name, get's a face replacement, and runs on his passion for a smaller and more efficient government, he'll make a great Republican candidate for president. Mainstream media would have to debate him on constitutional issues versus attacking his personal past.
---
You know..if Where'sWaldObama wanted to go to Paris, he'd have gone to Paris... and the Secret Service would have secured the area.
---
Online headline: "CAIR-Hamas Makes Demand of FOX: Fire Those Who Speak Ill of Islam" -- Hmmm it's easy to see that Islamic radicals/jihadists have an issue with out 1st Amendment.
---
The White House says, "It's not accurate to describe the attack in France as "an Islamic attack"...yet...the White House and DOJ was quick, and adamant, in classifying a white policeman shooting a black person in Ferguson, Mo as a racist attack.
---
The "Zer0 vs Zer0" game Is reportedly the highest rated game EVER on ESPN. Hmmm, I guess it was a probable once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for most of the country to watch a championship game not involving a SEC/Southern team so their conference had a chance to win.
---
How come, in the minds of liberals, the Islamic jihadists do not represent Islam as a religion, but then are quick to associate Westboro Baptist Church with Christianity and Baptists?
---
Liberals have lost it! Alan Colmes, Mr Uber-lib, was on Fox News, using quotes of Bush43 to justify..defend Obamageddon's failure to come yo the support of France's terror attack.
---
L-E headline: "Brian P. Roslund jailed on theft, racketeering charges * Former Senate candidate under investigation for missing funds from rehab center" -- "theft..racketeering"? That probably makes hima shoo-in for the Democratic Party candidate to run against Isakson!
---
L-E headline/story: "MUSCOGEE COUNTY SCHOOLS * Second grader brings 9 mm pistol to Davis Elementary * “Where a student is determined by the Student Discipline Tribunal to have brought a weapon to school, that student shall be expelled from school for a period of not less than one calendar year; however, the local board of education may modify such expulsions on a case-by-case basis,” according to the policy." -- Hey, what about a check into whether the gun was legally owned by the child's parent(s)?
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": " Congratulations and best of luck to the mayor and councilors just sworn in for new terms. Thanks for your service." -- Hey... Madam mayor... curtail your staff!

I am beginning to rethink why I subscribe to the e-edition of the L-E... I'm now thinking I got more dependable service when I subscribed to the print edition.

Online headline: "Elizabeth Warren: I'm not running for president" -- Hmmm... somebody must have showed her the results of almost-as-left-as-she-is results of Democratic candidate George McGovern....
---
To local Columbus, GA merchants: Your sales tax collection figure for January sales should be reconfigured to 7%. The 1% MCSD 2009 SPLOST expired at midnight on December 31, 2014. If you call your accountant and he/she tells you it's still 8%, what he/she is talking about is that on your January Sales Tax report to the state is 8% because... get this BECAUSE you will be reporting December 2014 sales. If your accountant doesn't clarify that you can't charge but 7% on new January sales.. get you a new accountant... fast!
---
The average sales taxes collected in GA are 6.97% ..which is still lower than outs AFTER the 2009 MCD SPLOST was recently removed. Of note is that Oregon, Montana, Delaware and Vermont do not charge any sales taxes. If we STUPIDLY add the 1% 2015 MCSD SPLOST back on, locally, we will jump back into the number 13 spot nationally as a highest community sales taxed entity.
---
Online story: "Carolyn Kesel was arrested and charged with a felony DWI after she was caught driving drunk ... on vanilla extract. * The 46-year-old registered at three times the legal limit after consuming two bottles of the baking ingredient." -- Story disclosed that vanilla extract is 41% alcohol,, what's worse is that the story also mentioned peppermint and orange extracts are up to 89% alcohol. Guess we can't send our teen children to the grocery store to pick up baking ingredients anymore.
---
From the "is there zero shame to be a registered Democratic Party voter" department - Online story: "A Virginia lawmaker who resigned his seat following a sex scandal involving a teenager has won it back in a special election. * Joe Morrissey defeated two opponents in the Richmond-area House of Delegates race Tuesday - a feat he accomplished while serving six months in jail on a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. * The Democrat resigned under pressure after his December conviction, then angered legislators from both parties by running as an independent for the seat * The 57-year-old Morrissey denies allegations that he had sex with a 17-year-old girl who worked as a receptionist in his law office. He entered a plea deal to avoid a felony trial. * Through four elections, most voters have overlooked or even embraced Joseph D. Morrissey's flamboyant history of fistfights, contempt of court citations and disbarment. The 57-year-old bachelor, who fathered three children out of wedlock with three different women, repeatedly won at least 70 percent of the vote as a Democrat" -- what else can I add...
---
Online headline: "Cops fire tear gas into crowds of Ohio State fans * As revelers spilled out of bars near the Ohio State campus Tuesday, they were met by police and pepper spray. * 30-40 trash can fires reported" -- Mainstream media must be disappointed that stores weren't looted and burned .....
---
HuffPOO story: "The House passed a measure Tuesday to dramatically restrict the government's ability to enact any significant new regulations or safety standards, potentially hamstringing the efforts of every federal agency, from financial regulators to safety watchdogs. * With the GOP in the majority, it is at least likely to get a vote in the upper chamber. * "It really covers the entire spectrum of public health and safety, worker health and safety, financial protections, consumer product protections -- just about everything that you can think about for which the government has a responsibility to ensure the public is being protected, * The White House has threatened to veto it." -- Applaud the new Republican leadership for jumping on this process, which, under the Obamageddon Administration, has allowed government agencies to bypass Congress in making up their policies and rules.
---
You know.. things would sail smoother if the MCSD Board and School Administration would remember that they work for the taxpayers, and kept us better informed... intentionally. Well, at least pretended they liked us. Full audit or no SPLOST!
---
Stupid Republicans tricks : 1 - "Texas Republican Randy Weber, who represents a district in suburban Houston, wrote on Twitter that even Adolf Hitler went to Paris, a swipe at President Barack Obama skipping the massive freedom rally over the weekend"., and 2 - "Huckabee slams Obamas over parenting skills * The former Arkansas governor has accused the president and his wife of 'parenting by double-standard.' -- Gentlemen.. the public can see the truth, but being petty about these things just turns the public indignation on the wrong party
---
Online story: "VALLEY, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama middle school principal wants to stockpile cans of corn and peas in classrooms for students to hurl at possible intruders as a last resort defense. * In a letter Friday, W.F. Burns Middle School Principal Priscella Holley asked parents to have each student bring an 8-ounce canned item. * "We realize at first this may seem odd; however, it is a practice that would catch an intruder off guard," she wrote in the letter, published by TV station WHNT in Huntsville." -- Is this what the education system considers good leadership for students? Let's forget about the stupidity aspect of the principal, but for argument sake, wouldn't just picking up stones around the school for students to throw be better? They are free, and if nothing else, several hundred rocks would eliminated from the children's playground. Of course. it would save tax dollars as well, because many of the canned goods would probably be paid for out of federal dollars used for the free/reduced lunch programs.
---
The NYPD needs to send the Mayor a message...in fact, the NYPD should put 911 on an automatic forward to his office and home phones. Hmmm.. might be a good idea locally as well; our Mayor will actually know about our crime rate.
---
Whittlesey Road widening project update: It's about 10 til 4:00 PM Tuesday.. there are a dozen pieces of equipment and 9 employees out and about...all with one thing in common..nothing is actually working. My guess is that they don't want to finish the project on time.
---
Online quote source: "“The greatest discovery of any generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering the attitudes of their minds.” - Albert Schweitzer " -- Hmm imagine the improvements in this country if liberal minds could be altered positively...
---
Jonathan Gruber stupid L-E "soundoff": "One must remember that over $2 of that $4 burger is pure profit." -- Good grief.. does public education not teach anything about the world beyond liberal fact creation? There is no such thing as "pure profit".. there is "gross profit" and "net profit", but if a liberal wants to jump on anybody, it should be the federal government which nets more in taxes than most companies net in actual "net profit" (oh.. for you libs.. "net profit" is something businesses hope exists after paying expenses and taxes)
---
Jonathan Gruber stupid L-E "soundoff": " Every day I see a fund or special account to pay someone else’s bills, like medical bills, burial expenses and a plethora of others. Why not a SPLOST to pay bills for everybody? -- I have a slim hope the writer was being sarcastic, but since this is the L-E editors pick, I sorta have to go with my hunches that this could possibly be submitted directly by Jonathan Gruber. So... let's "cut to the bottom line.. why not every body just turn over their salaries, entitlement checks, and life savings/pension funds to Obamageddon for him to make good on his promise to give us everything for free. IRS could be eliminated, property taxes (no one would own any) would be eliminated, even sales taxes would be eliminated. Wow.. Utopia! Better hold onto your guns, though, cause you will need them in a few months when Obamageddon runs out of other people's money.
---
L-E healine: "France: Terror funding, attack weapons came from abroad" -- As Gomer Pyle was apt to exclaim, "Surprise - Surprise - Surprise!"...... To this I add...NOT!
---
L-E headline: "AMAZON SIGNS WOODY ALLEN TO CREATE HIS fiRST TV SERIES" -- Let's pray it doesn't prey on teenaged girl audiences.
---
L-E "headlie" - "Man accused of burning woman with hot water" -- Hmmm.. "burning"... with water? Perhaps scalding, but if the L-E has figured out how to set water afire, liberals will rejoice at the possibility of eliminating oil/gas as vehicle fuel.

Pric Holder was in France when the march of solidarity was going on. He says he couldn't attend because he was having a meeting on world terrorism. Huh? Who was he meeting with..ISIS..al Qaida.. Al Sharlatan..the rest of free world, except for American officials, including Holder, were locked arm-in-arm to show which countries would support each other.
---
The White House is spouting "security issues " as the reason neither Obamageddon nor Bleep Veep Biden went to France and joined other world leaders in standing strong together. Wait a minute..Obamageddon never has a security problem with joining all those leaders for a G-8 or G-20 meeting.
---
Speaking of world-wide solidarity.. did anyone see any Muslim countries locked arm-in-arm with the the rest of the countries?
---
You know...with the current tensions with mid-Eastern situation, you'd think the Shriners would rethink using a "Fez" as its signature symbol.
---
Good grief..White House spinmeisters are countering arguments about job creations the Keystone Pipeline XL would make by saying "we" could put those same workers on hiway or bridge repairs . The problem is that just putting more people fixing roads & bridges, as the White House proposes, doesn't produce revenues! On the other hand, taxes created by pipeline construction and oil running through those pipes would produce revenues that could pay for road & bridge repairs every year.
---
Online headline: "UVa fraternity Phi Kappa Psi reinstated, cleared of gang rape" -- But where's the rest of the story... you know, about the genderist, sexist President, Teresa Sullivan, and her being fired?
---
You know.. I'm glad to hear that Obamageddon is planning to "Veto" bills that the Congress sends him.. at least he has to stick around Washington more and go on vacation less.
---
HuffPOO headline: "Massacre Survivors Say Boko Haram Slaughtered Civilians 'Like Insects'" -- Hey Al-Sharlatan.. why aren't you in Nigeria protesting the mass killings of unarmed black families? Your "Black Lives Matter" signs would be most appropriate, and Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan, would value your advice, too.
---
Online headline: "CAPITAL CHAOS: NTSB probes how DC station filled with deadly smoke" -- Hmm.. guess the Republicans could only take so much of Obabgeddon's smoke blown up them and the rest end up in the bowels of Washington, DC.
---
Online story: "A 42-year-old Vietnam-era OH-58A Bell Kiowa helicopter, given to Newark for free from the U.S. Army in 2005 as part of a military surplus program, has cost the city more than $2 million to refurbish, maintain and operate, according to documents obtained by NJ Advance Media. * The helicopter also has been equipped with a night vision system that allows pilots to see in the dark and a receiver to track stolen cars, despite the city’s budget problems which, most notably, forced then-Mayor Cory Booker to lay off 167 cops in 2010." -- Wow.. a pretty photo-op for Booker that has turned into a photo-bomb...and now Booker is a Democrat Senator in Washington who can help Newark even less.
---
Hmmm.. The big 0 vs 0 game...final score, I guess, was 0 to 0...anyway....it is a Big 0 in my book.
---
Good grief...if you buy an electric car, sometime in the future you probably will have to call GA Power if your car won't start. Oh.. in in California.. you'll be calling ConEd.. good luck with them, too.
---
Wonder if anyone has thought about all the electric cars that will be stuck in college football parking lots after the batteries are drained powering up tailgate electronics?
---
WTVM 9 - story:"Niche has released its 2015 list of best public school districts in the state of Georgia, and Metro Atlanta schools top the list. * Harris County and Muscogee County Schools come in at number 37 and 39, respectively. * the average graduation rate in Muscogee County is 68 percent, below the national average of 81 percent." -- Good grief.. where would Muscogee County fit into the list if Columbus High, the IB schools, and Britt David weren't counted?
---
Details on above story: "Muscogee County Schools is centered in Columbus, Georgia. It has 32,231 students attending 61 schools in grades PK and K-12. According to state standards, 82% of students in this district are considered proficient in math and/or reading. The district has an annual budget of $350,389,000, spending an average of $10,852 per student. ----
Harris County Schools is centered in Hamilton Township, Georgia. It has 5,089 students attending 7 schools in grades PK and K-12. According to state standards, 91% of students in this district are considered proficient in math and/or reading. The district has an annual budget of $46,763,000, spending an average of $9,332 per student.
You know what's even sadder.. with the exception of Brookstone, not one other private school in Columbus charges as much per student as is spent on our public schools per child.
---
Just got word that there are only 50 seats left to hear Mayor TomLYINGson's "State of the City" spiel on January 20th. Of course, unless you are a member of the Chamber.. there are no seats left for the public according to the Chamber website.
---
Hmmm.. why doesn't Mayor TomLYINGson just hold the "State of the City" speech at the Civic Center...that way Council and City employees could get free tickets?
---
Anybody heard any updates on Bergdahl and Tahmooressi? Mainstream media has moved on...
---
Wow...even Alan Colmes..Mr Uber-lib himself is upset that Islamic jihadists could attack
---
You know....I think I'd rather see Obamageddon smoking cigarettes in public than him walking around chewing gum with his mouth open.
---
L-E story: "Columbus State University’s request to tear down all of the non-historic parts of the Ledger-Enquirer building downtown to make room for the College of Education and Health Professions was approved by the Board of Historic and Architectural Review, * The board voted unanimously to allow the demolition, but the university, represented by Barnes, Gibson, Patel Architects, must come back with design changes on the new structure that will be the corner of 12th Street and Broadway. * “We don’t like the concept,” board member Brinkley Pound said during the 45-minute discussion.* Almost all of the six board members attending the meeting expressed concerns" -- I can see this heading to a collision of community concern versus CSU's exemption from City recourse. All you have to do is look at the Facade Board violations that the City cannot enforce on a state entity owned facility. Everything from incompatible signage to flashing sign lights strictly enforced on non-university businesses. Regardless.. another property taken out of the tax revenue system of the City but at the same time adds more expenses to police and fire security.
---
An even sadder result is that "we" just passed a bill that will let CSU sell the dormitory portion to a private real estate management company to run, and the private company will retain the tax exempt status of the CSU. Meanwhile, CSU's property purchasing accounts get restocked by the sale to buy other properties it will take out of the tax base and revenue source of Columbus.
A commenter on the L-E story above, L** M***** , describes her job as "L** M***** · School Bus Monitor--Specail Ed. at Muscogee County School District " -- Good grief... "Specail Ed"? Our school systems is even in worse shape than we could ever imagine! On top of that, she writes she is a Columbus High grad!
---
L-E headline/story: "KNIGHT CITIES CHALLENGE * Three local ideas among 126 Knight finalists *
A total of 146 ideas were submitted from Columbus * The three local finalists are:

1 - "Death of the Bench, submitted by B***** P*****. It involves replacing fixed benches in public spaces with mobile tables and chairs that can be arranged in multiple configurations and monitored by sensors in real time to improve community engagement." -- Hmmm, and how long before those are taken and sold for scrap metal.. remember the bolted down stadium seats that disappeared?
2 - "Minimum Grid: Maximum Impact, submitted by A*** K***, executive director of Midtown, Inc. It would establish a grid of bicycle and pedestrian lanes to connect the entertainment and business district of Uptown with the 24 diverse neighborhoods of MidTown." - Just what MidTown "needs" easier access to MidTown Neighborhoods by thugs.

3 - Property Development Using Community Gardens, submitted by J** L********* at the River Valley Regional Commission. It would adapt vacant lots into community gardens and use the gardens as a springboard to develop the real estate management skills of local residents." -- Good grief! Has anyone asked him about why private rental housing yards are unkempt.. at best? Private ownership encourages maintaining the property.. and what about watering systems that would be destroyed if a lot was rebuilt on.. or, for that matter.. who pays the Water Company bills?
The best projects are ones that people take personal interest in to start and maintain.. All three are "band-aids" at best.. but from a liberal point-of-view.. there is good intent...
---
Jonathan Gruber stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": "Pope Francis for president of the United States. But wait … maybe the entire world needs him. We must share this amazing man, sent from God" -- Just because Obamageddon may have gotten away with a technicality or fraud.. don't think we don't know exactly where Pope Francis was born!
---
L-E's "Quotable": “I attribute my success to this — I never gave or took any excuse.” - Florence Nightingale American social activist (1820-1910)" -- \No "excuses"? Obviously not the poster child nor matron sainte of liberals..
---
L-E commentary headline: "Editorial - Transportation funding demands creative math" -- No.. it demands better basic (versus Common Core) math skills. It's called living within your budget!
