The Breakfast Club - July 16, 2010

Online headline: "University of Texas Board Rechristens Dorm Named After Klan Organizer" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought Senator Byrd had sent a posthumous earmark to some place other than WV.
---
From story of above: "When the dorm was named after(Klan Organizer and Attorney/teacher William) Simkins 55 years ago, UT administrators apparently overlooked that part of his past." -- What a contrast to Senator Byrd. Byrd was given Senate absolution and canonized; bet Simkins wasn't a DIM/DUMBorat. Hmmm, wonder if WV will strip Klan Organizer (is that the same as a Community Organizer?) Byrd's name off all the buildings, bridges, and roads in a few years? Hope so.
---
L-E headline/story: "Ex-Columbus High teacher Cypert files petition to toss guilty plea * Convicted sex offender, former teacher claims attorney didn’t inform him consent of the student was a defense * According to his attorney, W****** M****, that means Cypert’s guilty plea should be set aside. That would put the case back at pre-trail status, and it couldn’t be prosecuted, M**** said." -- This is another example of how 99% of attorneys give the other 1% a bad name.
---
L-E headline/story: "Georgia voters support raising taxes for education funding * Statewide, 39 percent said they opposed paying more for education, and 11 percent were undecided. Women were more likely than men to support paying more for schools, and African-Americans more willing to do so than whites. Democrats were twice as likely as Republicans to support higher taxes or fees for education." -- Hmmm, looks like poll results shows that those who already pay most taxes are against more taxes, and those who don't pay much (if any) in taxes would agree to tax those who do some more. Who'da thunk?
---
From the story above: "Democrats were twice as likely as Republicans to support higher taxes or fees for education." -- Yet DIM/DUMBorat politicians get DIM/DUMBorat voters by promising only to raise taxes on other people. If a politician promises Paul he's going to rob Peter to pay Paul, all the Pauls will vote for that poltician.
---
L-E headline: "‘Gumball Bandit’ pleads guilty" -- The police say he's guilty, the video shows he's guilty, and the accused admitted he was guilty, but some Public Defender will want to pad his pay hours and say obviously his client was temporarily insane for admitting it (versus actually doing the crimes), and this will drag on for years. Another case of the 99%...
---
Passed on from another fellow BCer: "AP Atlanta Braves: Fans give Jason Heyward thumbs-up * ATLANTA — Hank Aaron expected Jason Heyward to make an immediate impact in a sport which needs young black stars" -- I remember Jason Heyward from his Henry County High days, and he's quite a ball player, but I hope he will achieve higher goals than Aaron hopes for. I hope Jason Heyward will become an immediate positive role model on and off the field as well for all races of sport stars.
---
Online story: "Petroleum giant (BP) confirms it lobbied British government about a prisoner transfer with Libya" -- Greasing up our coast line is bad enough, but greasing up politicians is criminal!
---
L-E headline/story: "Columbus crime: Police investigate series of burglaries on Sidney Simons, Armour Road * Classique Petique, 5300 Sidney Simons Suite 10, was broken into between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 4 a.m. today. Someone shattered glass on the front door * Taiye Tailoring and Alteration, 5300 Sidney Simons Suite 13, also had its front door glass broken * John Nails, 5300 Sidney Simons Suite 3, had its front door broken out * Someone broke inside Signature Salon, 4223 Armour Road, through the front door between" -- Hmmm, maybe someone should check again to see if someone has a sale on replacing glass in front doors....
---
L-E headline: "Shohreh Aghdashloo speaks out against stoning " -- Ooops, my bad. Thought some unkown-to-me rock star was speaking out against marijuana use at concerts.
