Karzai is snubbing Judas 00-Barnum by releasing about 65 "terrorist detainees", ones our soldiers captured and turned over to Afghanistan to try/incarcerate. You know, this is not unexpected.. Karzai doesn't care if the releasees kill our soldiers.. he is just looking out for himself for when the Taliban resumes power following 00-Barnum's scheduled pullout.

A story in the Columbus L-E concerning local political donations for local offices once again reveals a need for campaign finance reform. Incumbents raising funds during their terms of office for re-election is somewhat coercing, sorta like AC-DC blackmail. How about a simple donation reform that allows receiving/giving donations only in a period of the 12 months preceding the swearing in date of the office the candidate is running for election/re-election. When donations are given/received during the other months of an incumbent's term, who knows what promises, what conditions, what deals are tied to it. Also, what needs to be revealed are "donations" made from any candidates personal foundation that similar "donations" are made to organizations benefiting from the LOST Public Safety tax revenues earmarked for "Crime Prevention".

Online story: "NBC News says veteran newsman Tom Brokaw has cancer. * The network says Brokaw was diagnosed in August with multiple myeloma, a cancer affecting blood cells in the bone marrow. Doctors are optimistic about his treatment." -- Multiple myeloma... I remember decades ago when myeloma was considered the worse of cancers... the most painful of cancer deaths. An assistant who worked for me at Kirven's died with myeloma. She fought pain bravely for many months before she was correctly diagnosed. Finding out nothing would stop the spread or the pain "broke" her. She died weeks later. Now, doctors can be optimistic. God is good, indeed.

Remember the farcial defensive moves NBA players made when Johnson drove the lane after it was announced he was HIV positive? It was like Cecil B. Why do people hide their campaign for marijuana behind a "it's for the children" agenda? We all sympathize at the unusual medical situations of children, but to expose all children to the ills of a drug world just to tyry something to see if it might help/work is not a prudent solution to personal problems/needs. Using a traditional cast, my healing process would have required 4 of them at $120.00 a pop. I was fitted with a velcro strapped aluminum device instead. Being a self-pay patient, I actually got to see the bill... $460.00. I researched similar devices, and found the very best one had been developed as a tool for "curing" a golf swing flaw. It retailed for $49.95. I took this info to my physician who was dumfounded at the cost of the medical device he had been educated by the prosthesis provider which had an office in the medical facility. My doctor came with me as I confronted the in-house third party prosthesis "attendant/fitter". That man said he didn't know what the device cost either as he dispensed them and his company did the billing. He, too, was alarmed at what the billing cost was. Seems the billing department arm of his business was use to only billing to insurance companies, and billed them at the highest price that each insurance company would process. After a lot of hem-hawing, I got a 50% discount adjustment, and only paid $230.00 for the device I could have bought from a golf retailer for $49.95.

Looking at the crime maps/statistics that Mayor Obamalinson wants to focus on is somewhat skewed. The areas she has highlighted are heavy with drug issues, and increased police patrols will have little effect on them. Drug deals will just move a block or two, or wait for the patrol cars to drive away. The areas that would benefit most from increased patrols would be in areas that have more home burglaries, and car break ins/thefts. Of course, this ain't gonna happen on her watch, because she doesn't want to alarm her donor list by bringing those crime stats to their attention.

Renaming our school sectors is a time-tried liberal play in their book of politics.
