You know... the taxpayers have funded 3 previous MCSD SPLOSTs because each
was to "fix" everything... but now the MCSD wants another one to fix what the
other 3 haven't. Like every other "liberal concept".. it will fail, too, to
"fix" things..because like every other "liberal excuse", the right people
haven't been in charge, but it was full of "good intent".
---
Did you know that the MCSD has 120 empty classrooms? At 25 students per
classroom, that's 3,000 empty desks.. The MCSD should be closing at least 4,
maybe 5 or 6 schools completely! Think of the savings in administrative and
support jobs, think of the savings in food prep and food waste, think of the
improvement of efficiency, think of the reductions in utility costs and bus
fuel. I guess I'm expecting too much if I expect them to think about what's good
for Columbus' taxpayers and children.
---
SPLOST math... you know.. $192,000,000.00 divided by 200,000 people puts a
per person total of $960.00 in taxes over the life of the SPLOST. If you have a
spouse and 3 kids, your share will be $4,800.00 bucks. Now, do you buy more or
less than the average person/family?
---
The basic question all Columbus voters should ask themselves is "Do I feel
confidence in the school board/system?", and vote accordingly. Voting your true
feeling is the best thing you can do for the kids.
---
Wonder if the group focusing on the autistic children have added 2 & 2
(regular math) together yet? Finally, the school system has partially qualified
its intent of putting all those classroom projects in 1 elementary, 1 middle,
and 1 high school location. Seeing as the more desirable schools don't have
empty classrooms, the 400 or so affected families will have to deal with less
desirable locations.
---
Hmmm.. seeing as the location of the new National Infantry Museum is in the
proximity of the current Spencer High School... why wasn't "plastic soil" an
issue?
---
Oh... since Spencer High was built on such "plastic soil", shouldn't the
MCSD tell us LOUDLY who was the architect/builder and issue a moratorium on
those people/companies from working on any new MCSD projects?
---
Oh..again... will some one who works in the Spencer High office go out into
the lobby and tell us who was the architect listed on the "look at me" plaque on
the wall?
---
Don't tell me a man is insane, and can be found not guilty when he takes
another's life using a weapon.. If he was that "insane", he wouldn't have known
the weapon could kill someone.
---
With another birthday on the horizon, I'm reaching the age I remember
seeing "old people" driving big Cadillacs. I started looking but have found that
Cadillac no longer makes "parade float' sized vehicles. Bummer..guess I'll have
to find a 50s/60s model and refurbish it.

Online headline: "New Englanders brace for another major snow storm" -- Oooops, my bad.. thought Obamageddon was making another fund-raising tour.
---
You know.. it would be a lot easier to accept Obamageddon's claims that
illegal aliens add value to our economy if there was proof that they had added
to the economy of Mexico et al before they became criminals in this country. Oh,
BTW, never have figured out how someone earning money in our country benefits
our country when he/she sends it back to his/her native country....
---
Comment about the above item: What's the difference between an illegal
person sending his/her money to another country, and an American Corporation
which keeps it's sales/revenues/profits in another country? It's not a trick
question... the difference is that Democrats favor the former and denounce the
latter.

L-E headline: "GEORGIA GENERAL ASSEMBLY * TRANSPORTATION BILL DRAWS FIRE *
Columbus officials say bill will take $8M a year from government, school
district" -- Wow! Now here's something I can agree with and support our
Mayor/Council/MCSD on without reservations. Sadly, I guess it means that those
three entities have been fully aware of the burdens they have (or trying hard at
the present) laid on the backs of the taxpayers...On the other hand.. Hey
Mayor.. Council.. MCSD.. how does it feel when government unwantedly reaches
into your pockets and takes your money out?
---
Jonathan Gruber LIV's L-E "soundoff": " For once, Myers says something that
makes sense. Yes, student achievement should be our priority. But that doesn’t
mean you ignore badly needed capital projects. That’s like making math your
priority and therefore ignoring English." -- You know.. SPLOSTs are all about
"capital projects". In fact, GA laws restrict SPLOST revenues to be only spent
on "capital projects". Unfortunately, the 3 previous SPLOST "capital projects"
were not maintained properly, so the MCSD wants SPLOST #4 to repair them.
Fortunately, "maintenance" is not considered a "capital project" in public or
private businesses. Vote "No Confidence".
---
L-E story: " ATLANTA— Tax regulators in Georgia are scrutinizing every
filing they receive for signs of fraud." -- Well, it certainly is an improvement
over the past that the IRS is concerned about this BEFORE sending out fraudulent
refunds....
---
L-E story: Council Agenda - "City Attorney's Agenda" Second readings — An
ordinance regulating vehicular traffic in Columbus by enacting time limit
restrictions for parking and ranking, handicap parking and loading zones on the
streets within the Uptown Business District * An ordinance amending Columbus
Code Section 20-16.11 so as to increase fines for parking violations effective
Feb. 25, 2015; repealing conflicting ordinances; and for other purposes." --
Hmmm.. you know.. it certainly is telling when Council will boost parking fines
to pay for other things, yet won't raise fees for using the Natatorium so users
will pay for what they use.

Have you seen the excess tree stump on the right-of-way on 32nd Street on
the south side of Jordan High? Didn't the City expressly buy a new stump-grinder
so it didn't have to hire a tree removal company to remove such?
