No wonder our existing gun laws "don't work".. in fact, they'll never work if juries do not convict criminals illegally in possession of weapons and use them in other crimes...

Where are the police when we need them..Saturday morning. I was behind a loaded dump truck (what.. a minimum of 20 tons, probably more like 30 or 40 tons) traveling south on Veterans Parkway. The traffic light at 19th Street changed to yellow 200 yards in front of us. I took my foot off the accelerator to prepare to stop..the dump truck pulled ahead..the light turned "RED" about 50 yards in front of us.. I stopped.. the dump truck didn't even slow down and went full speed through the light and intersection. There was no visible markings or tags on the truck, and I couldn't get close enough to check out any door marking before I had to turn off to head to my destination. These trucks are moving battering rams, and need to be held accountable. How about our legislators getting these trucks properly marked.. Either that, or let Ken Nugent et al put monitoring cameras at intersections to capture such actions and sue truck owners who endanger other road traffic.

From the "more stupid than the roundabout at River Road" department - L-E headline story: "New road design nearly blocks entire intersection at Macon and Jenkins Road * Some Ridgewood Estates residents returned home Thursday afternoon and found a 4-inch concrete median erected in their intersection at Macon and Jenkins roads. * A city official said other neighborhoods may see an R-cut if the device reduces crashes at intersections and makes the roads safer. The one at Macon and Jenkins is the first in Muscogee County aimed at making this part of the corridor safer. * Farhad AliFarhani, assistant director of engineering/traffic engineering manager for the Columbus Consolidated Government, said Macon Road also known as State Route 22 Spur, is managed by the Georgia Department of Transportation, but the city was notified about the road design construction." -- What does the GA-DOT really stand for...Grievous Avengement - Designs of Trauma? Now.. for a farm vehicle.. horse trailer et all ,, to cross the road, the driver will have to take a right turn into 70 MPH traffic, then move across two lanes to get to a u-turn access, then repeat with a slow left turn into 70 MPH traffic while moving over into the right lane to make a right turn.. all at speeds slow enough to get a ticket and to be more of an endangerment than whatever the GA-DOT determined they "was fixin".
Now.. when is the one going to be built at Fulton/Macon Road.. yeah.. right.. guess the GA- DOT doesn't want to ruffle polo players feathers...

L-E headline: "Georgia county working to hire Spanish-speaking poll workers" -- hmmmm -- maybe a good idea,,, as long as the w[first question is "¿Puedo ver tu prueba de ciudadanÃa?" ... "May I see your proof of citizenship?"

You know, allowing same day registration and voting is about as dumb as walking into a bar during Happy Hour to recruit jurors for a trial about to begin...
