The Electoral College keeps one state, say California, from becoming a parasitic leach attracting entitlement seekers in outrageous numbers and being able to influence National politics. Trump won 30 states outright (and another Electoral College Vote in Maine).. That's a pretty good indicator of whom America as a whole wanted to be its leader.
