PROPERTY ACQUISITION, 2100, 2102, 2200 and 2210 CUSSETA ROAD AND 2111 NORTH ANDREWS CIRCLE: Approval is requested to acquire the properties located at 2100, 2102, 2200, 2210 Cusseta Road and 2111 N. Andrews Circle in the amount of $365,800 for the continued redevelopment of the Enterprise Zone. The city desires to acquire the property for the purpose of promoting commercial development in the area, by eliminating blighted structures, creating job opportunities and enhancing the quality of life for the community.

Parsing the 5 properties, all total, there are 5 parcels owned by 3 different parties.. Combined, there are about +/- 3.5 acres, AND THE COMBINED assessed value of these properties is approximately $211.000.00.. Not only has the City not being collecting taxes on nearly $156,000.00 which we are paying in excess of assessed value, now the City may get $0.00 dollars in the future as this area is not exactly choice commercial property.

You know,  if the tax assessments on non-exempt properties were kept "reasonably" up-to-date,  the City wouldn't be scrambling to find revenues.

Friday, the MCSD announced it was adding 12 more schools to the "Free" meal program for all students.. that brought the total up to 38... 38 out of 55.. How does the MCSB feel this will help things in the classroom.. what it does is take more parents off the "I need to be more involved in my children's lives and schools" list.
