Online story: "Protesters around the country have held rallies calling for Zimmerman's arrest, and the Sanford police department has been the focus of withering criticism for its handling of the initial investigation. The case has become a flashpoint in the national debates over racial profiling and gun control laws. Martin was black. Zimmerman's father is white and his mother is Peruvian." -- Well, there 'they' go again.... "Zimmerman's father is white and his mother is Peruvian". When have you ever or last seen a description that his father is black and his mother is half Thai, a quarter Chinese and a quarter Dutch, or potUS O'Blather's father was black and his mother was white when either Woods or O'Blather's name comes up in a story. The media continues to make this a black & white racial issue with no evidential support. --- From the 'more evidence' department: Online headline/story: "Hillary Clinton Thanks 'Texts From Hillary' Guys For The 'LOLZ' * In less than a week, the blog "Texts from Hillary" has become an online sensation, boosting Clinton's public image in the process. As Benjy Sarlin of TPM wrote, "When she was running for the Democratic presidential nomination, Hillary Clinton was parodied as drab and calculated, especially compared with young and vigorous Barack Obama and winking and fresh-faced Sarah Palin. Now, she’s fueling Internet jokes based on her own brand of badass cool." -- First she announced she wouldn't be a candidate in 2016 if potUS O'Blather is re-elected because she would want to interfere with a Biden run; then she announced her Secretary of State obligations (texting?) would prevent her from showing up at the DIM&DUMBERat Convention; now she's bringing a week old blog site to the national forefront because it makes her look 'cool'. Hillary wants to run herself in 2016 and is notifying her base not to support O'Blather. --- Online headline: "Good News For Elizabeth Warren In Senate Race" -- Planned Parenthood endorsed her.... only a DIM&DUMBERat would consider this 'good news'. --- Online headline/story: "George W. Bush: I Wish They Weren't Called 'Bush Tax Cuts' * Bush went on to suggest that his tax cuts are such a popular target for Democrats simply because his name is attached to them." -- Excellent point since, in essence, they were/are really the "Hard working American taxpayer's Tax Cut". Substitute that for 'Bush' every time it is brought up, and it wouldn't be brought up at all! --- WTVM9 story: "MINOR, AL (WBRC) - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says they have arrested a father and daughter for breaking into a home to make meth." -- Sounds like the "Take your daughter to work" campaign just went too far. --- potUS O'Blather is in Florida claiming that in education, nothing replaces parents/parental involvement, BUT at the same time, government wants the schools to take over the parent roles of feeding the children, choosing their foods, teaching them about sex long before children can handle the physical and emotional aspects, transporting them to & from school, choosing subject matter, and eliminating Christianity from the children's lives. We need a new president and a new government attitude towards education. --- WTVM9 story: "From the State Department of Education: ATLANTA, GA - – Adhering to a 2008 update to federal education regulations, the Georgia Department of Education today released the new, four-year public high school graduation rate -- 67.4%. " -- Barely 2-out-of-3 high school students are graduating and yet our universities and colleges have record enrolments in school AND in remedial courses. Something just doesn't 'add up' right. --- You know, one way to get education back on track would be for the principal of a school who graduates students to the next level of education (elementary-to-middle school, middle-to-high school, high-to-college) be penalized a percentage of salary for every student who has to take remedial/catch up classes at the next level. Social promotions would be out-the-door, and we'd have a more accurate measure of the effectiveness of education. --- When you get down to the nitty-gritty, the number one cause of drop-outs is being advanced to a higher level unprepared to succeed. It's the basis of "The Peter Principle" which rocked the corporate scene decades ago. --- I'm glad to see the Council discussing the Comer Auditorium Building reconstruction in such a reasonable manner...one of 'if you're going to spend the money, do it so the city benefits long term". This is quite unlike Council discussions concerning Golden Park in the early 90's. When faced with the option of band-aid repairs to the stadium at a cost of $1.8 million versus building a new stadium off the North By-Pass geared for both baseball and as an outdoor music venue for $6 million. Council opted for the lesser expenditure, BUT in 1993-96, spent about $7 million renovating Golden Park for a two week venture for Olympic Softball. We still have that hulk of an obsolete structure sitting idly, and wasting both 'away' and what would have been the primo spot for the Civic Center, and we still don't have an adequately usable baseball arena or an outdoor music venue. --- You know, when a driver is caught/charged with driving without a valid license, then the car the driver was driving should be impounded for the length of the sentence. Even if the car is 'borrowed' form someone, friend or family, because the owner needs to know whether that person is properly licensed. --- L-E's "Thought for Today: “We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.” — Kurt Vonnegut (1922-2007). " -- Yeah! Let's hold all those politicians campaigning on government efficiency responsible for being so when re-election time comes around! --- L-E story: "WASHINGTON — Wireless carriers will be able to quickly disable a cellphone after it’s reported stolen, under a plan announced Tuesday by federal and local officials. * Officials hope the database of uniquely identifiable mobile phone numbers will be up and running in six months. It’ll allow wireless carriers to block a stolen device from being used again." -- Yeah... and in two weeks, thieves will have already figured out a way to to circumvent the manufacturers' "fix". --- L-E's "Quotable “There are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it.” -Oscar Wilde Irish dramatist (1854-1900) " -- Sorta like the potUS O'Blather win in 2008. Conservatives didn't get what they wanted, and liberals did, and now both are still in agony. --- The Charter Commission itself should be ashamed of itself for admittedly falling to political pressures, but the one's who didn't vote "No" have no right to whine about it afterwards. It goes back to the old political adage that if you didn't vote in a race, then don't complain about the results.
