Just read this off the MCSD website: Report Card: Britt David Magnet School - 96.8% of its 3rd grade students are reading at or above the grade level target." -- Wow! this is our best... and it's not good enough... performance is higher than 3% of schools in the state and is lower than its district. * Its students' academic growth is higher than 18% of schools in the state and lower than its district." -- Less than 1-in-7 are reading at the minimum level determined to be the 3rd Grade standard! There may be worse, but I hope not.. We are honoring Dr King today/Monday but is the MCSD really honoring him when stats like this are in a school named for him in hopes of motivating the learning process/desires of students? We can.. we must.. do better!

Times.. they have a changed... here's a local church bulletin item showing that Jordan Vocational High School had a graduating class of 509 in 1961. I know my CHS Class of 65 had well over 500 as well. As a rule, high school Senior Classes are generally the smallest of the 4 class years .. Now, most of our public high schools have but 200-300 in a graduating senior class. The MCSD does not have but 3 high schools with over 1,000 students overall.

Well... the "black boxes" from the Ukraine plane are being sent to Ukraine so they can be examined... Iran's Khamenei has apologized and now Democrats are focused on blaming President Trump for it all. You know, Ali Khanenei can apologize to the moon and back about it being an "accident", but when a person manually fires 2 missiles at an outgoing airplane, this was no accident.

As of Tuesday, January 21st, there are but 9 weeks left to the GA Presidential Primary date.. it's time to start getting Columbusites to mark their calendars to make sure they go vote because.. BECAUSE that's also the date the the MCSD is trying to slip it's continuing SPLOST tax by unnoticed.. We are not getting any help from the MCSB either.. they chose this date versus the November General Election date because the MCSB and MCSD KNOW that very few non-Democrats will vote in the Presidential Primary election as President Trump has already committed to 4 More Years!

Some ring manufacturer will gross about $15,000 for some 50 rings, and a T-shirt printer will gross about $15,000.00 at 6.00 cost per shirt for the 2,500 shirts it will take to net the $15,000.00 needed for the 50 Rings. So far, that means some $30,000.00 would have to be collected from the community to raise the money to pay the ring and T-shirt vendors. Wouldn't a wall plaque with team picture be a lot more appropriate and a nice one can be had for about $20.00 each. Tell you what.. if the "powers that be" choose the picture/plaque option, I will donate $1,000.00 towards the picture/plaque option.
