I realize that "it is legal", simply because politicians like it, but my question is "why". Why can elected officials donate to other political candidates from their own campaign donations? It is obvious a redirection of an intended donation, and covers up what a donors total amount donated to a particular candidate can be. Example: I donate the maximum allowed amount to Official 1 who is running unopposed. I also donate my maximum allowable amount to Candidate A who's running in another race. I also "suggest" to Official 1 to donate the maximum (which I donated to Official 1) to Candidate A in the other race. In effect, I have doubled my donation to Candidate A, and Candidate A looks like he/she has received not only a donation, but an endorsement from Official 1. This is just WRONG.. and it goes on all the time.

With politics heating up locally, I have noticed one improper transaction.. last September, Bart Steed declared he was definitely going to run again for MCSB District 2. So far.. unless there's been a snafu in our ALWAYS most efficient Board of Elections office, there is nothing on record of Steed filing his declaration for candidacy.. Hope he hasn't been accepting donations illegally..

Update: Hmmm...no update on the roundabout from Mayoral candidate Skip Henderson. Wrote him over a week ago to find out what the new completion date and costs are.. Nothing but silence. Though Henderson didn't respond to e-mail issues when he was just a Councilor, I thought he might as a mayoral candidate.. guess not... sad...
---
Speaking of updates.... Will someone at the Columbus L-E update us on your research into Jehmu Greene's 1996 inappropriate behavior charges against Calvin Smyre? We want Calvin's reputation cleared!

Yes! Somebody is listening! After talking about how much of an eyesore so many buildings/businesses are on Veterans Parkway leading into the downtown area, Superior Tire has greatly spruced up its appearance...guess the Trump Tax Cut bill is working.
---
Trump just nailed Pelosi over her "crumbs" comment like he did Hellary over her "deplorables" comment..Trump just exposed the DIMocrats as the actual snobs/hypocrites they are when dealing with the middle class. Pelosi sorta reminds me of Marie Antoinette.. you know, let them eat "cake crumbs".
---
Question: What are the DIMocrats "FOR"? It's obvious DIMocrats are not for TAX CUTS or BORDER SECURITY or INNER CITY SAFETY or a STRONG MILITARY or AMERICAN PATRIOTISM or the MIDDLE CLASS. Guess the only thing left for DIMocrats to be "FOR" is THEMSELVES!

It looks like Shicago maybe benefiting from the jump in homicides of 2016.. a drop, overall, was seen in 2017, and it looks like the Shicago homicides are lower this January (41) compared to 2017's and 2016's (57 each). I basically attribute the drop as being a result of fewer street thugs left standing after 2016 & 2017 to commit them.

From the "Wolff called Bannon once too often" department - Online headline/story: "Michael Wolff wasn’t with Trump on election night. Those who were prove his book wrong * A handful of people were in the kitchen at Trump Tower when Donald Trump found out that he was going to be president of the United States. Among them were Donald Trump’s family, Hope Hicks, Kellyanne Conway, Stephen Miller, Dan Scavino, and Keith Schiller. * Wolff describes Trump’s reaction to becoming president this way, purportedly revealed to him by Steve Bannon: “a befuddled Trump morphing into a disbelieving Trump and then into a horrified Trump.” * Michael Wolff was not there. Steve Bannon was not there." -- Guess, like most of Wolff's "book", he relied on a "LIE-Witness" account..

WTVM 9 headline/story: "Columbus neighborhood goes over 3 weeks with broken water line * Residents on 13th Avenue in Columbus say the main water line on their street has been busted for almost a month. * They say this isn't the first time this has happened. * They say they’ve had their water line repaired multiple times by Columbus Water Works * "When I see this going down the road, it's like a slap in the face because I know my bill is going to go up along with others in the city of Columbus," explains Hill. * A representative with Columbus Water Works says it's a busy time for them, but they will repair the pipes as soon as possible." -- "WILL repair.. as soon as possible"? Good grief.. a break in a water pipe should be moved to the top of the list and repaired immediately! Ms Hill is absolutely right saying a break in her neighborhood affects all our future water bills.

Online headline: "Team USA's Olympic uniforms will have built-in 'heating systems" -- Hmmm.. bet the athletes hope that neither Samsung nor Apple supplied the batteries.. one company's batteries "burst into flames, and the other company might slow down the output to prevent the battery from dying.
---
Online headline: "Chicago anti-gang cops may have robbed drug dealers: report" -- I cannot nail down where to start on this, so just read it and see what goes on in Shicago along with the rampant street shootings.

It's been a while since I've seen Frank Luntz appear back on Fox since the 2016 elections, but he did so yesterday. And his revelation is the same as CBS's poll that showed 75% of viewers supported Trump's SOTU speech, and the usual CBS poll showed a movement from DIMocrats to Independent status for a huge percent of former DIMocrats'
Online headline/story: "Trump critic and GOP pollster Frank Luntz: 'I owe Donald Trump an apology' * Conservative pollster Frank Luntz reconciled his 2015 public row with Donald Trump, saying Tuesday that he now owes the president an apology after his State of the Union address. * “Tonight, I owe Donald Trump an apology. Tonight, I was moved and inspired. Tonight, I have hope and faith in America again. It may go away tomorrow. But tonight, America is great again,” Luntz wrote in a series of tweets."

Online headline/story: "POLITICS * Paper Ballot Push Gets Boost With Support Of Georgia Lt. Governor * The effort to retire Georgia’s aging, electronic voting machines got a boost Wednesday from Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, leader of the state Senate, who said the legislature must act “in haste” to setup a new paper ballot system. * “I think it is important that we have a paper ballot trail that ensures that accuracy is there, and that there are no games that potentially could be played,” Cagle, a Republican candidate for governor, said in an interview with WABE." -- "set up a new paper ballot system...that ensures accuracy is there"? Good grief.. why not improve the electronic system which was put in to eliminate the violations of the paper ballot system?

Online headline/story: "The director of the FBI seems prepared to publicly dispute the Nunes memo once it is released * FBI Director Christopher Wray says he is ready to issue a rebuttal to the controversial memo authored by Rep. Devin Nunes once it is cleared for release by President Donald Trump, according to a former homeland security adviser. * "I think we have to remember the Nunes memo is an advocacy piece. It's not a fact piece. This is Chairman Nunes' summary of what he believes the abuses are. For that reason, it's one-sided," Fran Townsend, a homeland security adviser to former President George W. Bush, told CBS News." -- "one sided"? Of course ! Everyone's "opinion", including Wray's. are one-sided.. for that matter .. so is the truth, and if hiding that because it undermines his own opinion, then Wray et al need to resign.

Online headline: "Punxsutawney Phil sees shadow; predicts six more weeks of winter" -- And it's rumored, Queen Pelosi a.k.a. the DIMocrat Jackass, did not see her reflection in a mirror, and predicts 15 more years of Trump, then Pence, in the White House.
---
L-E headline bias plus story: "GEORGIA ECONOMIC OUTLOOK LUNCHEON * Columbus looking at solid growth in 2018 * Georgia as a whole should have a “surprisingly good” year economically, while the Columbus metro area looks to create about 1,000 jobs in a solid, but less than outstanding 2018. * “The main factors that contributed to growth over the last few years will continue to do so in 2018,” said Ayers, who expects employment in Georgia to rise by 2 percent, which would top the 1.1 percent projected nationwide. Personal incomes in the Peach State should grow by just under 6 percent, he said. * For the Columbus metro area, the 1,000 new jobs generated this year will be just under 1 percent growth" -- Well.. between Trump's leadership, and Mayor Tom-LYING-son's departure, the forlorn sports decree seems appropriate here, "Wait til NEXT year!
---
L-E headline: "PHENIX CITY * Mayor announces city has $14.4M in reserve fund" -- Can we swap Mayor's and School Superintendents with Phenix City.. Phenix City has money in the bank, and the Phenix City School System gets better results on considerably less expenditures per student.
---
Uber-LIV's L-E "soundoff": "When are Republican elected officials going to step up to the benefit of all citizens and hold this racist, fascist bully accountable for his attack on the fabric of our society?" -- Good grief.. the L-E must have held this "soundoff" back from between 2010 and 2016!

It's bad enough that the River Mill left private hands to be purchased by the Hospital Authority of Columbus (cold weather housing station?), but when is the Hospital Authority going to pay it's 2017 property taxes on it?
---
L-E story: "Mark Cantrell, the District 6 representative and vice chairman on the Muscogee County School Board, will seek a third four-year term. * “I think I’ve done a good job the last seven years on the school board,” Cantrell, CEO of Action Buildings, told the Ledger-Enquirer in a phone interview Thursday. “I try to vote the way people feel like I should. I try to do the right thing.” -- Hello! People don't elect a person to vote how he "feels" other people want him to vote. People elect representatives because they claim they want to make things better!

From above story: " James “Bart” Steed in District 2. He owns Kar-Tunes Car Stereo, and Thomas defeated him in the four-way District 2 race during the 2014 election." -- Hmm.. Hmmm -- Why is there not a record of Bart Steed filing his intentions to run? Hope he hasn't accepted any illegal donations so far..

Wow.. Lowe's is paying up to $1,000.00 bonuses to more than 2,600,000 hourly employees because of the Trump Tax Cut.. That's upwards of $2,600,000,000.00 going into consumer pockets rather than the government's.

From the "one step closer to 1984" department - L-E headline: "Amazon wins patents for wristband that can track employees" -- and eventually, just bar scanners.
---
L-E headline: "Dogs could be declared dangerous, euthanized under proposed law" -- Good grief.. why can't we get a law like this for criminals that are more animal like than human.. like the ones who brutally bludgeoned a grandmother, her teen son, and 10 year old granddaughter to death 2 years ago?
---
L-E headline/story: "How a dog was ‘approved’ for $360 per week in jobless benefits * It’s not always easy to find work. * Just ask Ryder – he was apparently laid off from his job at a restaurant chain in Michigan. So the state approved him for $360 per week in unemployment benefits. * Just one problem: He’s a German shepherd. * The letter from Michigan UIA stated that Michael Ryder had worked for Kruse and Muer, an upscale seafood restaurant chain in Michigan. He was approved for 20 weeks of unemployment benefits at $360 per week, it stated. * “So my dog Ryder gets approved for unemployment benefits of 360 per week,” Ryder’s owner, Michael Haddock, wrote on Facebook, according to ABC affiliate WZZM. * Haddock, an attorney in Saugatuck, Michigan, told WZZM that he received a letter last weekend from the State of Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency addressed to his dog – sort of. * It was sent to “Michael Ryder.”" -- Hmmm.. my bet is the dog.. is a registered DIMocrat as well.. at least his owner is, and probably a :yellow dog DIMocrat" Hmm.. hope there is an investigation as to who SIGNED the dogs unemployment claim..

It appears that Hollywood is looking forward to Spring releases of its movies.. Could it simply be that the Hollywooders who trash Trump suddenly realize their target audience will have more money in their pockets to spend at theaters.. Now all Hollywood has to do is MAKE movies the public actually wants to see.
