Online story: "Former New York Governor George Pataki on Tuesday ended his
long-shot bid for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. * "While tonight
is the end of my journey for the White House as I suspend my campaign for
president, I'm confident we can elect the right person, someone who will bring
us together," said Pataki, who ranked at the bottom of the Republican pack in a
recent Reuters/Ipsos poll" -- "suspend my campaign"? You know.. this is why
Trump is appealing in spite of some of his awkward moments.. "suspend my
campaign" is an establishment "tool" both parties "use" which enables elected
bureaucrats to keep their "campaign accounts" open for additional
donations/shenanigans in spite of no longer being a
candidate.
---
From the above story: "Pataki's withdrawal is likely to have little impact on the Republican race, which still has 12 candidates. Billionaire businessman Donald Trump leads the field ahead of the opening contest on Feb. 1 in Iowa. * Pataki has vowed not to support Trump if he is the Republican nominee for the November 2016 election, saying the real estate magnate is unfit to be president." -- Pataki has vowed not to support Trump if he is the Republican nominee "? That's pretty darn "p-tacky" considering the hoopla about Trump being asked to sign a pledge not to run as a third party candidate, and GOP chairman Reince Priebus needs to step up,, actually, "step down hard" on P-tacky.

Online headline: "Jeb Bush offers tips on how to take the perfect selfie" -- What Jb needs to do is take a "selfie-examination" of his campaign and message. He seems to be running only as a Republican alternative to JILLary rather than as a candidate FOR America's escape from Democratic Party crap.
---
Online headline: "Police lack training for growing, crucial type of crisis" -- Gimmee a break.. how does anyone get training of how to protect the public or themselves from "public stupidity"? That's basically what not obeying a police officer's orders during an armed or otherwise dangerous moment. NERO-bamageddon has crippled our military in combat regions by making them "wait: until "the enemy" takes the first shots before engaging in confrontation, but that doesn't work when a police officer is confronting "hatred" and "stupidity".
---
Online "headLIE": "TSA may soon reject driver's licenses as ID" -- Wrong! The TSA WILL start rejecting drivers' licenses from states that haven't upped their security methods used to make their drivers' licenses Also, the new standards were to be in effect by 2009, but the NERO-bamageddon administration has been moving back the deadline. Guess he doesn't want to seem to be in favor of secure drivers' licenses to be needed to vote in states that require photo-ID.. especially in IL, NY, and CA.

From the "hey parents, do you wonder why you're even sending your child to college" department: This billboard is being paid for out of "profits" from tuition money parents pay.. maybe the U of S. Dakota should spend that money on screening grammar professors.

From the "sign of the times" department - Online story: "Virginia's Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe signed Executive Order 50 in October that says “open carry of firearms shall be prohibited in offices occupied by executive branch agencies, unless held by law enforcement, authorized security, or military personnel authorized to carry firearms in accordance with their duties.” He also called for new regulations to extend that to concealed weapons." -- Hmmm.. seems McAuliffe has little or no regard for Legislative or Judicial agency offices. It's also ironic about the "military exception"... military personnel can't carry their weapons in their own offices or even recruitment stations "in accordance with their duties". Note.. one VA State Senator, Charles W. Carrico Sr, summed up the situation succinctly, "It’s easy for someone who is surrounded by armed state policemen to tell someone else they can’t carry a weapon to protect themselves,". Senator Carrico has drafted an amendment to "defund" the governor's armed protection unit.

L-E "opinion piece" headline: "Project (Rapid Resolution Initiative) geared to help reduce jail population" -- Hmm.. as I see it, the best ways to reduce jail population is an effective death sentence process when called for, and for parents to take control of their children early on.
---
From the above item: "Ideally, information gleaned from the Muscogee County Jail Project will give local criminal justice officials what they need to keep that trend going in the right direction. This isn't about coddling lawbreakers. It's about protecting public safety more efficiently and affordably, and dealing with offenders more effectively." -- "Ideally"? Ideally, people will monitor theor own actions, but since this is about "protecting public safety more efficiently and affordably, and dealing with offenders more effectively". making a "too quick" assessment about it's effectiveness is not in the best interest of the program... or, more importantly, the public's safety.

You know, when 75% of America is disappointed in how our government is being run, then both parties should take heed of the following that's turning to Trump. Even entrenched Congresspersons of either party shouldn't count on voter "party loyalty" in the 2016 elections.

Has anyone heard whether Chris Matthews leg feels a "tinkle" or a "tingle" on his leg when thinking about JILLary?

Hawaii has raised the age to buy tobacco products...even "vapes" to 21. Wow, Hawaii, just make it more attractive to high school teens to want to try them.
---
From the "what you don't hear" department: That 12 year old who was shot/killed in Cleveland...now we know the "kid" weighed 170 pounds and wore size 36 pants. That's why the policeman felt his life was threatened when a gun came out of his waist band.

Rabbi Yeckiel Ekstein...you should be embarrassed...or kicked out! Why are you exploiting purported Russian Holocaust survivors by running ads for donations, when you could be using the money you're spending on ads and your $1 Million dollar plus salary to buy these wonderful people blankets and food.

L-E headline/story: "54 CAR BREAK-INS REPORTED DURING HOLIDAY * Columbus residents would be well advised to clear all valuables out of their vehicles before leaving them unattended, as police here have amassed 54 reports of car break-ins since Christmas Day." -- Hey, L-E,, since this is an oft repeated occurrence.. post-Christmas "shopping", wouldn't you be a better citizen by reminding the public by mentioning this on the front page of the December 26th issue?
---
You know.. a lot of "exempt" facilities for property taxes should be
willing to at least pay fees for certain city services... like police and fire
protection.. places like hospitals, churches, and retirement facilities, even
homes with certain full homestead exemptions could.. no, should be willing to
pay some kind of consistent "fee" for fire and police services.

L-E's "Online comment of the day": “To all toy makers and BB gun makers
STOP making these guns look so REAL! Paint them all red so the Cops know the
difference!” — by Nila Haidet Bynum on “Officer won’t face charges in Tamir Rice
shooting death.” -- Good grief.. how about children respecting police officers's
orders! How about neighborhoods and parents getting control of the actions of
their children and neighbors! How about a unified support for the tough duties
of police od=fficers are thrust into.. Now, Ms Bynum.. if you had a gun and a
170 pound person pointed anything that looked like a gun at you, wouldn't you
take no chances at losing your own life?

L-E "story: "A year and a half after they started an effort to save the
147-year-old site of the city’s first public school for black children, leaders
of the Friends of Historic Claflin gathered Tuesday in the Columbus Consolidated
Government annex and signed the lease that allows their vision to come to
fruition. * “This is a monumental day for us,” said the Rev. Richard Jessie,
the FHC’s executive director of restoration. “... We believe we are getting very
close toward realizing a holistic educational complex in the form of Claflin."
-- "147-year-old site"? "close toward realizing a holistic educational complex
"? Good grief. how often is the L-E going to support .. and repeat these
absolute lies? Somebody must be mixing up the dates of Columbus' Claflin school
and Claflin University in South Carolina...the first school created for black
children in Columbus was near 1st Avenue between 12th & 13th Streets. (see
picture of "Marker" designating the spot, and if there needs to be a "holistic
educational complex", then there are a ton of unused (127 last year, and
probably a few more than that this year) classrooms in the existing MCSD that
could be used and a whole lot cheaper to start.
PS -- Hey, Peter Bowden at the Columbus Convention and Visitors Center,
Are y'all still distributing this brochure.. the one I contested about
incorrect information that was backed up by Billy Winn's investigation some
15ish years ago?
The information about many of the "stops" is false. If this is still being
distributed, y'all are ding a great disservice to Columbus.
Hal Kirven
Pic used in today's L-E story:
This is the real marker for the 1st site for a black school:
BTW,, who knows what :holistic education" is? "Holistic education is a
philosophy of education based on the premise that each person finds identity,
meaning, and purpose in life through connections to the community, to the
natural world, and to humanitarian values such as compassion and peace."
The purpose of holistic education is to prepare students to meet the
challenges of living as well as academics. Holistic education believes it is
important for young people to learn:
About themselves.
About healthy relationships and pro-social behavior.
Social development.
Emotional development.
Resilience.
To see beauty, have awe, experience transcendence, and appreciate some sense of "truths."

Hmmm... These are what the real world considers things that parents should
be teaching and instilling into their children.. AT HOME!
As for this being a curriculum in school,, there'd be a lot of social
diplomas...

Columbus Consolidated Government announced it has not completed the garbage
pickups on Monday and Tuesday, and are encouraging homeowners to leave it on the
streets another day.. yeah, right, homeowners are going to wheel their trash
back into their garages.. this is just another indication of Mayor TomLYINGson's
lack of leadership and how-to of keeping Columbus clean with
once-a-week-pickups.

L-E story: "Patrick Brown is on an improbable mission: Make a burger
Americans love, minus the meat.
Veggie patties have been around for decades, but Brown and others want to make foods without animal products that look, cook and taste like the real thing — and can finally appeal to the masses. * “We are not making a veggie burger. We’re creating meat without using animals,” said Brown, a former Stanford scientist who has been scanning plants in search of compounds that can help recreate meat." -- "We are not making a veggie burger."? BS! What he's not making is a "hamburger"! Why can't liberals just be happy creating something as an alternative for those who want a meatless sandwich.. why is it liberals aren't happy unless the real world sees things their way?
