The Oscars... Hollywood had a Flintstones yabba dabba doo type time last night. Yes, it was a gay old time.

---
Speaking of the Oscars... was that "chia hair" on John Travolta?
---
No, no, no, no, no... I did not watch the Oscars... I did see a few minutes as my bride and child settled in to see "what 'they' were wearing in the pre-Oscars show before I left to watch another channel on another TV.. I'm just 'reporting' from online observances this AM.
---
Online headline: "Another Massive Winter Storm Bears Down On The East Coast" -- Do you think God is trying to bury Algore's thoughts of a political comeback?
---
HuffPost headline: "Obama To Speak To Allies On Ukraine" -- Hmmm, can you name one that's still on board?
---
HuffPost headline: "US prepares tough response for Russia * John Kerry heading to Kiev" -- Huh? Sending a man who led anti-war protests, and was the obvious model for one of the Muppets as the voice of American resolve and power is a tough response? Gimmee a break. Putin will have to really put on his best serious face to keep from laughing.

You know, with elimination of the "don't ask, don't tell", and the elimination of the ban of women in combat, added to the separation of church and state, there would be no moral or gender issue or religious exclusions from the draft that has to be considered in a war situation following the military downsizing.. Looks like we could see a lot of liberals squealing in the near future.

L-E story: "Vermont officials say they're launching a new version of an online tutorial to help new drivers prepare for their learner's permit exam. * Officials say the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles was the first to launch an interactive, online tutorial for drivers in 2010, but that the version did not work on mobile devices." -- "did not work on mobile devices"? Good grief....we tell our teens to "study" for their driving tests, and we tell them not to use their cellphones while driving, but Vermont is making it easy for them to just cheat on their driving exam. Even if they pass, what's the driving examiner going to do.. give'em their first ticket for driving while distracted?

HuffPost headline/story: "There's Not One Home for Sale in San Francisco That an Average Teacher Can Afford * the real estate listings website Redfin published a startling statistic. In the entire city of San Francisco, not one home or apartment is available on the market for under $220,000" -- Excuse me.. then how much are we paying our teachers in MCSD?
---
From above story: "Having fewer residents with kids may make taxpayers place less value on funding education, which could lead to relative pay reductions (as opposed to just hiring fewer teachers). * Whether the affordability squeeze in San Francisco ever eases will partly depend on whether the housing market cools off-and whether the wealth pouring into the city ever translates to higher pay for middle class workers, including the city's teachers." -- Hmm.. now we're getting down to the crux of the situation.. teachers' unions in a snobby alternative lifestyle community that has Nancy Pelosi as its representative.

Here's a political tip for local Council/Mayoral race candidates: The $1,000,000.00 round-a-bout at Cascade Rd/Green Island Drive intersection. Scrapping such plans not only would save $1,000,000.00, but would make you the friend of all Green Island area voters. There are only 2 possible exits (by car... if you have access to water and a boat, you could park at the public marina) from the main area of Green Island so when the construction of the round-a-bout starts, traffic ingress/egress will be severely hampered (if not virtually impossible in an emergency) during such period, but even after it's finished.. there will be chaos at the immediate abutment at the River Road traffic light. I cannot see where any input was made by an engineer. Promise to stop it, and you'll get my attention and consideration for my vote and support.

While I haven't seen/heard it on Fox News (or mainstream media?? gimmee a break), there's rumblings of Chinese military alignments/bases in Mexico and Canada.. I'm not going to push any conspiracy theories, but from a military strategy point of view.. it's genius. Pric Holder would probably send them weapons, and the troops could just walk over the borders unhampered.
---
Online story: "A White House official emailed some reporters to say that President Obama's team met today to discuss the ongoing situation on Ukraine. It appears President Obama did not attend. * "The President's national security team met today to receive an update on the situation in Ukraine and discuss potential policy options. We will provide further updates later this afternoon," reads the full statement." -- Hmmm, and it was not even a day the golf course in the DC area were open....

Why do we pay teachers/administrators "vacation pay"? Most don't use it, but accumulate it to use later as shortening period to retire early. Besides, they get more vacation time during the school year than most of us get from our 12 month jobs, plus most get 6-8 weeks off during the summer months.

Online story: "“Barbers in Toronto, Canada who refused to cut a lesbian's hair have become the target of a human rights complaint, in a case that pits religious freedom against gender equality. When Faith McGregor went into the Terminal Barber Shop requesting a short haircut, she was told the shop only grooms men. The reason, co-owner Omar Mahrouk said, was that as a Muslim he could not cut the hair of a woman who was not related to him. * The barber appealed to his Islamic religious beliefs for the refusal. This would be similar to an orthodox Jew or Islamic butcher who refused to slaughter a pig because of specific religious requirements regarding handling certain unclean meats. -- heh heh heh so much for Canadian refuge for LGBT draft dodgers when the military cutback cause the draft to be reinstated.

The "Dignity" Vietnam War Memorial has a sorta permanent home.. for a few years anyway. Now it's at rest at a most wonderful location.. at the National Infantry Museum just outside Ft Benning.. it's quite appropriate.. perhaps the most appropriate location it could be. Write whomever you know to campaign for it being there permanently.

Looks like were going to get injury to insult soon. The new Phenix City Marriott will open late this summer. Seemingly, that's a good thing, but there be 99 rooms with the best river view of any Columbus area hotel/motel that won't be collecting Columbus LOST, SPLOST, T-SPLOST or the room taxes our Council/Mayor fought so hard to collect from Expedia. It's not just 99 rooms that are more desirable for the efforts and expense Columbus tax dollars were poured into, it's 99 rooms that will get filled at the expense of Columbus, GA facilities.

Thinking voter's L-E "soundoff": "TIME FOR A SCHEDULE CHANGE - We need to change the school year to March through November. Vacation months December through February. This would take care of most potential “snow” days." -- Hey, we already have them air conditioned, and the school board keeps a lot of them open in the summer anyway for breakfast/lunch programs, so why not? Besides. it would be cheaper to heat them in the unused Winter months for feeding programs than it is to air-condition them in the Summer months.
---
Low info voter's L-E "soundoff": " I love to eat but because of the new rules in the food stamp office I don’t have anything to eat." -- You know... once in a while we pick up info from unexpected sources.. I, for one, andprobably a lot of you, too, did not know there were ANY rules at the food stamp office..
---
L-E's "Thought for Today": “Some people stay longer in an hour than others do in a month.” — William Dean Howells, American author and editor (1837-1920)." -- Hmmm, Wonder how many hours too long Judas 00-Barnum's 8 years in office will compute out to be?
---
L-E story: "New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who plans to skip the nation’s largest St. Patrick’s Day parade because participants are banned from carrying signs or banners identifying themselves as gay, joined the gay-friendly St. Pat’s For All Parade Sunday, saying it honors the traditions of the city by celebrating inclusion." -- Oh, he's skipping the primary St Pat's Parade because in excludes homosexual/lesbian exclusionary groups. Hmmm, the Mayor is not 100% inclusive as he wants to appear. Shouldn't he do both?
---
L-E story: " Thousands of anti-government activists marched peacefully Sunday to an upper-class Caracas district shaken by more than two weeks of unrest, trying to maintain the movement’s momentum during a long holiday break. * Afterward, several hundred protesters erected barricades, burned tires and threw rocks and fireworks at National Guard troops, who responded with tear gas in what has become a nearly nightly ritual of clashes since mid-February. No injuries were immediately reported." -- "marched peacefully"? Has anyone from mainstream media thought that this may actually have been a revolution with by a citizens' militia that didn't have the right to bear arms?
