Even if there is a "government shutdown", only the working taxpayers are really affected negatively...federal government employees/welfare recipients will get paid eventually, so if they are off the job for a week or two, they're actually getting a paid vacation. Oh... it's not the "welfare recipients" that pump up inflation ...it's the administrative costs that eat up 78+% of the welfare program expenses.

My bride and I watched Acuna's record setting event last night, and celebrated with the Braves. Then, when the base was removed as a "historic souvenir", I was amazed at how much bigger the bases are since MLB enlarged them...it looked humongous, and Acuna even had some difficulty "handling it". Then it hit me... the new larger bases shorten the base path between 1st & 2nd, and 2nd & 3rd by 4.5 inches... and for a person stealing a base, that's a huge gain over previous years. Hmmm.. maybe base stealing numbers for the next 10 years or so need to have an asterisk beside them... remember they did that to Roger Maris when he broke Babe Ruth's single season home run record because Maris has 8 more games in his schedule.

Muscogee County School District communications director Kimberly Wright emailed the following news release after the Ledger-Enquirer asked officials for an explanation: “A loaded firearm, concealed in a Chromebook case, was unintentionally discharged, resulting in one of our learners being injured” -- Good grief! “unintentionally discharged”? …”one of our learners being injured”? .. even Yoda had better communication skills with words! No wonder our students (now a.k.a. “learners”) have a tough job passing heir reading tests!
