While I only caught two snippets (during commercials while we watched Bobby Flay) of the Democratic Debacle 2, I did catch a couple of key moments.. I found it interesting that any of the 2020 wannabes would associate themselves with late President John F. Kennedy. Kennedy would not have been allowed on stage with the current Democratic Party agenda.

I did hear the question about what one item each candidate would focus on in his/her first term of office. Setting up the question, it was mentioned that Obama/Biden got only 1 "legacy" item through.. What the questioner should have asked Biden bin Lying specifically is why... since there were majority Democrats in the House. Senate, and Obama was in the Oval Office, is why reforms in immigration, education, and National Security were not made?

Now what we did notice during the Debacle was how tired Biden bin Lying looked.. and the race has barely left the starting gate.. Hmmm.. I can think of a great Trump ad for a year from now.. the Starting Gate at the Kentucky Derby full of donkeys, and as the candidates begin to fall off along the way, the camera at the finish line shows that none of them actually finish the race.

The last time we had any controversy over Congressional District Gerrymandering was when 3 "super black majority" districts were penciled in.. basically "reservations".. (and we know how those worked out for Native Americans).. Fortunately, the courts stepped in and quashed the idea..Now, if we follow the "fairness doctrine" as advocated/defined by Stacey Abrams, all of our US Congressional Districts should be drawn up to reflect the racial demographics of GA as a whole..59% white, 31% black, and 10% other. Either that or try to draw district lines based on all the people who live closest to a point within an area..I like option 2.. In no case would a man....even Donald Trump, be allowed to wander into a women's dressing room at Bergdorf-Goodman's by himself. Now, let's look at the current ownership..Neiman Marcus ..well since 1987. This woman selected 1986 when Broadway-Hale owned it and has since gone bankrupt and bought out by Federated. This is particularly important as there aren't any Broadway-Hale executives you could question about the incident .. nor about policies that would have prevented such an incident happening.

How about student loans? How about some control guidelines.. Like maybe, making them only available to get for and from instate public colleges, or if you want an elite or out-of-state university, then loans can only be issued by the particular school. That way, the school would have the students interest in getting a degree that will allow you to pay back your loan. Another would be only give loans out for books and tuition.. Most colleges rake over students with out-of-control student fees, way over priced dorm and food facilities. Let colleges focus on the education aspects rather than as housing, entertainment, and food moguls.

Yesterday I brought up questions about the old Spencer High School site.. about it being a liability rather than an asset.. about it being an "attractive nuisance", a hazard for students and the taxpayers. Did you hear...the GA DOT is considering a roundabout at US 27 and GA 315 in Harris County. My advice to Harris Countians is not to take it until after they can evaluate the idiocy of the roundabout on River Road here in Columbus. Hey. Columbus Council, how come the GA DOT isn't paying for ours? Originally, it was, but now we are.. and at a $5.8 Million dollars difference from the initial projects.

Two comments I've made recently about situations of the MCSD have triggered other comments that have brought up two more areas to address. First is: Now that the new Spencer is operational, what is...or will be happening at the old Spencer site? Will it be razed .. will it be sold... or can it be utilized in any other capacity? Any empty building is a liability in it's own right, but one in as bad a shape claimed is a disaster waiting to happen. Add the concealed nature of the site from public view..then throw in the attractive nuisances of unmaintained athletic fields and gymnasium, and as an 1960s/70s astronaut might say, "Houston (Columbus), we have a problem"

 

The second involves the Columbus High baseball field. The Columbus High program became legendary under Bobby Howard because of another aspect other than winning games. Howard created a unity of parents and players that served both well. The parents were involved in making the facility superior, and players form CHS and visiting schools knew the complex was special. Now, there will be little for the parents to do as the field will become only place for parents to come watch games... and when maintenance issues arise, the parents will neither be there to help..nor even equipped with the tools and knowledge to be of help.

The next time you see/hear a Safelite ad where they drive out to your damaged windshield site and fix it, then tell you there's no charge because your insurance company waves the deductible when you repair the damage vs replace the windshield. My daughter noticed a chip in the windshield of her less than 30 day old car, and when she contacted her insurance company, she was told that it stop doing that 10 years ago so she'd have to pay for the chip repair because it was under her comprehensive deductible. I told her to have the windshield replaced instead.. I'd rather her have a new windshield and pay the $200.00 deductible rather than pay the chip repair costs of about $60.00 and have a damaged windshield on a one month old car. You may want to clear this up with your insurance carrier before you find out what you think is covered...isn't.

I just drove Columbus High School and saw what's going on on the baseball field.. I can understand how professional sports allow individual "variables" as to the brand of shoes they wear ... personal contracts and all... but how is it allowed in amateur collegiate .. even high school level team sports? Last month I went to a Dr's Appt and paid my Medicare co-pay up front. Last week I got another bill for that visit for an additional $6.28 the Dr's office manager said I owed because the Medicare share I paid earlier was just a "Guesstimate". I said.. "seriously?" .. What has it cost YOU in office and billing calculation time and to issue/mail a supplemental bill..$25.00-$35.00 or more? No wonder healthcare costs are rising.. I told the office manager.. you sent me a supplemental bill and lost $20.00-to-$30.00 more than if you just ate the $6.28... or simply waited until my next scheduled visit and explain nicely why I owe an additional $6.28.

I've own a couple of Samsung TV's, a Samsung phone, and Saturday, got a Samsung Gear Frontier 3S watch. Sunday morning, the watch was not updating my "Steps", so I contacted "Samsung Help" online, and they would offer none until I agreed to sign up for their service agreement for $5.00.for 7 days or an annual contract. Went to You Tube and found the info I needed for FREE. Guess I will not be buying anymore Samsung TVs or phones in the future since it's service won't talk to me for free during the 24 hours after buying.

25 years ago, we were subjected to the famous "Slow White Bronco" rolling on the highway system of California.. and we were thinking... "slow white Bronco"?
