"Donald Trump just released a list of 11 people he'd vet to fill the vacant seat on the Supreme Court if he wins the White House.
The list includes extreme ideologues who, if given the chance, would likely roll back our progress in critical fights like marriage equality and health care -- and would do devastating damage to a woman's right to choose, a union's right to organize, and everyone's right to vote.
And this being Donald Trump, it should come as no surprise that not one of his choices is a person of color."
-- Good grief.. Hillary is in deep trouble.. she's thrown the "women's Card" and Trumped herself by exposing to women that she feels they should enjoy.. welcome.. having pervert men use their bathrooms, and by saying she's not as capable of running the presidency as a man (Bill), and now she's throwing the "race Card"... again... but blacks are going to start looking at her record, too, and see she and the Democrats have never kept their promises or got them out of poverty.

From the "how come" department: Talk about having my socks blown off..last night at church, a retired former MCSD superintendent presented a request for an audit of various funds as part of a look into the future to make sure we are allocating and using out available funds in the best manner... I thought.. how come he didn't ask for a fund use audit of the school system?
---
There was an article about our school system showing a slide show of the "brightest" students talking about what they plan to do after college.. school officials took note.. and exception... that none of "the brightest" mentioned "teaching". Perhaps some of these "brightest" will return to teaching later in life when they can relate their experiences and successes to future students and motivate them to succeed.

You know, it's not just amazing...it's dauntingly disheartening, that we have 6 members on our school board who are content to remain in a financial fog when it comes to knowing how tax dollars are being spent. Fortunately, 4 posts are up for unseating 4 of those 6 this month. Vote for Pete Taylor, Joann Thomas Brown, Shelia (NOT Cathy) Williams, and Vanessa Jackson. We deserve responsible representation!

It really bugs me to see "Hillary for us" campaign signs. Nowhere can I conceive being included in Hillary's "us" category..

Passed on by a fellow BCer: Online story: "While arguing that Christians and other conservative have lost the “culture wars” in America, a professor at Harvard University insists that those with such religious and political views should be treated like Nazis for taking a biblical stance on today’s social issues. * Harvard Law Professor Mark Tushnet claimed in a recent blog post that Americans with a biblical worldview and others leaning toward the political Right have ended up on the wrong side of history and should be dealt with similar to the way Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Germans were treated after losing World War II. " -- "should be dealt with
similar to the way Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germnas were treated after losing World War II"? Good grief.. I am going to start looking a the credentials of younger lawyers I use in the future, and a diploma that reads "Harvard Law" will be an automatic exclusion.

Online headline: "Proposed police department budget tops $40 million" -- Hmmm well, that's about 15% of the City budget,, and half of that comes from the Public Safety LOST sales tax.. considering the crime spree barrage we are experiencing, the budget should be $40 Million without the LOST specified funding.

From the "Hey, ZERO-bama.. is it Islamic Terrorism time yet" department: " Online headline: "Plane carrying 66 vanishes over the Mediterranean Sea * EgyptAir said flight MS804 traveling from Paris to Cairo disappeared from radar over the Mediterranean Sea on Thursday." -- "terrorism hasn't been ruled out"... is one of the scenarios.. Good grief.. a plane drops out of contact.. and the air, without a peep, and there are some that speculate it could be something other than terrorism? VOTE TRUMP! The world needs him, too!

L-E "headline": "More work, more pay? New rule extends overtime to millions
* The annual salary threshold for companies to deny overtime pay will double
White House estimates that the rule change will raise pay by $1.2 billion a year
for the next decade * Some argue that changes will force businesses to convert
salaried workers to hourly to closely track working time" -- "some say that
changes will force businesses to convert salaried workers to hourly"? You betcha
boots it will.. titles will be stripped away,, promotions due to hard work and
loyalty will basically disappear, and overall compensation will drop.. Liberal
politicians have no clue as to what makes industry grow, and this just proves
it.. Salaried personnel are such because they have a specified job to do, and
hours in a week vary with that responsibility.. all these new regulations will
do is penalize the productive personnel. Hell, how do small business partners
pay themselves "overtime" when they are doing what it takes to to stay open and
profitable?

L-E headline/story: "Man wanted in fatal Hodges Drive shooting was recently
released from prison * Most recently incarcerated in the Macon State Prison,
Johnson was sentenced to serve 10 years on the theft charge starting March 23,
2011. He was released on Feb. 21 after the State Board of Pardon and Paroles
commuted the remainder of his sentence," -- Hmmm.. another "early release"
success story... NOT! I think it's time that when a felon convicted for
possession of a firearm is released early, the new victim's family should be
able to sue the individuals that voted to release the killer "early" from a
previous sentence.

L-E headline: "Symposium to feature ‘world-class’ business leaders * The
second Bob Wright Symposium is scheduled for Aug. 18 ABC News Anchor/Reporter
Byron Pitts will moderate" -- Yopu know, I applaud Dr. Bob Wright's quest to
bring good examples of successful business leaders to town, but didn't the L-E
just run a story on how segregation was reverting in our school systems?
Shouldn't examples of success be highlighted because of the content of their
character that works for all people of any race?
---
L-E headline/story: "More than 65 cyclists turn out for ‘Ride of Silence’
* Columbus City Manager Isaiah Hugley joined many of the riders dressed in
colorful cycling suits and representing groups throughout the city for the 6
p.m. event at the Columbus Museum. With a police escort, riders quietly rode
from the museum on Wynnton Road to 13th Street, Cherokee and Hilton avenues to
Broadway before returning to the museum. * Similar rides took place in other
cities across Georgia. * “We wanted to get people to understand the bicycle law
and be treated as a motorist,” said Jason McKenzie, owner of Ride on Bikes on
Broadway and the coordinator of a series of events for Bike Week" -- "We wanted
to get people to understand the bicycle law and be treated as a motorist"? Huh?
What the educational slant should be is that bicycles are legally vehicles bound
by the motor vehicle laws, and riders need to learn them and obey them.. no
sidewalks if you're over 12, and traffic signs/lights are to be obeyed. Oh,, and
since bikes are vehicles, why aren't they registered, taxed, and tagged like
motor vehicles? If you want to be "equal" you have to be equal in all
aspects.

Why are we having early voting centers open for 3 weeks prior to an
election date so 4,000 people can vote when they could just as easily requested
absentee ballots and the taxpayers wouldn't be stuck with the extra costs of of
multiple early voting centers?

L-E headline: "U.S.-MEXICO BORDER * Repairing border wall a daily duty *
Drug traffickers have smashed trucks into the barrier, trying to break through
Workers selling passage to illegal immigrants cut holes in the fence to allow
entry * Keeping California’s border fence intact is a $9 million-a-year job" --
Hmmm.. keeping the current fences repaired is a $9,000,000.00 a year expense..
hmmm sounds a whole lot cheaper than the billions we're spending on
incarcerating, schooling, feeding illegal aliens each year. Now, let's get the
fence completely finished and "wire it up" .. hey we can probably adapt solar
panels and windmill turbines to give a jolt to anybody that tries to breach
it!
