Online headline/story: "Federal court says Texas voter ID violates Voting Rights Act * A federal appeals court ruled Wednesday that Texas' voter ID law has a "discriminatory" effect on minorities in a victory for President Barack Obama, whose administration took the unusual step of bringing the weight of the U.S. Justice Department to fight a wave of new ballot-box restrictions passed in conservative statehouses.
the Texas law signed by then-Gov. Rick Perry is widely viewed as one of the nation's toughest. It requires one of seven forms of approved identification, but unlike other states with voter ID restrictions, Texas doesn't recognize university IDs from college students. It does, however, accept concealed handgun licenses as proof of identity. * Free voting IDs are available from the state, but opponents have said getting those cards still put underlying financial costs on voters, such as paying for birth certificate copies and travel." -- Good grief.. Having a photo-ID is required just to get a tour of the White House, surely having one to vote to prove residency and eligibility is more sacred. The thing that "gets me" the most is the "College ID" objection. What does a college ID show? It shows you are attending a college, but it doesn't show that you are a resident of that district or state, or for that matter.. America.

---
Hey Parents... if a state must allow your out-of-state child to vote based on his/her college ID, it must make your child's residence in that state "legal", so there's a great chance you can sue the state if it is charging you an out-of-state tuition upcharge!

Online headline/story: "Hillary Clinton Attacks Jeb Bush During Colorado Trip * Bush had already said he misspoke when he mused that the federal government might not need to spend the entire $500 million it gives to Planned Parenthood to operate health clinics, but that didn’t stop Clinton said: "When you attack Planned Parenthood, you attack women’s health, and when you attack women’s health, you attack America’s health." "Planned Parenthood...health clinics"? How is an abortion factory a health clinic for female (or male) fetuses? Birth control is also managing the birth of a baby in a safe manner.

---
If Planned Parenthood is a health clinic, is it equipped to handle high risk pregnancies to term? Does Planned Parenthood consider having a baby born alive in one of its "health centers" a Pro-Choice option?

Online headline/story: "City of Chicago bombarded by dragonflies * If you've spent any time out by the lake in recent days, or any body of water, you might notice the Chicago area is being bombarded by dragonflies. * the reason behind the onslaught of the Green Darner, that's the very large and very fast dragonflies, can be found in the skies above: Rain. * A very wet June, has brought the Green Darner out early this year and in large quantities thanks to the food supply created by the rain." -- I see Obamageddon must have let Chicago borrow some of his professional lying staff to make this announcement.. there's not a mention that the "food" dragonflies favor are mosquitoes, gnats and flies.

---
You know.. hearing Obamageddon get so strident about the opposition to his Iranian "deal" just adds to the speculation that he knows it is a bad deal for America.. If Obamageddon was sure this was good for America, he wouldn't be so touchy about it, as time would eventually prove him right.. Unfortunately, time is not on America's side.

I got an e-mail from Hillewinsky's "Digital Analyst".. He or she (OK, the "DA"'s name is Yahel.. does this give you a clue?) wrote: "Friend..Hi! I work on digital analytics at campaign headquarters, and I’m preparing data to help our team make some big decisions. I hand-picked you to be part of this program (well, I ran a query that hand-picked you, which is almost the same), so I would love to hear what you have to say!" -- Heh heh heh.. "would love to hear what I have to say?" I guess I can officially state that Hillewinsky is definitely "not in touch" with the constituency...

Online headline/story: "U.S. Rep. John Lewis: “We have a fight on our hands” * Marking the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, political and civil rights leaders gathered in Atlanta on Tuesday to call for Congress to restore some of the laws’ key tenets that were struck down two years ago. * He was joined by the Rev. Joseph Lowery, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Ambassador Andrew Young, Martin Luther King III, Mayor Kasim Reed and others. The meeting, which was held at the historic Wheat Street Baptist Church on Auburn Avenue and drew more than 100 people, was organized by King’s nonprofit, Realizing the Dream, and The Georgia Coalition for the People’s Agenda" -- "drew more than 100 people"? I imagine most, if not all, of them were mainscream media.. I have this to say to Democrat Lewis... it's time to STOP fighting and start trying to work with the major changes that have evolved over the past 50 years...I am proud to see the changes you fought for 50 years ago coming to fruition.. why aren't you?

Here in Columbus, 12th Street has recently been repaved.. I see markings similar to what the existing one-way traffic pattern is, but Council has already voted to return 12th Street back to 2-way traffic. Why is Council wasting tax dollars to remark the street to the old pattern rather than going ahead with the new one they voted on?

I went to a funeral for a dear friend yesterday. The family scheduled it for one of the coolest parts of the day, yet it was still sweltering. As the funeral started, a refreshing, and much needed and appreciated breeze came with it. As everyone obviously enjoyed the relief the breeze brought, I looked around and saw none of the trees outside the funeral area were moving from the breeze we were blessed with at that time. God is good.

---
While heading to the funeral, I was stopped by a train stopped on the tracks crossing 10th Avenue. I waited a couple of minutes and the train did not move. Knowing the only alternative to get to the cemetery involved a detour to a bridge that moved traffic over the train tracks, I U-turned and drove on MLK Blvd to Brown Avenue so I could cross the newly reopened bridge that crossed the tracks. I was stunned that a bridge that was built long ago when car traffic was minimal had been rebuilt as a 2-lane bridge again. This bridge is an important connector to major arteries in South Columbus.. Emergency vehicles know this is the route to get to and from South Columbus emergencies and Columbus Mid-Town Hospital. This bridge connects Brown Avenue to North Lumpkin Road, Cusseta Road, and Andrews Road and a couple of other residential access roads. Come on, government, if you;re going to spend tax dollars, stop wasting them on stop-gap solutions.. This bridge needed to be 4-laned if future development is the vision.

---
One more revelation occurred on my detour to my friends funeral.. to get back to the cemetray route, I had to return via Cusseta Road... as if the structural blight wasn't enough, every, well almost every property was fenced with barbed wire.. even the empty lots.. Council has approved a new bicycle/running trail through this area, but at what cost will it be for barbed wire and empty business structures being the prevalent landscaping?

It was of conflictory interest.. and pride, when I saw the daughter of a MCSD Athletic Administrator be highlighted as a scholarship winner for her academics.. unfortunately, she won one as a student from a Phenix City school. It's bad enough to allow MCSD employees to live in other GA counties, but it's insanity to allow MCSD employees to live in Alabama where their taxes do not benefit the system that employs them.

L-E's "Thought for Today, “If you want something done, ask a busy person to do it. The more things you do, the more you can do.” — Lucille Ball, American actress-comedian (born this date in 1911, died 1989)." -- Hmm.. sorta puts a huge hole in the welfare system concept of paying people who are not working.
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — A majority of blacks in the United States – more than 3 out of 5 – say they or a family member have personal experience with being treated unfairly by the police, and their race is the reason." -- C'mon, L-E and other mainscream media sources.. and DEMOCRATS.. stop being so lazy and dividing! How about asking the black families that obey the laws and see if they have a complaint with police officers.
---
L-E story: " A 14-year-old Columbus boy was punched in the face and robbed of his $200 Jordan shoes Monday night at Shirley Winston Park, according to a police report." -- I want to know one thing.. was the 14 year old who was robbed and beaten for his $200.00 Air Jordan basketball shoes receiving free or reduced cost meals from the MCSD?
---
L-E headline/story: "SURVEY: FIRMS ADDED 185,000 WORKERS IN JULY * Payroll processor ADP said Wednesday that companies added 185,000 jobs last month, down from 229,000 in June." -- Good grief.. summertime is when more, albeit temporary, jobs are created to fill in for vacationing employees. Having severe decreases is a sign that our young people are not getting jobs that offer insight and training for their future.. blame on economic, minimum wage, and OObamaCRAP uncertainties.
---
L-E story: "It’s going to be a great weekend to enjoy the Chattahoochee River. The Grand Columbus Whitewater Paddle returns to Columbus for a second year on Friday and Saturday. The goal of this year’s event, known as “The Grand 2.0,” is to host more than 1,500 paddlers. Promoters are expecting it to be the largest weekend of whitewater rafting ever in Columbus. The event is being presented by the Georgia Conservancy, Uptown Columbus, Whitewater Express and Sweetwater Brewing Company" -- presented by: "Sweetwater Brewing Company"? Good grief.. alcohol and water sports/events do not mix.. as much tragedy, and as much preventive tax dollars spent to discourage such and here comes an event sponsored by a brewing company.. shame of Whitewater Express, UPtown Columbus, and the Georgia Conservancy.

On this date in 1945, an atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan.. 3 days days later another was dropped on Nagasaki.. 5 days later.. Japan surrendered.. This is the nuclear deal Obamageddon should have offered Iran.
