The NFL boycott worked... just saw an article where Free Agent Kirk Cousins is signing a 3-year, guaranteed $84-Million contract.. I don't know who Kirk Cousins is.. I don't even know what team he played on before signing..

Hmmm... there's a new "sculpture" at the Columbus Water Works facility at the corner of Veterans and 14th Streets.. sorta anchoring the Dragonfly Trail at that point.. I remember the last time the CWW "erected" a sculpture.. the one across from the RiverCenter.. The public was furious.. nor only at the design, but that the CWW paid for it from profits from billing us.. and someone "donated" it's cost.. Now.. who paid for the new one..

Mercedes claims it is the first luxury maker of a pickup truck.. Cadillac and Lincoln probably disagree on that, but I';ll ask Mercedes the same question I asked Cadillac and Lincoln.. Why?

From the "really?" department - Online story: "Police say a teacher in California accidentally fired his gun in a classroom, injuring three students. * It happened Tuesday at Seaside High School as Dennis Alexander was teaching a gun safety lesson for his administration of justice class. * Police say Alexander, who also serves as a reserve police officer, was pointing the gun at the ceiling to make sure it was not loaded when the weapon discharged." -- "also serves as a reserve police officer"? Really? Gimmee a break.. anyone trained in gun safety would not "fire" a gun to see if it was loaded or not.. If this "happened". it was planned.. and went more badly than contemplated.. in other words, a typical liberal program.

Online headline: "West Virginia governor fires education secretary, wife of US Sen Joe Manchin" -- There's more to this.. a lot political, but... BUT.. the real kicker is that Gayle Manchin should never have accepted a paid appointed government job while her husband is an elected official.
---
Online headline: "Hillary Clinton blames 'pressure' from men for why white women voted for Trump" -- Good grief.. what really happened was women not being comfortable with Hellary being portrayed as "the" role model for women or wives.
---
Online headline/story: "Winner of a $560 million Powerball jackpot can keep the money and her secret, judge rules * The mysterious winner of a $560 million lottery ticket who fought to keep her identity a secret is allowed to stay anonymous, a judge ruled Monday. * Not much is known about the New Hampshire woman, who won the Powerball jackpot in January and asked a judge to let her stay out of the public eye. The judge last week ruled that the woman could claim her prize money while he considered whether her privacy interests outweighed the state’s lottery rules." -- Some petty liberal judge has just opened the door for future lottery scams. Without public disclosure, any high official ..for that matter, any mechanic involved in the number selection device maintenance, can rig the outcome, and the public will not be able to detect it.

From the "really PO'd" department - My wife has been driving her Acura for two years now... I just learned today that her car does not have a spare tire...it has a air pump and "fix-a-flat" instead. The dealer tried to soft-peddle the situation as one with little downside because she has "roadside service"... that's not comforting considering there are places we go that don't have good cell service and some that have NO cell service. Guess it's about time to get rid of her car...and that dealer.

Chances are that Pocahontas Warren already has done a DNA test, which explains why she says she isn't going to get one...She already knows the results but she's not going to release them..because it either confirms the critics, or it might be more useful as an "October Surprise"in her next re-election bid.

You know... but it's not going to happen, but like Trump has shown in economics, school systems won't improve until a Trump-type Superintendent is appointed to lead our MCSD. There has to be someone who understands that $750,000.00 for a 2,400 square foot metal/slab wresting room is robbery,.. from the taxpayers and from the students/teachers who should be getting the bulk of that assigned money put into the classrooms.

This is a picture of a pothole on the street in front of my home.. it's pretty representative of the streets in our neighborhood.. Our HOA announced this week that our streets are rated a "45" , and the City is working on streets rated "30-to-35". You know, if Columbus, GA wants to attract new industry and citizens, the City should not let streets get below a "50" rating. All the bike trails in the City will not matter when prospective employers/employees of new industries scout out the housing market and see the road conditions in our City.

From the "the sky is falling: department - L-E headline: "MCSD security director calls for full-time officers, metal detectors at every school" -- Good grief...if someone makes it to a metal detector WITH a gun, he/she will already be in position to cause havoc.
You know. last week I posted a question to all MCSB members and candidates about how many people are employed by the MCSD in its "security department".. I remember a number from a few years back that stunned me because the money would be better spent with video/audio security systems connected to the CPD... not one has responded with a number.. One did say he would look and get back with me, but that has happened.

From the "wonder no more" department - Online story: "Several news outlets in Savannah report that Vice President Mike Pence will participate in the St. Patrick’s Day parade and celebration on Saturday. * He won’t be the only politician attending. Virtually every statewide name on the GOP and Democratic primary ballots will be on hand, too." -- And you wondered how bills get passed allowing drive through windows at liquor stores, and Sunday openings for liquor stores..

If the Board of Elections is not going to disqualify Chamber exec Amy Bryant from running for mayor, whoever is the next mayor should bring up a new law prohibiting tax dollars from being sent to the Chamber.
---
Any candidate for any office in GA will curry favor for me if they pledge to get legislation passed that prohibits ANY public dollars being paid to any attorney once the GA Supreme Court has ruled on the first appeal of any death sentence.

Has anyone heard whether the TSYS employee who "aided and abetted" hat prison escape had any access to any of our private financial records?
---
It has already been ascertained that the garbage truck on the AMTRAK rails at the road/RR crossing had to enter the intersection AFTER the warning gates went down, and considering the 3 men were determined to get themselves killed as well because they did not leave the cab, why haven't we seen a full-fledged terrorism investigation?
---
From the "the felons have already learned" department - L-E headline/story: "Man charged in shooting death of robbery accomplice at Lucky Food Mart * A man allegedly killed his friend outside of a Floyd Road food mart Feb. 9 after a gun fell into his lap during an armed robbery attempt, according to testimony Tuesday in Columbus Recorder’s Court.
* T**** T**** Jr., the 19-year-old who was also shot during the incident, pleaded not guilty to murder, attempted armed robbery and aggravated assault. He was ordered held without bond in the Muscogee County Jail." -- You know.. after the series of "jury fails" at convicting killers in our local courts, felons have learned that it will behoove them to plead "NOT GUILTY" versus getting a plea bargain deal with the DA's Office..
---
From the "sacrilege " department - L-E headline/story: "Sidewalk, parking closed on part of 12th Street * If you are waiting for the sidewalk and parking places along the south side of 12th Street between Broadway and First Avenue next to the downtown CB&T building to reopen, don’t hold your breath." -- "CB&T Building"? Good grief.. it looks like Chuck has crossed the line since Synovus has renamed itself and dropped its "CB&T" identity.
---
From the "just cannot resist responding to this headline" department - L-E commentary headline: "How do we handle the facts-challenged among us? * BY LEONARD PITTS JR. *
Miami Herald" -- "How do we handle facts-challenge between us"? Well, with Pitts, the answer is constant and simple.. not very well.
