A conservative's daily look at the news with an aspect of "Laugh-In Looks at the News" and "Johnny Carson's monologue" twisted in.

Online story: "LAS VEGAS – A birthday party in the Las Vegas area ended in tragedy Saturday when a 1-year-old boy died hours after he was attacked by his family's pet dog. * he crawled over to the dog and starting petting him. * The 120-pound Mastiff/Rhodesian mix latched its teeth around the boy's head and began shaking him, the Las Vegas Sun reported * The family said they had owned the dog since it was a puppy and it had never before displayed any signs of aggression. " -- There are breeds of dogs that just do not belong in families with children..... or neighborhoods with children.

Online story: "KHARTOUM, Sudan — Sudan declared a state of emergency Sunday in areas bordering South Sudan, giving authorities wide powers of arrest a day after they detained three foreigners in a flashpoint town along the frontier. * The detentions and state of emergency heightened tensions even further along border between the old rivals, who in the past month came to the brink of an all-out war because of renewed fighting in disputed areas." -- Al Sharpton.. Jesse Jackson... NAACP... Where are you!

Online story: "OAK GROVE, MN (CBS ATLANTA) - Former University of Georgia football player is arrested in connection to a serious assault in Minnesota. * Officers arrested King after he was accused of severely beating a man outside a birthday party given at the home of a mutual female friend. * The police report states the party was hosted by the parents of a 21-year-old friend. Both King and the victim were invited to the party according to investigators. * The victim told police that King struck him multiple times about the head and face with his fists and threw him, head first to the ground. The man is hospitalized with a skull fracture, facial fractures, and injuries which required more than 50 stitches. He may have a serious brain injury as well the police report stated. * King has not been formally charged. He remains in custody at the Anoka County jail. The decision to formally charge King and what to charge him with will be made by the Anoka County Attorney's Office early next week." -- "Not formally charged"? Al Sharpton.. Jesse Jackson.. NAACP.. Trayvon Martin's parents... Where are you!!!

Online story: "Keith Olbermann fired back at Jimmy Kimmel, who took several shots at the former Current TV host in his White House Correspondents Dinner speech. * He added: "I'm not complaining about the Kimmel jokes -- I'm fair game. I'm complaining about the revenge element. It reminds me of O'Reilly." -- Typical liberal.. Character assassination was his main trick in front of the camera. He can dish it a lot better than he can take it.

From the 'it's not one world' department - L-E story: "Angry parents are demanding to know why their kids are being taught about bombs and knives at nursery schools in a northern Indian state. * They complain that a book on Hindi language alphabets for children aged 4 to 5 says that "B" stands for bomb and "Ch" for "Chaku," or knife. Pictures accompany the words. * Ram Authar Dixit, president of the Parents-Student Welfare Association of Gurukul Academy in Uttar Pradesh state, said Sunday that the national education board was investigating how such a book was cleared for private nursery schools. * More than 100 schools in the state have been using the book." -- After the recent stupidity surge in the Muscogee County education system, do we have to worry about this book being adopted for use so the MCSD board can claim it is culturally diverse?

The latest from barackobama.com: "By pitching in $3 or whatever you can before tomorrow's fundraising deadline, you won't just be automatically entering yourself for the chance to spend an evening with President Obama at George Clooney's house... " -- $3.00 for a meal with potUS Arpege & Clooney? Guess he's realizing how much his popularity has diminished within his base.

Why should public employees get any City contribution to a pension plan? Small business owners not only have to pay the SS taxes on their paychecks, small business owners also have to pay the same amount as their business 'contribution', and it's not 4%.

L-E opinion piece: "The SAT continues to show flaws as an accurate prognosticator of college success * The College Board's standardized exams, tainted with bias, claim to be able to determine a student's success in college merely after 4 hours of testing. * According to a study by Ford and Campos of Educational Testing Service (ETS), the SAT predicts a college freshman's GPA with only an 8-15 percent accuracy." -- Though written by a local private high school student who will have no problem with the SAT, this just shows how negatively biased conversations about the SAT have become in order to prepare students for failure of the school systems ability to prepare them for either a college or career track when they graduate. The SAT has never been a predictor of how well a student will do or adapt to college level work; it is (or is "was" a better tense since the various dumbing down efforts have been initiated) a guide to colleges as to whether the incoming students have the tools needed to do the level of work the college offers.

Today's BC is a little truncated as the L-E, which doesn't really have too much to offer on Monday's as a rule, has not published/delivered it's full subscription-paid online version yet.
