Earlier this week, I mentioned Nestle had picked up Starbuck's Coffee distributions... you remember Starbuck's the founder/chief shareholder saying he wished Trump voters would not buy his coffee... well, Nestle just bought that, too.. It'll be personally painful because Nestle makes a number of products that our household regularly "depends" on.. we will be finding replacements for Nestle/Deer Park/Poland Springs water... Butterfinger candy, Coffeemate, DiGiorno pizzas, Haagen-Dazs, and Toll House cookies. Oh, and it'll hit our cat even harder... he's been eating Purina ONE for all 17 of his years, and Tidy Cat has been out "go-to" litter. Anyway, we must do what we must do.. Bye-bye, Nestle.. the only product of Nestle I will buy is my grandson's "Gerber" formula mix..but only because it's the choice of his parents...

Finally got that call/chat in with Mark Cantrell...I had gotten some prices on my own about steel buildings just yesterday, and though Mark didn't have all the information I think all the MCSB members should have concerning the costs of projects they are 'approving'. he did give me some useful info into digging up info for myself.. Talked with Allied Steel Buildings earlier and found that if "we" committed today (Friday), we could get the steel components for a 60'x40'x20' steel building delivered to my property in September for $29,000.00...or if I delayed a bit, the company wouldn't guarantee that price and it might cost $40K..Mark listened and said that probably was not with "red iron" steel which better withstands the possibility of a fire. I have an estimate request in now for a building using "red iron" I-beams as Mark suggested. We had a good discussion on a number of subjects and I do heartily support him for his re-election to Post 6. Oh... the building supplies I mention first come with a 25-year warranty!

You know...Trump is beginning to remind the electorate that he is their new ROCKY! Mainscream media, the DIMocrats, and Mueller & Rowenstein are throwing every punch they can at him, and Trump takes it while building up a giant November knockout punch for the DIMocrats.

Received a Bart Steed mailer yesterday.. he left out that he is on the MCSD "dole" with an open ended $165,000.00 contract. He also says he is on the SPLOST committee... if he's talking about the 2015SPLOST committee I'm on, I haven't seen him at one, and I haven't missed any, and I don't see an e-mail address associated with him on my committee e-mails . I still wonder how anybody with a MCSD contract can run to serve on the MCSB. He's already beholden to the Administration and current MCSB for his job.

Since we're getting closer to election date (and early voting is in effect), I revisited Mike Edmondson's Campaign Disclosure page at the Elections Department..I thought I remembered he filed a document that he wasn't going to accept donations or make expenditures exceeding $2,500.00 but I've seen a whole bunch of major signage and billboards about town, and he's suppose to an additional report if he does.. I do not see one...

L-E headline/story: "Stepdad finds sex offender with 14-year-old girl — and tries to fight him, Columbus police say * Checking McCoy’s background, investigators discovered he was a sex offender from Opelika, Ala., having just been released from prison Feb. 8. He had served time since 2011 for raping an 11-year-old, Hogan said. * She said McCoy afterward had moved in with a relative in Alabama, but he got kicked out and came to Columbus to live with a sister, in a home with four juveniles in it. He had not informed authorities of his new address, Hogan said." -- A L-E Commenter delved into this (_@_)'s past crime and found he had gotten out early for "good time".Let's pray that 1- we don't experience another "jury fail" when this reaches court, and 2 - legislators will find resolve to make all sentences for sex offenders life without parole . Let's also pray for judicial review about giving any SEX OFFENDER an early release for "good time".

HuffPOOPOO headline: "John McCain's wife rebukes White House official who mocked him as 'dying anyway' -- You know.. if "the Missus" really wanted to make the end days "good", she'd have already had him retired to home.. Instead, she's allowed him to "mock himself" with statements and votes that negate his service to America.

Online story: "Homeland Security secretary Kirstjen Nielsen reportedly drafted a resignation letter after President Donald Trump berated her in front of cabinet officials, but stopped short of submitting it, according to a New York Times report published on Thursday. * Trump reportedly railed against Nielsen on Wednesday, saying that she failed to adequately secure the US border, former officials with knowledge of the incident said to The Times. * Following the release of the report, Nielsen said in a statement that Trump "is rightly frustrated," according CBS News correspondent Mark Knoller." -- "reportedly drafted a resignation letter"? Good grief... and who would be the ONLY person to KNOW she had "drafted" a letter of resignation.... she herself! The fact SHE made such knowledge available is reasons for firing her NOW!

Online story: " A 104-year-old Australian scientist killed himself in Switzerland on Thursday by lethal injection in an assisted suicide he hoped would trigger more lenient euthanasia laws in his home country. * British-born David Goodall, who was not terminally ill, personally triggered a lethal dose of a barbiturate and died at 1030 GMT in a clinic near Basel, the assisted suicide group Exit International said." -- "hoped would trigger more lenient euthanasia laws"? Well, it's certain now, that he won't be around to witness such.. You know, this has to be a welcomed opportunity for abortion clinics.. now they can project that they aren't baby-killers, they are simply assisting in suicides.

I can appreciate Fox News' desire to present "fair and balanced" news, but when Fox presents good conservative issues, Fox runs to DIMocrat spinmeisters/politicians who only negate the opportunities of meaningful discussion rather than ones who will at least discuss the issues with some alternatives that are plausible.

Online story: "Gwinnett’s three congressmen were split along party lines as to whether President Donald Trump made the right decision to withdraw the U.S. from the multinational Iran nuclear deal." -- Good grief..It's not like Trump overruled Obama legislation when Trump opted out of the Kerry/Obama/Iran nuclear deal...it was never enacted/approved by Congress. nor even signed by Iran...and yet DIMocrats are literally defending nothing!

One thing for sure.. if Websters is looking for an example of stupidity to mention in an update of it's dictionaries, GA District 4 Representative Hank Johnson, DIMocrat, should be the leading contender. Once again he does not disappoint proving his concern over Guam tipping over was not a one-time "misspeak".. In today's e-mail of his work, Johnson says, "TRUMP PULLS OUT OF IRAN NUCLEAR DEAL: I issued the following statement after President Trump announced he would pull the United States out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action also called the Iran Nuclear Agreement: The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action is working – with historic restrictions and invasive inspections preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, and making the American people and our allies safer. Hey, Hank.. what about the FACTS that neither you or Congress ever voted to approve it it, and Iran never SIGNED it?

Rep. Johnson’s statement on Trump Pulling Out of the Iran Nuclear Deal
May 9, 2018 Press Release:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) released the following statement after President Donald Trump announced he will restore U.S. economic sanctions on Tehran, a move that effectively pulls the U.S. out of the Iran nuclear deal (JCPA), a 2015 agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, France, China, Germany and the European Union that halted Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions:
“The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action is working – with historic restrictions and invasive inspections preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, and making the American people and our allies safer,” said Rep. Johnson. “Unilaterally walking away from this agreement will leave America isolated instead of Iran, weaken our international credibility during a critical moment with North Korea and recklessly put the catastrophic threat of a nuclear-armed Iran back on the table. The Trump Administration’s reckless, rash decisions are no substitute for real global leadership. Democrats will continue to show strong, smart leadership to keep our country safe.”

NBC's Andrea Mitchell...what a jerk..she tried to infer that VP Mike Pence doesn't understand how evil Kim Jong Oooops is, yet Mitchell fawned over for Fidel Castro as if he was God.

From the "best info award" department - an expert on interrogation on Fox made the best comment about the Congressional Committee vetting the new CIA nominee.."This committee must remember we're talking about the CIA, not the PTA."

From the "facts? We don't need no facts." department - Online headline/story: "New York Times slams AWOL Pompeo, then learns he was rescuing Americans *
As the New York Times was bashing Mike Pompeo for being missing in action while President Trump tore up the Iran nuclear deal, it turned out the secretary of state was busy rescuing three Americans who have been held captive in North Korea. * In an apparent jab at the administration, The Times’ headline said, “At a Key Moment, Trump’s Top Diplomat Is Again Thousands of Miles Away.” -- You know.. it's time for the Patent/Copywrite Office to revoke the NYT's use of it's motto first used in 1896, ""All the News That's Fit to Print."

One more point about Zeph Baker's qualifying "residence".. It's almost funny enough to cry about.. the Tax Assessed Value is $100,110.00 while Zeph lists it on his financial disclosure as worth over $200,000.00... Hey, he's one of 15 on the Board of Equalization, why hasn't he voluntarily changed the taxable value?

Oh... and how about filing some financial reports, Zeph Baker... we need some of the transparency you keep talking about..

Was watching PGA Live coverage of the TPC yesterday, and the PGA is going to have to either muzzle or penalize or ban Patrick Reed for his lack of language control. I hit worse shots and don't utter the gutter and lordly condemnation we were exposed to by the PGA Live broadcast.

Updates on local candidates I now support..

Council 1 - Pop Barnes.. don't always agree, but Pop is the hardest working Councilor in the field, and I cannot fault hard work.

Council 3 - Bruce Huff - good man with concerns on future of Columbus

Council 5 - Charmaine Crabb - running unopposed .. her hard work in the L}|Keep the Freeze Committee has endeared her to the District..

Council 7 - Sia Etemadi.. haven't met him, but what I read and research about him shows he is dedicated to the future of Columbus... and I like this in a candidate.

Council 9 - leaning toward Judy Thomas, but I do want more independence and consistency from her...

Council 10 - Tollie Strode, Jr.. a man meant to be in Columbus' future.. did a yeoman's job guiding the successful "Keep the Freeze" movement, and probably the best informed person running for a local political office.

MCSB 2 - Sheryl McCraine.. just what we need

MCSB 4 - Toyia Tucker.. we need a representative who's full focus is on OUR public school system's needs.

MCSB 6 - Mark Cantrell - believe he's about to come into his own with the upcoming MCSB needs.

MCSB 8 - Frank Myers.. he's why we have more public knowledge of what has gone on, and we need his dedication to the taxpayers and students.

MCSB - Tony McCool.. I cannot support a MCSB member who's time and energy is spent juggling her child's private school needs with what the MCSD students' need are.

And get the Republican primary ballot.. it includes all the non-partisan races as well, and it's the only way Columbus voters can support Josh McKoon for GA's next Secretary of State nomination.

L-E story: "The Harris County Board of Education went into closed session Thursday night — officially for an undisclosed reason, but the superintendent’s lawyer has said the purpose is to discuss firing the school district’s leader. * The Ledger-Enquirer reported Wednesday that superintendent Jimmy Martin’s lawyer, Ted Theus, said board chairman Shane Lipp warned the superintendent, if he didn’t resign, board members would vote to fire him after a closed session during Thursday night’s meeting." -- What I want to know, is why this story was not Thursday's Front page, above the fold lead-off..the story was "online" before 5:00 PM Wednesday...

From the "this is getting tired" department - L-E headline/story: "Police called on napping black Yale student * L****** S*******’s exasperated message to the campus police officers – and to the Yale graduate student who’d summoned them to her dorm – was simple and consistent: She didn’t have to do anything to prove that she was justified in being there, just because she happened to be black. * “I deserve to be here. I pay tuition like everybody else,” an annoyed S8888888 told responding officers after they repeatedly asked her to hand over identification. “I’m not going to justify my existence here.” -- "told responding officers after they repeatedly asked her to hand over identification"? Good grief... this whole thing would have died with a simple presentation of Student ID... every student would have been asked to provide such.. this isn't singling out.. it's an obvious attempt to draw attention... unnecessary attention to oneself.. but this mentality is rampant when innocent as well as the non-innocent refuse to simply co-operate with an authority figure simply doing his/her job.. I remember getting "called out by police personnel during the Stocking Strangler days in Columbus.. and I was walking in my parents' neighborhood while staying at their home as extra protection.. I wasn't upset at the police doing their jobs.. in fact, I was glad to see them taking no chance of not checking out anyone walking through an affected neighborhood.
