Speaking of Hillary.... have you noticed how little comparison has been made about this year's primaries' results and the 2008 when she ran against ZERO-bama? There's good reason... it doesn't seem that too many Democrat voters are even interested in her ...or Bernie. There have been 32 individual state primaries and the total number of Democrat voters bothering to go to the polls is off by 38%.. Only 13.379,000 million have voted in the Democrat primaries this year versus 21,511,000 in the same states in 2008 when she lost to ZERO-bama.. but wait... the next figures are even worse for her.. Hillary hasn't gotten as many votes this time as whn she lost to ZERO-bama in 2008.. In 2008, she had gotten 9,727,000 votes but this year she only gotten 9,351,000 votes! The DNC has these numbers, and you know the DNC is not very happy,,

Earlier this year, my wife got a new Acura MDX... she's really enjoyed it ..until recently... the maintenance light came on saying it was "time" for "A1 Service" .. basically... its first oil change.. She made an appointment and took it in... after she got there, the service person told her it was going to cost $163.50... ($173.39 with taxes). She called me.. not being there, I said to go ahead and I would look at the bill and address it with the service department this week..
Yesterday, I did such.. I went there somewhat peeved, and left even more peeved. Seems the ""A1 service" warning light makes Acura feel it has a right to take advantage of the situation and do what ever it pleases and charge what ever it wants. It wasn't just an "oil change".. it also included a tire rotation and an oil drain "crush washer".
The regular labor charges at Acura are $109.00 per hour, but labor charges for the oil change, and tire rotation was "discounted" to $87.95 in the "A1" deal. (Of course when I get and oil change and a tire rotation any where else , the time takes about 30 minutes or less so the discount to $87.95 isn't so much of a "discount"). Any way.. parsing the bill. using Acura's figures for labor for each part of the total bill, I surmised this:
Oil Change: labor $43.60, 5 qts synthetic blend oil - $27.80, oil filter - $6.93, oil drain plug "crush washer" - $ .38. and $2,26 in sales taxes. Total for "oil change" - $74.04.
Tire rotation: all labor, no taxes - Total $$34.88
Then it got cheesy.. they added a bottle of ethanol/injector cleaner that cost $25.77 (plus $2.06 in taxes)(STP's cost $5.88), a bottle of oil additive that cost $14.53 (plus $1.16 in taxes).( STP's cost about $3.50).. and then even more cheesier.. Acura figured labor cost on putting in the gas and oil additives were an additional $9.47!
From there it went downhill.. I asked what I would be charged if I came in and just wanted just an "oil change"..the service guy said, "$55.00" which was $19.04 less than what Acura just charged for one in the "A1 service" maintenance bill.
Then it got worse as I left.. the guy that sold her the car, gave me a brochure that showed on Tuesdays, Acura had a "Ladies Day" special.. an oil change AND tire rotation for $34.95. At that point the "financial guy was in the area, and convinced me to sit down in his office and talk about my concerns. He did a yoeman's job at disarming me.. even offered to have my wife's next 2 maintenance services done for free (of course since it could be done for $34.95 on "Ladies Day", the $173.39 I'd paid for the first one pretty much paid for more than 4 "Ladies Day" specials). I told him that was not my issue.. My issue was Acura giving my wife the kind of customer service that made her happy, and for us to want to buy another Acura in the future. That answer to that is still out..but only because of the financial guy jumping in to listen to my concerns. Oh.. and Acura might want to rethink labeling it's maintenance warning light as "A1 service" because that wasn't what we got when she took it in .

Have you seen the stakes put out on the River Road/Bradley Park Drive/Green Island Drive/Cascade Road intersection to mark off the proposed "roundabout"? With the new parameters put in after so many errors/flaws were pointed out in the first proposal, several house will lose the value and privacy the homeowners have maintained. In addition, most of the flaws/errors concerning pedestrian safety and logging/semi trucks tipping over are actually worse in the current proposals than the originals.

After reading the "Proposed River Road Overlay District", it looks to be what got passed on the Manchester Expressway project.. which.. basically protects the existing property holders, and drives not only the resale value of their property, but the costs to anyone else that wants to build in the area.. this will do the same out River Road.. guess this is how Mayor TomLYINGson "gifts" her friends. Contact your Council people and let'em know you're more informed than before.
