When I left our subdivision Sunday morning, the US flags adorning homes and our neighborhood entry swelled my heart... with American pride and memories of past family members who gave their all for our country.. but then I got on Veterans Parkway... and found there was no concerted effort by our City leaders to honor the memory of our fallen military on Memorial Day weekend! After church, we rode down Broadway hoping UpTown might have picked up some of the slack.. but were further disappointed.. Following this ride, we got back on Veterans Parkway .... and rode all the way to Columbus Park Crossing before we cutting back West to go home .. WHERE WE KNEW OUR VETERANS WOULD BE REMEMBERED. My bride and I talked about how we went on a trip last year to see the Ark Encounter in KY. En route, we went into Corbin, KY where we visited two locations.. one was the original site of the first Col Sanders Kentucky Fried Chicken, and the other was the Dr Thomas Walker State Historical Site in closeby Barbourville. The Walker site honors my 5th-Great-grand-father who built the first "European" house in Kentucky in 1750, nearly two decades before Daniel Boone went there.. but what we saw in Corbin, KY inspired Carol and I.. Corbin's streets were lined with light-post flags of pictures of Corbin residents who had served in our military.. We came home excited and reported our sightings to Columbus Council who shared the idea with UpTown Columbus as well..we even made a substantial donation pledge to kick things off when a plan was committed to.. that was last June.. we still haven't heard of any plan.. maybe next year...

Resident Biden makes a big to-do about our veterans who protected the country by giving their all defending the US from people overseas who wanted to kill us, yet "aids and abets" illegal aliens from 160 countries who bring in drugs and "armies"(gangs) that have killed moe Americans than foreign despot-led countries have ever killed.

I have some other questions that probably haven't been .. nor will be.. asked.. The Uvalde grandfather of the killer said if he'd known about his grandson having those guns, he'd have called the police because he's a felon and can't have guns in his house. What is the grandfather's felony record?... Where did the grandson get enough money to buy two guns?... Is the grandfather a US citizen? ....

Took another stab at eating at Wendy's and they have back tracked the price on "Dave's Hot & Juicy Double".. It had jumped to $6.99, but Saturday was "only" $6.19.... of course, with 9 % sales taxes ( .56 ), it became a $6.75 burger. Tell you what, at the cost escalation caused by Resident Biden's inflation, now when I think about "fast food", I think more about "fasting" than buying. Bet my doctor will respond with a thumb's up when he reads this.

From the "inquiring minds want to know" department - What has happened to the Tunnel2towers.org foundation.. I remember how it was a response.. a blessing.. to the needs to the brave men and women and their families who were First Responders in NYC during the Muslim 9.11.01 terrorist act of war. Now, it's changed... While I know our military men and women are deserving of the best care our country can provide, I have this doubt about whether or not tunnels2towers.org is the tool to handle this. Have all the needs..and future needs of the NYC 1st Responders and their families been assured? If so, tunnels2towers.org should celebrate a complete victory.. then take a bow.. and retire.. Now we see fervent and emotional... and obviously expensive ads for more and more donations for non-NYC 1st Responders. It's not that the needs of our military families aren't worthy of effort, it's just that how will we know the original needy families are taken care of? Today's tunneltotowers.org reminds me of the March of Dimes organization... When Polio was pretty much brought to it's knees, the March of Dimes organization took a hit in donation revenue, but the MOD organization had grown into such a money collecting machine for it's executives, it just didn't want to stop working... only now it was not working for Polio concerns. I wish Tunnels2towers.org would show us how much money it's spending now on the incessant TV ads, and executives' expenses, salaries, and perks.

You, too, Council..Now that the local 2022 election has passed (with 1 runoff to be determined), how about keeping us up-to-date with the shootings and homicide numbers... you've been walking on egg shells about them during the "campaign season", and your citizens deserve better information.

Other than a couple of run-offs, our local elections are through for the year.. nothing much changed... We still have unsafe streets (with potholes and bullet holes..), poor garbage and debris pickups, and the CWW fighting the EPA about giving us less FECAL MATTER to drink and bathe in.. oh, well, maybe next time... yeah.. right

 

75% of Columbus voters probably didn't know this election has come and gone..... hmmm... Businesses should look more closely at how any "hits" ad media claims they'll get for your money.. obviously, the ad media isn't reaching desirable markets.

Let's face it.. the only "cure" for poverty is education, .. but too many kids in the Columbus, GS public school system cannot read at their grade level...! It's not just embarrassing, it's horrifying... it's a cataclysmic failure of our School system.. no child should advance to the next grade without being up to speed, reading wise, of his/her class level. I bring this up.. again, because my church is trying to do something about it through our Victory Mission site .. my church has contracted with Sylvan Learning Center to provide help to our volunteers how to better teach children how to catch up in reading ... they are not learning through the school system...
