L-E headline: "Columbus needs new minor league park on Golden Park site * by Chuck Williams" --  Chuck, you're about 26 years late in thinking about this.. In 1990, during my mayoral race , I made a suggestion during a forum that not only would the Golden Park property be a great site for a new Civic Center, but a new baseball/outdoor music facility could be built on the property now the home of Auto Nation.  I suggested that for $7.,000,000.00, a new facility could be built and Columbus could bid on the Olympic baseball action. Moving the baseball arena (also designed to accomodate outdoor music events) to the nort Columbus location would move it off of the perfect site for the Civic Center. The Civic Center would be the anchor for developing Broadway and the riverbank as an ebntertainment/restaurant/hotel area make some kind of trolley/tram transportation system a reality.  Even Council was abuzz with the thoughts..Council already had about $1.8 Million set for needed renovations of Golden Park in the works, and  after deliberation decided just to do those rather than spend the extra $5 Million on a new and better located facility. Then, in 1993, Council decided to spend $7 Million on adapting Golden Park for softball for the Olympics, Golden Park lost its identity and became the post Olympic albatross we have today. Now Columbus has neither a baseball, nor an outdoor music venue.

Oh, and can't you imagine the startling vision of a dynamic Civic Center building for those using our river or simply driving in from Alabama across the Oglethorpe Bridge?

Online headline: " Clinton Foundation reportedly hired cyber security firm after possible hack attack " -- "hired... after possible hack attack"?  Sorta like closing the barn door after the cows leave.. In the story, Clinton spinmeisters were quick to add that the attempts were similar to the Russian methods used in the DNC hack.. The Democrats are just not going to let go of blaming the Russian/Trump connection they are so desperately trying to make the issue rather than what's actually in those e-mails.

Online headline/story: ":Manafort helped funnel money to US lobbyists from pro-Putin Ukrainian party, report claims * Donald Trump's campaign chairman helped a pro-Russian governing party in Ukraine secretly route at least $2.2 million in payments to two prominent Washington lobbying firms in 2012, and did so in a way that effectively obscured the foreign political party's efforts to influence U.S. policy. *  Under federal law, U.S. lobbyists must declare publicly if they represent foreign leaders or their political parties and provide detailed reports about their actions to the Justice Department. A violation is a felony and can result in up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000." -- First - "helped a pro-Russian governing party in Ukraine"? Hmmm.. how come it's stated that "he helped", as we know if this were about the Clintons, it would read "alledgedly helped". Second - "U.S. lobbyists must declare publicly if they represent foreign leaders or their political parties"? Good grief.. both the Clintons are essentially lobbyists for dozens of foreign despots, and certainly should be in jail...

HuffPOOPOO headline: "To Combat Historic Murder Rate, Venezuela Crushes 2,000 Guns, Plans Registry Of Bullets" -- "registry of bullets"? Yeah.. right.. every drug cartel is standing in line make sure the government has a detailed list of the bullets they have on hand... NOT.. on the other hand, those guns were probably traceable to "ZERO-bama's "fast and furious" gun redistribution program.

Told you Trump is a really smart man. Yesterday, Trump had his first securiy briefing from the FBI. Trump took a security cleared, retired military man with him to sort through the info for bad info. Trump watched Comey cover for Hellary, too.

---
Hellary is such a scam... she's making a plea that the FBI make whatever they turn over to Congress be made public. Yeah, right, this is the same Hellary who won't release her speeches she made to banking entities who paid her big bucks then, and now are donating to her candidacy in spite her campaign speeches condemning big banking practices.

---
I would like to see the FBI notes taken with Hellary...mainly just to see the questions they asked. I also find it hard to believe there's anything in the notes "too secret" for any Congressperson because Comey said there wasn't anything to charge her with.

---
For the politically involved conservative and independent American citizen...what's so hard about realizing that when the establishment politicos of both parties want to maintain their status quo, then it means Trump is who is needed in Washington.

---
The U of New Mexico says using the word "crazy" cannot be used because it might offend people who are "mentally dusturbed". Hmmm, sounds like the committee that made this decision might be the "mentally disturbed" element on that campus.

---
How can any government entity state that voter ID laws are unconstitutional? Every mention of voter qualifications in the Constitution state citizenship is a requirement, so it is up to the individual to be able to confirm such status. Any government official should be purged, fired , or impeached if he/she feels differently.

---
Any way you figure it, Trump is more representative of conservatism than Hellary is representative of womanhood.

---
Democrats have divided this country so much that all their supporters are referenced by acronyms or hyphens. Trump supporters just think of themselves as Americans.

---
Last year, John Kerry, in capacity of Secretary of Stae said THE BIBLE COMMANDS AMERICA TO PROTECT MUSLIMS FROM GLOBAL WARMING.  Hmmm.. I find Kerry a little out of touch... OK.. a LOT out of touch with reality.. protecting potential radical Islamist from "global warming"..is basically impossible..if anything, they are CAUSING it by taking Hell where ever they go.

---
Though I'm not a fan of Johnny Isakson, I will vote for him, but he better start listening better..it seems he's listening to the AJC who says he should not run on supporting Trump .. Hey, Johnny.. you ought to be listening to the voters you're trying to appeal to..

L-E headline/story: "Police: Phone records show killing was set up * Three of the charges filed in the June 15 homicide at Double Churches Park were dismissed Wednesday morning in Columbus Recorder’s Court. *  Authorities said Waller was identified as the shooter and the motive may have been armed robbery. *  Judge ****** ordered that the armed robbery charges be dismissed after Clark and Waller’s attorneys stated that there was no evidence that the victim had been forcibly robbed." -- "no evidence... forcibly robbed"? I'll be,, the judge inadvertently has helped our community.. no longer will the DA's office be able to plea bargain down to  "armed robbery" and smugly pat herself on the back as getting a conviction that have these remorseless killers back on the street in a couple of years. Yes, "remorseless killers".. none of the three fears the outcome, and that it why we have such habitual felons on our streets.

L-E headline: "Muscogee Co. acquires updated voting machines valued at $1.2 million" -- Wow.. it really is nice to hear we got a bargain.. but it's also discouraging to think those glorified, single purpose laptops cost $3,000.00 each when new.

---
L-E headline/story: "Body donations on the rise at U.S. medical schools * Many U.S. medical schools are seeing a surge in the number of people leaving their bodies to science, a trend attributed to rising funeral costs " -- Bet the University hospitals in Chicago have their freezers full of all the bodies they'll need to get to the next century.

L-E headline/story: "Baltimore police under fire for ‘clearing corners’ * Fallout from Justice Department report expected to bring changes to enforcement of low-level crimes such as loitering, failure to obey and trespassing. *  As drug dealers vie for territory, so do residents and businesses, posting “No loitering” or “No trespassing” signs in their windows. And some officers continue to believe these tactics can prevent crime before it happens. *  It “really ticked off communities and families and folks who had to watch people being arrested in front of their own homes for loitering and for trespassing and for failure to obey an order,” (Police Commissioner Kevin ) Davis said." -- ""really ticked off families"? Of course, none of these "families" are ticked off at shootings and drug deals are happening where they live.. yeah, right..

L-E headline: "Jenner-starring E! series ‘I Am Cait’ axed after 2 seasons" -- Reported this yesterday, and I imagine between my blog and this syndicated story, more people now know that "I am Cait" has been "axed" than knew it was "on".

From the "there is social justice" department - The Recently promote 2nd Annual Columbus Black Rodeo has been canceled.. guess all the black cowboys didn't want to be involved in a racist event.
