From the "insanity...thy name is Pelosi" department - Online headline/story: "Trump to roll out plan to overhaul US infrastructure * House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said Trump’s plan "shifts the burden onto cities and states." -- "shifts the burden onto cities and states"? Good grief.. the TAX burden has ALWAYS been on the states and cities.. well, the citizens of such... GOVERNMENT has no money other than what it confiscates (or prints from thin air). No wonder DIMocrats are so generous with other people's money... they do not understand this.

Online story: "In a bombshell report published Friday, The New York Times found that American spies paid thousands of dollars to a Russian with shady connections in an effort to recover stolen cyberweapons. But instead of receiving the cyberweapons in return, they were handed dubious "kompromat," or compromising material, on President Donald Trump. * The Shadow Brokers, a hacking group said to be allied with the Kremlin, claimed to have first stolen the tools from the National Security Agency in August 2016. * The Russian offering to sell the weapons back to the US first got in touch with American officials in early 2017 as they were trying to make a deal with a separate hacker to re-acquire the tools, according to the Times. When that deal fell through, the Russian offered to step in and manage the transaction. He had ties to Russian intelligence and acted as an intermediary between US officials and senior officials at the FSB, Russia's primary counterintelligence agency and the successor to the KGB." --"August 2016"? Hmmm.. sounds like Mueller is investigating the WRONG administration.

HuffPOOPOO story: " Lawrence Rosen, is an award-winning legal anthropologist who has taught at Princeton University for 40 years. He received emeritus status last year. * Rosen’s course, titled “Cultural Freedoms: Hate Speech, Blasphemy and Pornography,” explores the legal and cultural limits of free speech * Destiny Salter, a 19-year-old Princeton student who identifies as black, told HuffPost that about 10 minutes into the class, Rosen gave this example: “Which is more provocative: A white man walks up to a black man and punches him in the nose, or a white man walks up to a black man and calls him a n****r?”″ * He repeated the example once more, leaving students “shocked and visibly uncomfortable,” Salter said. * A few minutes later, students began to point out their discomfort with a white professor using the word in its entirety. * When one student asked if Rosen planned to keep repeating the word in future classes, the professor reportedly responded that he would if he deemed it necessary for the discussion. * Rosen then said, “I purposely did that, because I wanted everyone to feel the power of that word,” Salter told HuffPost." -- Good grief.. Let's face it .. when a word is racist when ONLY a WHITE person says it, and not when a black person does, then the racist is the one who hears it that way. And I guess the next word to be elevated to one-sided racism will be "snowflake"..

Georgia is ranked the 21st worst state for violent crimes..
21. Georgia
> Violent crimes per 100,000: 398
> Total 2016 murders: 681 (5th most)
> Imprisonment rate: 666 adults per 100,000 (9th highest)
> Poverty rate: 16.0% (10th highest)
> Most dangerous metro area: Albany
Of interest is that Albany is rated the most dangerous metro area in the state.. Of course, Albany is in Congressman Bishops realm as is part of Columbus..and both these cities also have DIMocratic Party affiliated mayors. One other "fact" is that Shicago had 127 more homicides in 2016 than the WHOLE state of Georgia did that year.

Another "fact".. more pathetic than interesting, is that the rest of Illinois had only 246 homicides when you take out the 808 recorded in Shicago

Online story: "A major international charity covered up its employees’ sex parties including a “full-on Caligula orgy” with Haitian prostitutes who had just survived the island’s devastating earthquake. * Workers including Roland van Hauwermeiren, the country director in Haiti for Britain-based Oxfam until 2011, were allowed to resign without any discipline after their sex parties were discovered, the Times of London reported Friday. * The native Belgian admitted to hiring prostitutes and having the parties at the villa he rented with Oxfam money, and the Times reported that some of them may have been underage. * One source told the newspaper that there was footage of a “full-on Caligula orgy” with women wearing Oxfam t-shirts." -- Guess it was the only way to get Bill Clinton there with a Foundation checkbook.
---
From the "poll truth and nothing but the poll truth" department - Online headline/story: "Former Obama campaign manager says 'all public pollsters should be shot' * During an appearance Friday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Messina spoke about the irrelevance of public polls so early in an election year, Mediaite reported. * Then he underscored the point to host Joe Scarborough. * "Joe, you know how I feel about public polls," he said. "I think all public pollsters should be shot.” * A recent column by Fox News contributor Jen Kerns, however, may have revealed the source of Messina's frustration. * According to Kerns, new polling shows that Democrats have lost a recent 15-point lead over Republicans, dropping to only a 2-point lead heading toward the 2018 midterm" -- Hmmm.. can we just say.. TAX CUT BILL.. and that no DIMocrat thought the public deserved one?
---
I saw a local restaurant's menu item dessert.. "Goat Cheesecake".. those "chocolate chips" better be chocolate chips!
---
L-E headline/story: "Your child could be assigned to a different Muscogee school under rezoning proposal * Central Region chief James Wilson presented the idea, which superintendent David Lewis calls “spot rezoning,” during the school board’s recent retreat, but the district hasn’t released any documents to clearly explain this proposal, leaving much still unknown. * The rezoning has three main goals, according to the information presented at the retreat: make room for growth in north Columbus; more efficiently use space in south Columbus; and accommodate the impact of the August opening of the new Spencer High School, which is being constructed on Fort Benning Road. * In addition, the school district hasn’t responded to the Ledger-Enquirer’s request for the number of students or the names of the schools that would be affected by the rezoning." -- First.. I'm glad to see the L-E is actually calling a Lewis decision to question... Secondly, this disturbs me.. "The rezoning has three main goals, according to the information presented at the retreat: make room for growth in north Columbus; more efficiently use space in south Columbus; and accommodate the impact of the August opening of the new Spencer High School"?... greatly.. I know that when the 2015 SPLOST was being pushed with a new Spencer, the MCSD had 127 unused classrooms, and no new school was needed. I can see nothing about "spot zoning" that will do anything but raise costs without raising results.
---
L-E headline/story: "On drug costs, modest steps follow Trump's big promises * President Donald Trump makes big promises to reduce prescription drug costs, but his administration is gravitating to relatively modest steps such as letting Medicare patients share in manufacturer rebates." -- Hmmm.. less than a month has passed since President Trumps SOTU, and mainscream media has deemed it a broken promise.. He, mainscream media, can you name ANY Obama healthcare promise y-that was actually getting something done within 30 days?
---
Uber-LIV's L-E "soundoff": "I don’t patronize restaurants that air Fox News. There are hundreds just like me in town. Are you mixing up your menu with politics? So silly." -- "100s just like" the writer.. well, there are 1000s that disagree with him/her..Fortunately, the restaurants that don't show FOX News only have to be concerned about whether their food is good.. healthy Americans don't lose their digestive abilities over liberal news... we just enjoy our food.
---
L-E story: "Under pressure from President Donald Trump, Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee plan to redact a memo defending the FBI’s surveillance of a former Trump campaign aide to resolve Trump’s complaint that the document disclosed highly sensitive information, a Democrat on the committee said Saturday." -- Heh heh heh.. DIMocrats are seeing the difference in having to publish the truth when it tries to publish with government fact approval versus normally just "leaking it" to mainscream media.
---
L-E story: "The City of Columbus has also begun the study of building a passenger line along I-85 to Atlanta with a stop for commuters in Newnan. The plan would be to use existing freeway right-of-way in the median to get the train up to Newnan. Acquisition of right-of-way from Newnan to Atlanta becomes exponentially more expensive, however." -- No.. what Mayor Tom-LYING-son has done is start spending money with her friends on a project that is pretty much marked for failure 10/12 years before it would "happen"
---
L-E commentary: "Not surprisingly, places designed to move people through are not seen as great places for people to go to — or to invest in. Which helps explain why most of the 13th street businesses between 10th and 13th Avenues are vacant or underutilized. That’s more than 44,000 square feet of underperforming commercial space and a lot of lost jobs and tax revenue." -- You know.. the effect of inefficient.. no .. blatant lack of business knowledge of the Mayor, is more responsible for the loss of businesses on a 3 block area of 13th Street. The traffic numbers would benefit the right kind of businesses that go after destination customers rather than "drop in" customers. A great example is the business in off the intersection created by Buena Vista/Peachtree/13th Ave and Wynnton Roads.. numerous "drop in" businesses failed there, but White's Automotive services has thrived there for decades.. Mr White just offers services that customers make appointments to see him.. businesses like that will work in the 3 blocks of 13th Street under discussion.

On Council Agenda: "Approval is requested to accept eight dugout covers from Pioneer Little League for Britt David Park. The approximate cost for all covers is $28,500.
* The dugout covers are being donated for use at Britt David Park by all little league participants. The approximate cost for all covers is $28,500. Parks and Recreation is requesting to receive these dug out covers for use at Britt David Park. This will be at no cost to the city as it is a private donation." -- While I'm sure donations are appreciated, is there more than public generosity involved here? Say, dugout covers with ADVERTISING on them? If so, then all businesses should be able to bid on such placement, and the City's taxpayers should get the benefit.
---
Council Agenda: "CHEVROLET IMPALA SEDANS — GEORGIA STATEWIDE CONTRACT: It is requested that council authorize the purchase of three Chevrolet Impala Sedans from Hardy Chevrolet (Dallas, Ga.), via Georgia State contract at a cost of $21,696.00 per unit, for a total amount of $65,088." -- Whoa! An Agenda item for Police Pursuit Vehicles tells us where the vehicles are to go, but we should also know where these three Impalas are going, and why a smaller, more fuel efficient vehicle wasn't configured.
---
Can someone give us why a reasonable answer to why the CPD and Marshal's offices are purchasing Dodge Pursuit vehicles from the same out-of-town dealer, and the vehicles are priced lower for the Marshal's office ($23,630.75 per unit), and the CPD's cost is $24,054.75 per unit?
---
Our roads are in horrible shape, yet rather than address those issues, the City, in this agenda list alone, want to spend $2,316,273.97 on new vehicles and accessories which will add to the worsening road conditions. And when you parse this purchase, how many are needed because the road issues have taken its toll on the old vehicles?
---
Deja-PEW all over again...CNN is fawning over, Kim Jong Oooops' sister .. kinda like CNN did over Saddam Hussein.
---
When I finally got a response from Councilor/Mayor wannabe Skip Henderson concerning the cost of the River Road roundabout, he informed me that it hasn't even been put out for bids so he doesn't know if it's going to be over/under budget. Wait a minute..for 4 years we've been told this was a GA DOT project..and the state was paying $1,500,000.00 and Columbus would have to fork out the extra which was $1,200,000.00 2 years ago.. Since the project was originally scheduled to be built in 2014 and the state was going to pick up the total costs of the $1,500,000.00, and when plans changed, the state was sticking to its promise of $1,500,000.00 so Columbus taxpayers were stuck with coughing up the extra $1,200,000.00, and I'm sure any additional costs added for the now 4 year delay will be stuck to us as well. Since we have just been reminded that the state has responsibility of maintaining 2nd Avenue and all its ills, I think we would be better off it the state spends their $1,500,000.00 fixing 2nd Ave, and Columbus spend its $1,200,000.00 on getting more police officers hired and on the street. I would also think that a Council member/Mayoral candidate would know all the projected costs of a project like this.. at least I think HE SHOULD!

From the "something doesn't compute" department - Online headline: "Adam Rippon had a funny answer about the Olympic experience after a 'spellbinding' performance that had the figure skating world buzzing" -- "spellbinding"? but he came in 3rd...
---
From the "misplaced anger" department: Online story: "The Boston Police Department came under fire Sunday for tweeting a Black History Month Tribute about a white basketball coach. * The original post on the department's official Twitter account Saturday night was in honor of former Boston Celtics coach Red Auerbach. The department said in the tweet it was paying tribute to Auerbach for being the first NBA coach to draft a African-American player, play an all African-American starting lineup and hire the league's first African-American head coach. * “In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth we pay tribute to the @celtics legend #RedAuerbach for being the 1st @NBA coach to draft a black player in 1950, field an all African-American staring five in 1964, hire the league’s 1st African-American head coach (Bill Russell) in 1966, the tweet read, according to the Boston Globe." -- Good grief! Red Auerbach put his head on the chopping block to do the right thing and current black "leadership" eviscerates him today? I remember those days and celebrated.. I also remember "The Game of Change" when Mississippi State's Babe McCarthy "snuck" his team out of the state to participate in a NCAA Tournament game against Cincinnati despite there being a state law against the colleges from playing teams with black players. Let's face it, "WE'VE COME A LONG WAY, BABY!" This doesn't mean we don't more to travel, but this has not been a solo black endeavor.. To Red Auerbach.. thank you.

Following a Sunday School discussion yesterday, I have two things to ask those who now consider God dead, or are completely agnostic. If someone feels "God is dead", I compliment them for at least admitting that God lived, but then ask them when they gave up in heir faith and how can we help them regain it, and if someone declares themselves to be agnostic, I ask them to explain how they feel the universe just "happened".
---
L-E "headLIE": "US CONGRESS * Trump support vital on immigration issue" -- Support"?.. NO Trump's leadership and convictions are vital.
---
Another "deja vu" department - L-E headline/story: "LEDGER INQUIRER * Concrete railroad crossings replaced because they had started to wobble * A resident noticed the change at a crossing in his neighborhood and asked, “Why are they going to switch over to asphalt when they had smooth transitioning concrete at the crossings?” * Heavy truck traffic left some concrete slabs broken and cracked on Fortson Road. The broken slabs could not be reused. “Because of the heavy truck traffic, the thinking was that the asphalt might hold up better and could be more easily repaired if damage did occur,” Glass said." -- DOH! I remember when the RR sold the City a bill of goods that by paying for Concrete improvements at track/road junctions, there'd be less problems.. guess this might have happened BEFORE Glass was born.

L-E headline/story: "American Revolution battlefield expands in ‘hornet’s nest' * A battlefield in the woods of northeast Georgia is being reclaimed so visitors can see the shallow graves of fallen soldiers and learn how the South played a key role in defeating the British and helping to win the American Revolution. * British commanders had embarked on a “southern strategy” with hopes of convincing rural southerners in Georgia, the Carolinas and Virginia to join them, and attack Washington from the south * But a bloody defeat of the British and their loyalists during a 4-hour battle at Kettle Creek showed that it wasn’t working. The colonists in Georgia’s back country were not joining the British side as they’d expected, giving rise to a nickname for the region, Chewning said. * “It became known as the hornet’s nest,” he said." -- It's hard to conceive that a story like this is offered as "sorta unique" when Francis Marion led Southerners in a guerrilla type warfare against the British in the swamps.. it earned Marion the nickname of the "Swamp Fox". His men lay in wait waiting for the extremely regimented British forces to march in closed ranks, and then "popped" up, fired shots into the British, then disappeared back into the swamps and set another ambush..
---
From the "remember when this was Front Page news" department - L-E headline/story: "Man shot near Lucky Food Mart on Floyd Road dies * One of two men shot Friday night near the Lucky Food Mart on Floyd Road has died." -- This is buried in the LaLaLand of A4 (the left/verso page).. intentionally because it's in an easy to overlook section.. Now.. is this the 5th or 6th shooting homicide of 2018?
---
From the "Rip Van Winkle" department - L-E story: "Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., said a “ good bill ... that has the support of 65, 70 members of the Senate” could win over President Donald Trump and the House of Representatives." -- Good grief.. has the man just woken up but not recognized that the American patriots have spoken, and 16 to 21 Republicans will not support a bill that 49 liberals support en toto.. If they would, it would be because Hellary won the presidency, not Trump.
