You know... the "black box" on airplanes is obsolete. It doesn't matter how impervious to damage it's made, it's useless if it can't be recovered. With todays technology, why aren't planes equipped with a transponder which works with satellites to record plane functions and pilot conversations. Heck the NSA may even prove useful for a change.

Online story: "A life-sized animatronic Abe Lincoln is among the historical figures and tableau scenes from a Gettysburg wax museum set to hit the auction block just months after the town celebrated the 150th anniversary of his "Gettysburg Address." * The has occupied a prime spot near the center of the battlefield for more than half a century. But it recently underwent an extensive renovation and wants to take a new approach to history. * "The Park Service does a fabulous job of telling the story about the battle," said Tammy Myers, who runs the facility for FutureStake Inc. "We don't all need to be telling the same story." -- Huh? "we don't all need to be telling the same story"? Hpow... no, why do you attempt to re-write known history 150 years later? What're you gonna do.. say the North won this month and the South won next month?
---
Online story: "The state Department of Revenue released the figures on Monday, which showed how much Colorado has taken in from both medical and recreational marijuana taxes and fees. * The medical marijuana sales for January generated an additional $900,000 in sales tax, for a total tax revenue of $2.9 million for both sides of the state's marijuana dispensary market. Including fees, the figure jumps to $3.5 million." -- Pathetic! Pathetic that the Colorado government officials only concern is how to spend the tax revenue coming in, but no concern as to what the future expenses that abuse of such will entail.

Online story: "Individuals in Mexican military uniforms drew their guns on a U.S. border agent earlier this year after having crossed the southwestern border into Arizona, a U.S. senator claimed, raising concerns once again that Mexican officials are illegally crossing into the U.S. and, worse, potentially aiding the drug cartels. * The incident described by Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., would appear to be one of dozens over the past decade where Mexican military and law enforcement officers have crossed into U.S. territory. Most are presumed to be accidental," -- Hmmm, maybe the Mexican Army feels that it might can get food stamps and other benefits Mexico doesn't offer... as far as the possibility of being "accidental" goes.. it highlights the need for a border fence... NOW!

Online headline: "Consumer Reports Names The Best And Worst Car Brands" -- Hmmm... the top 5 cars, according to the liberal's consumer bible are foreign labels (with special note that BMW & Mercedes are not included), and the bottom 5 are all American icons.. one is even the luxury flagship of Government Motors, Cadillac, which barely kept ahead of Dodge.
---
L-E story: "During the murder trial of Lonnie Jacob Ragan, deputies with the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office, charged with securing the courtrooms and building, loaded Ragan onto a public elevator and moved him off the 11th floor. * A public elevator. * That is not how it is supposed to work. There is a prisoner elevator that has a cell inside it that deputies normally use to transport inmates. It was broken last week." -- Well, it just highlights how inefficiently the buildings are maintained. We get dog parks, bicycle trails, make memorial parks out of land that wasn't a cemetery, pay for constructing a river amusement ride so a private business can make money, but let taxpayer investments fall into disrepair.. Just proves the Mayor is more interested in buying votes for re-election than she is in the future of Columbus.
---
L-E story: "The city’s Planning Department will ask Columbus Council Tuesday for permission to enter into a contract with the Georgia Department of Transportation to build a $244,000 public restroom on the RiverWalk beneath the Frank Martin Memorial Bridge, according to council’s agenda" -- Well, there she goes again.. Mayor Obamalinson wanting to spend money on bathrooms on the Riverwalk rather than maintaining the Government Center. Not just any bathroom, but a $244.000.00 one! It doesn't matter where the tax dollars are coming from, they originate in and are taken out of the citizens' pockets. Ironically, the $244.000.00 is about the same as Mayor Obamalinson thinks the city would save from cutting garbage collections in half. Well, it just shows she considers her "crap" and garbage is more important than our garbage.

Had a 2 hour sit down and talk meeting with one of our Councilors yesterday concerning the round-a-bout plans at the 6-way intersection of River Road-Bradley Park Drive-Green Island Drive, N & S, and Cascade Roads. What the plans are is worse than I imagined before I saw them. There are options that the State DOT could make that would be improvement at minimum costs. but I guess the State DOT just doesn't think they are big enough to warrant its efforts and attention,. Instead, the State DOT is happy with sending logging trucks and semis, and school and touring buses through a residential area without a concern about worsening the existing traffic situation or the dangers of an acute turn causing load weight shifts of loggers and semi-trailers and falling onto unsuspecting passenger vehicles. Like I said earlier, there are solutions the state can make but have said they are not interested in doing simple things.

Can you believe what, uh, who, Judas 00-Barnum has nominated for Surgeon General. There oughta be a law against nominating gun wusses for any national office/cabinet position. It's downright unAmerican!
---
You know...charitable non-profits, 501(c) x corporations , should have a restriction on total compensation given to staff of no more than 10% of revenues from donations and/or grants. Less than 10% would even be better.... especially for the cause the non-profit is championing. I know of one such org in town that pays its ED over 20% of revenue receipts, and most of those are government grants. It's just WRONG!

Online story: " Peru's government says that once Dutch citizen Joran van der Sloot completes his murder conviction in 2038, he will be extradited to the United States to face trial on charges he extorted and defrauded the mother of a young American woman for whose disappearance he is the chief suspect. * A decree published Sunday in Peru's official gazette says he will be extradited under an indictment in U.S. District Court in the state of Alabama." -- Wait a minute! WE DON"T WANT HIM! The State Department needs to tell Peru to keep and board him itself. Better yet, make sure he doesn't "graduate" after 38 years.
---
Teddy Roosevelt's policy statement was "Speak softly and carry a big stick".. It worked. Judas 00-Barnum's policy is "talk incessantly and be a big shtick."
---
I'm not sure why there's celebration in the Republican Party for Rand Paul winning the "straw poll vote". 31% of conservative group is not a landslide, and indicates a lot more research is needed before building a platform for 2014 & 2016 that will overturn Congress and the White House.
---
You know..Judas 00-Barnum does have a scapegoat he can truly blame for a lot of the increasing National Debt... inherited spending plans that just won't go away.... Trouble is, he has to blame LBJ and the Democrat Congress of 1964-65 who set up the "War on Poverty", which means he would have to admit continued spending is wasted, and it's been a complete failure. What's that definition of "insanity" ... to keep doing the same thing over and over and getting the same results...

The news inaccuracies associated with the missing aircraft in Southeast Asia are an indicator of the problem with electronic news reporting. Networks are so anxious to be the first, well, not be the last, to report the news, that fact checking has been dropped from their priorities.
---
Online quote source: "“Opinion has caused more trouble on this little earth than plagues or earthquakes.” - Voltaire" -- Good grief.. even the French knew what to expect of the future. Voltaire died in 1778, two years after our Independence, yet he foresaw the election of Judas 00-Barnum.

L-E headline/story: "PHENIX CITY SCHOOL BOARD * DICHIARA SUES BOARD MEMBERS — AGAIN 8 Former Superintendent Larry Di-Chiara again has sued the members of the Phenix City Board of Education in their official capacity." -- Hmmm, are we sure his name is Larry? Sounds more like he could have been the boy Johnny Cask wrote about named Sue.
---
L-E headline: "Columbus Council to consider downtown traffic proposal" -- Ypu know.. there's nothing in the report that indicates making the changes to traffic movement on 10th and 12th Streets would actually be an improvement.. and doing nothing would save headaches, disorder, and the $400,000.00 projected costs. Now, someone needs to be held accountable for spending money on the feasibility study and report to Council. It won't kill anybody to drive an extra couple of blocks.

L-E story: "(Superintendent) Lewis has estimated the district can save $4 million to $4.5 million by changing from the eight-period schedule to seven periods because it would allow reducing the high school staff by about 15 percent. He has said he intends to do that through attrition and reassignments, but he can’t guarantee there wouldn’t be layoffs" -- "by "attrition and reassignments"? "can't guarantee there wouldn'y be layoffs"? First, why hadn't the School Board been on top of this in the past.. it sounds as if we've been paying 15% more people than we have actually needed. If this will eliminate 15% of the total 6,000 current employees we have for 32,000 students, it will put us back near the 5,000 employee mark we had in 18990 when we had 32,000 students as well. The question to long standing Board members, John Wells in particular, is why we've been paying the extra 1,000 employees over the past 25 +/- years!
---
From the above story: ""(Superintendent) Lewis has estimated the district can save $4 million to $4.5 million by changing from the eight-period schedule to seven periods because it would allow reducing the high school staff by about 15 percent." -- Wait a minute.. how can cutting 15% of the staff save only $4,500,000.00? 15% of 6,000 employees would be 900 people, and if cutting 900 people only saves $4,500,000.00 dollars than those 900 people have only been making $5,000.00 a year. "New Math" ain't gonna answer this question.

L-E story: "HARTFORD, Conn. — Peter L(_*_)nza, the father of Sandy Hook Elementary School killer Adam L(_*_)nza, said in an interview in The New Yorker that he wished his second-born son who shot 20 elementary school children and six educators “had never been born.” -- You know.. thinking about abortions.. one might have really been justified... one Peter L(_*_)nza's mother should have had. With a "fatherly attitude like his, you can almost be sympathetic about his son's plight.. ah-ah-ah I said "almost".
---
L-E headline: " KERRY DELAYS MEETING WITH PUTIN OVER UKRAINE IMPASSE" -- Yeah, right.. Kerry has delayed a meeting with Putin.. Sounds more like Putin is probably playing "Red light, Green Light" with Kerry.
---
L-E's "Quotable" : “Good morals lead to good laws.” Chuck Norris Martial arts actor (1940-)" -- How simply and succinctly Norris has slammed the Democrats.
---
L-E headline: "Do mobile devices promote distracted parenting? -- Good grief... you mean there has to be a survey/poll asked about parents that give their preteens $700.00 iPhiones?
---
L-E headline: "BLACK TWITTER FLEXING MUSCLES ON AND OFFLINE" -- You know, this just exemplifies the L-E/mainstream media mission to re-segregate America, yet will still accuse whites, in general, and the Republican Party on being exclusionary.
---
Repeat since it has made the L-E - L-E story: " Aretha Franklin has much R-E-S-P-E-C-T for President Barack Obama — regardless of his spelling skills. At a White House concert last Thursday, Obama dropped the initial “E” when trying to spell out “respect” as the queen of soul does in her famous song. “I’m sure the President had much on his agenda and was just a little tired" -- You know... there's not a liberal writer who does not forget the Dan Quayle "potato" fiasco for adding an "e". Will the liberals just forget Judas 00-Barnum's "rspect" and leaving out an "e" with the same vindictive fervor?
