From the "DIMocrats have dug their hole too deep, but will keep digging" department - Online headline/story: "New poll shows Trump’s approval at 50 percent, putting him ahead of Obama * A recent poll from conservative-leaning Rasmussen Reports shows President Trump’s approval rating has climbed to 50 percent, putting him ahead of where Barack Obama was at the same point in his presidency. * Forty-nine percent expressed disapproval, with 39 percent indicating they felt strongly about that response. " -- Hmmm..."a recent poll from CONSERVATIVE-LEANING Rasmussen Reports"? When was the last time you were presented the results from a "LIBERAL/PROGRESSIVE-LEANING" polling organization? And with only 39% of poll respondents expressing "strong disapproval", I'd say the DIMocrats will be sweating the "bullets" in November that they are trying to confiscate now..

Online story: "Connecticut Democrat Elizabeth Esty announced on Monday that she will not seek re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in November, just hours after she asked the Ethics Committee to expedite its review of her August 2016 dismissal of a staffer." -- Have you noticed the amount of Congresspersons "retiring/resigning" this year... from both parties... We need a law a Trump Executive Order confiscating all funds in incumbents "campaign chests" collected before 2018, and all donations collected in 2018 be returned to the donors. As it is, retiring/resigning politicians know another campaign will be expensive (and probably not successful) and that donations dry-up when candidates flounder, so they get out while they still have accumulated donations. AS it is, theses donations have to be declared "ordinary income" and be taxed, but it's a rule Congresspersons passed for themselves, and we never see whether those funds were actually reported to IRS...

From the "awaiting the first court challenge" department - Online headline: "Parkland students return from spring break to clear backpacks and TSA-style checkpoints" -- Heh heh heh... so students who've basked.. and been manipulated.. in their 1st Amendment Rights of "free speech" come back to finding their right to "free speech" has been muffled... can't wait for a class-action suit by the girls complaining their feminine hygiene products are now on full view in their new backpacks..

There's a poll of historians rating the popularity of all the presidents based on what they accomplished... the top 25 are listed.. I don't know how Gerald Ford was ranked in the Top 25, because most people don't even remember that he WAS a president..
Of note is that Clinton (15) and Obama (12) made the list.. what's interesting is that in their world of social media and mainscream media bias/fawning is that neither made the Top 10.. and that George H.W. Bush made it while "W" did not.. Lincoln and Washington were "1-2" though I'm not sure if in the correct order.. Sadly, Richard Nixon was not.. he ended the Vietnam debacle of Kennedy/Johnson (both made the list), and opened relationship with China

From the "it depends on the shade of "rose" your lenses are tinted" department - Online headline/story: "Gun violence in Chicago drops for 13 straight months * According to new statistics released by Chicago police, there has been a 22 percent reduction in murders and a 25 percent reduction in shootings in the first quarter of 2018 compared to the same period in 2017." -- Hmmm...of course it's not being reported of the soaring deaths of 2016 and 2017 versus 2015.. 2016 saw shooting deaths rise 61% over 2015, and 2017 saw shooting deaths rise 39% over 2015, Therefore, a drop of 22% is still not an improvement over what existed in 2015.. I see two valid reasons for this "drop".. 1 - there were so many killed in 2016 and 2017 that there are less shooters on the streets of Shicago, and 2 - the economy under Trump has created jobs that 2017/18 Shicagoans go to rather than "hang out" on the streets with illegal guns.

Online headline/story: "Air Force veteran sues after being pulled from ceremony mid-speech * A retired Air Force sergeant who was forcibly removed two years ago from a military retirement ceremony as he recited a traditional passage honoring the flag filed a lawsuit Monday, claiming he was ousted for mentioning the word "God." * Senior Master Sgt. Oscar Rodriguez was invited to speak at an April 3, 2016 ceremony by an outgoing fellow master sergeant from the 749th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. Video of the event showed Rodriguez being physically removed by service members at Travis Air Force Base in California as he was delivering a flag-folding speech. * "I was removed from the speech because my script mentioned God. Air force officials did not want me to utter those words," he told Fox News. "There was no direct communication between the Air Force and myself to forbid me from making this speech."" -- Hmm..While I sympathize with Senior Master Sgt. (RET) Oscar Rodriguez, his beef is not with the Air Force.. he ought to be suing Obama for giving illegal orders to his military under threat of dismissal.

L-E story: "Peachtree Mall is ready to fill another spot in its lineup, with an escape room now under construction in the former Picadilly Cafeteria space around the corner from Dillard’s. * The themed rooms include Superhero’s Adventure, Hollywood Premiere, Escape From Alcatraz, Black Ops, Special Agent, Treasure Island, Houdinis Magic Cell, Pharoah’s Tomb, Sherlocks Library and Zombie Apocalypse." -- Good grief.. after all the liberal banter the L-E has spewed about the rise in violence, the L-E has celebrated not only the upcoming attraction for kids to "pretend" kill each other, but also the recent opening of a new Paintball attraction where kids can "pretend" kill each other. The L-E should examine it's "soul" as closely as it examines it's revenue sources.

Do my eyes deceive me, or am I seeing the fewest pages in the Foreclosure Section of the L-E at it's lowest in a decade-plus? Guess Trump's "Make America Great Again" is working for families..

From the "double dose of good news" department - L-E headline: "MCSD dropped from $25 million lawsuit in Montravious Thomas case" -- Good news for the taxpayers... the other good news is for Montravious Thomas and his family... the case progresses with the contractor and appropriate MCSD employees still on "the hook".

As we read about MORE ROUNDABOUTS in our future, we should focus on this. In 2 months we have local elections. One issue all of the sitting Councilors should be on top of is the roundabout purportedly planned at River Road/Bradley Park/ et al. I say "purported" because it's been bandied around since 2012, money has been spent on re-locating utilities, figures have been discussed (moved from $1.5 million of State tax dollars in 2014 to $1.5 million in State tax dollars plus $1.2 million local tax dollars in 2016), yet when Council has been asked to provide a current figure, only one ex-Councilor bothered to answer, and the now mayoral candidate said he had no idea because the bid hadn't been "let out" (and of course he hasn't gotten back with me since early February). You know, I really don't think it's right for tax dollars to be spent when the public doesn't know how much an unconfirmed project will cost... or be finished.

Every Council and State Legislative incumbent should be quizzed about what they know.. otherwise, we will not hear until AFTER the elections this May

I am worn out from seeing the LifeAlert commercial where the old women falls while in the shower. I'm just glad I'm not an EMT.

Online headline/story: "Fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe stops taking online donations for legal defense fund after collecting more than $500G * A GoFundMe account was created for McCabe last week in an effort to gather donations for his legal defense fund after being fired by Attorney General Jeff Sessions last month, just days before his planned retirement." -- You know... these donations are not truly "gifts"... they are requested.. and who knows if donors may feel coerced to do so.. I think the IRS should step in and declare this taxable income for McCabe, and all donors' names be published, and if they gave more than allowed, be audited on their tax returns as well.

From the "guess what" department - Online story: "Eleven of the nation’s 100 fastest-growing counties are in Georgia, the latest Census estimate shows. Seven of them are in Atlanta’s distant suburbs or the mountains, and two are close to Athens – which the AARP has cited as one of the best retirement cities for three consecutive years." -- Hmmm... and guess what... North Georgia Mountains, Metro Atlanta, Athens, Augusta and Savannah are included, but Columbus is not.. this tells you how ineffectual Mayor Tom-LYING-son and the current Council have been in building our economy.. we've lost more businesses than we've gained.. and what will be the effect if Synovus (formerly known as "Columbus Bank & Trust), TSYS, and AFLAC decide Atlanta is the "place for them" As bad as this looks on the local leadership, you cannot ignore than none of the fast growing areas are in Congressman Bishop's District... at all..

Oh.. and I think Chamber Exec/Mayoral Council Post 10 candidate Amy Bryan should be the spokesperson explaining this.. she's funded with many of our tax dollars.
