The Color Guard presentation teams at NFL games this weekend should be equipped with loaded guns when they take our flag out onto the fields and if any player/singer takes a knee during the National Anthem, the  soldiers should take them out.

Well, yesterday, Obama and Trump met in the Oval Office... mainscream media was agog in excitement.. speculating that the conversation was all about the transfer of power...I'm betting the conversation started out with Trump asking Obama if he remembered the 5 minute personal ridiculing Obama directed at Trump at the White House Correspondents Dinner in 2011.

I sit here handling a mirror... a US Army signal mirror.. it's special as it is, but its story is wonderful.. it served in both WW I AND WW II. It was issued to my grandfather Hallie B. Armentrout  in WW I. He carried it with him as he served as a gunner on one of the train mounted cannons in France and Germany. In WW II. my dad was stationed in various assignment around the Panama Canal to be on the look out for any Axis attempts to breach the Canal. The radios issued by the Army were not very functional in those areas, so soldiers wrote home to family seeking "mirrors"... many of soldiers' wives sent their "compacts". My mother was living in Goldsboro, NC with her parents, anxious and pregnant with my older brother. Dad's letter brought instant action as she dug through her belongings looking for a compact that might be durable enough to withstand the rigors of the times. Her dad, my grandfather, solved her dilemma by producing his WW I signal mirror. He wrote a note and enclosed it with the mirror.. At the end of he war, Dad returned it safely.. with his own note back to my grandfather. What a honor for me to have it today!

L-E headline: "Braves sign Dickey for 1 year, $8 million" -- Good grief.. no wonder pay scales in sports are incomprehensible.. why would any team give any one player $8 Million for one year (even with an option)under any circumstances. If the player has a "good/great" year, the price will "jump" accordingly, and if the player has a "bad/unproductive" year, the Braves are out of $8 Million, and probably suffered in the standins and at the gate.
