Online headline/story: "Americans Prefer Budget Cuts To Tax Increases To Reduce Deficit: Survey * April 17 (Reuters) - Cutting government programs is favored as the way to reduce the U.S. budget deficit by more than twice as many Americans..." -- A survey (and undoubtedly probably paid by 'us') was needed to show this? DIM&DUMBERats should be shaking in their shoes about November. --- Online headline/story: "Wisconsin Recall: State Board Says Fake Democrats Can Run In Election * The Wisconsin Government Accountability Board voted unanimously that the six "protest candidates" recruited by Republicans be allowed to run as Democrats because state law doesn't require candidates to prove that they belong to a party." -- It's only fair since DIM&DUMBERats lowered the bar for requiring presidential candidates provide authenticated birth certificates BEFORE candidates run in presidential primaries. --- A soldier was arrested for urinating on the front door of The Loft. Guess he was a graduate of 'you can't fix stupid', and thought the sign read 'The Loo'. --- potUS Arpege is concerned about fraud and deception of oil companies that increase the price of gas at the pumps... Why isn't he more concerned about fraud and deception at the GSA which hits taxpayers directly in their wallets? --- Clarification note: Arpège is a French word (and perfume), and is pronounced with 'g' being a soft one (a 'j' sound). Arpège used to run a very good ad campaign using the 'hook', "promise her anything, but give her Arpège". --- Online quote service: ""Any woman who understands the problems of running a home will be nearer to understanding the problems of running a country." Margaret Thatcher " -- What a timely nightmare for Hillary Rosen and the DIM&DUMBERtas! --- Online headline/story: " Official Put Bounty on Obama's Head? * A politician is in hot water for reportedly offering millions for the capture of President Obama and former President George W. Bush" -- Now we know a second reason Romney suggested potUS Arpege should 'Start packing'. --- Did you see any of the GSA investigation yesterday? When the 5 who were present were sworn in stood up, it looked like they were all wearing the same Jos A. Bank suits. You'd think they got one of those "buy 1, get 4 more free deals", but the reality is that they probably did, but charged the taxpayers for the full cost for each one. --- L-E headline: "Georgia board stays execution of Taylor County murderer to examine claims" -- What claims? The same ones he was found guilty of 20 years ago? Once again, following conviction involving a death sentence, the state should provide a maximum window of two years for such appeals while giving such convicts a priority track for the appeal (single). Taxpayers should not be further penalized by extended 'room and board' or financially supporting lawyers. --- L-E column: "Richard Hyatt: Race should be factor in Muscogee County superintendent search" -- The only 'race' factor that should be relevant is the 'race' to attain a quality educational environment for children of all 'races'. --- What the MCSD board needs to be looking for in a new Superintendent is a person, gender or race not important, who is not looking at the Superintendent of Muscogee County schools as their pre-retirement job. Hiring someone that will be here long enough to see his/her ideas to actually come to fruition (and make a difference) should be the main criteria of the hunt for a new "Super". --- Why is Roy Bourgeois in the news? What's the attraction for Ben Wright to follow him outside Columbus, when there's no reason to cover him while IN Columbus? Read more here: http://www.ledger-enquirer.com/2012/04/17/2015866/parole-board-stays-execution-of.html#storylink=cpy --- L-E headline: "Columbus police catch couple having sex at Fall Line Trace rest stop" -- Read more here: http://www.ledger-enquirer.com/2012/04/17/2014910/couple-caught-by-police-having.html#storylink=omni_popular#wgt=pop#storylink=cpy Their names should be plastered in bold caps! Perhaps even in 'scarlett' ink. --- Marvin Crumbs is a good man...a capable man, and his talents should not be thrown away.. had the opportunity to see him in action over a several year period, but he wrote his own epitaph by stupidly showing the clip, "You Can't Fix Stupid". Bet he looks back at his own self-fulfilling legacy. --- L-E "headlie"/story: "COLUMBUS STATE UNIVERSITY * CSU makes smallest tuition increase in decade * The regents also approved 18 fee increases at various institutions across the system. Students at CSU will see the fee for the school’s new recreation center increase to $170 per semester from $135 per semester. Lester said the increase will go toward bond repayments, utilities and general operations for the facility, which opened in 2011." -- Mandatory fees are just as important as class fees in determining education costs, as are the costs of students buying food and sundries at the 'college stores' because of funds locked into the proprietary "Cougar Card". --- When CSU was building the "student spa center" it projected that a $125.00 mandatory fee per semester would pay for it. With student enrolment at record levels, why are students having to pay an additional $45.00 over the initial projections? --- Another liberal's L-E "soundoff": "Read the Constitution. The House of Representatives, not the Senate, initiates all money bills, including the budget. Republicans control the House. " -- Well, Republicans have presented a budget; it's just not looked at or voted on in the DIM/DUMB run Senate, nor would it be signed by potUS Arpege. Of course, when Queen Pelosi was House Speaker over a predominant DIM/DUMB Congress, there were no budget bills passed. --- Another liberal's L-E "soundoff": "For decades, the gun lobby has held America hostage through their morbid misinterpretation of the Second Amendment. All one has to do is turn on any news program to see how well that is working. " -- If all the laws were aimed at only restricting the purchase, possession, use, and ability to carry whenever/wherever for criminals, there wouldn't be the need for many laws. Law abiding citizens unfettered possession works to keep crime down wherever it is implemented. --- I have a question Council needs to consider: At the end of 10 years, will the directorship of the 10 year Homeless" initiative be phased completely out? What, after 5 years or so will be the Council's posture should eliminating 'homelessness' be shown not to be making any progress that indicates continuing another 5 years will cure it? --- L-E's "Thought for today: “There is no shame in not knowing; the shame lies in not finding out.” — Russian proverb. " -- This should be posted in every Congressional Investigation Chamber, and the motto of every government "Ethics Committee"! --- What's with these ads proclaiming the union based US Postal Service runs efficiently without tax dollars. The US Postal Service has run in the red for years, and it takes being propped up by taxpayers for it to continue running. Just more union propaganda, and the ad campaign needs to be thoroughly examined as to who is paying for these ads? --- L-E headline/story: "Councilors not pleased with natatorium’s projected deficit * New facility to operate at $1.2 million deficit * Parks and Recreation Director James Worsley presented the business plan to councilors during a special called work session. It projected the facility would have annual expenses of about $2.1 million and revenues of about $900,000. * Several Councilors were not pleased with the news. -- First, thanks to James Worsley's candid honesty...we don't get much of that when budgets are made as a rule; secondly, why are there only "several Councilors not pleased with the news". All recreational operations should be supported by the people who use them, and use fees should coverer the costs. Private industry not only requires itself to cover costs, it needs to have a 'profit' (contrary to most Councilor's standards, "profit" is not a derogatory word) to pay for ongoing maintenance and future services. --- L-E news flash: A 17 year old was caught having sex with a younger female at Lakebottom Park while children were playing baseball close by. The L-E named the 17 year old male, but didn't name the 23 & 20 year old couple engaged in similar activities at the Fall Line Trace rest stop. --- With bigger fish to fry, why is Roger Clemen's back on trial? --- From the 'why is this news' department: "Buffett has early-stage prostate cancer * OMAHA, Neb. — Warren Buffett is telling shareholders in an open letter he has been diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer. * The 81-year-old billionaire investor and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. said in the letter, released Tuesday, that his condition is “not remotely life-threatening” or debilitating." -- Let's face it, eventually every male will deal with prostate problems. Reaching 81 before it flares up is it's own blessing. One thing to note here is that under "HELL-thScare", some panel would probably RULE Buffet is too old to be considered for such surgery. Let's face it, this will be the only "Buffet Rule" that passes. ---
