While that OMB official didn't know why the funds were being frozen, a second OMB aide, who was not on camera, said "the directive had come from the president to the chief of staff to OMB," according to Taylor. The call occurred one week before Trump's discussion with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy." -- Good grief.. the most embarrassing exposure is learning that previous presidents had such bad business instincts on how to get the most... and best ... results for the American citizens when giving other countries money! From the "another liberal "feel good but doomed intention" department - Online story: "The Athens-Clark County government has drafted a more than $100 million project list for a Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) which, if backed by voters in a November 2020 referendum, would produce much-needed affordable housing, among other things. * Like many Georgia cities, Athens suffers from an affordable housing shortage, and the approval of the SPLOST 2020 could ultimately funnel almost $45 million in tax monies toward affordable housing projects and the public infrastructure they rely on — think roads, sidewalks, water mains, sewer lines and stormwater facilities." -- Good grief! Obviously the Athens-Clark County officials have not looked into the fact that all homes.. but especially low quality builds need ongoing expenses for maintenance and repairs that just aren't going to be done by renters, and SPLOSTs don't allow such.. Columbus Council needs to be aware of this also with it's pie-in-the-sky SPLOST project wants.

On Thursday, dozens gathered at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center to start that process. * Elected state officials are meeting with local leaders in Columbus to discuss ideas for the next legislative session. “We share with them some of the challenges we have and things that are going on in our city, so that when they get back to the capitol, they will know what our challenges are and hopefully support us on those things,” said City Manager Isaiah Hugley. “This is an opportunity for us to come together, develop a consensus and do just that. Tackle that problem and perhaps have an impact,” Harbison said." -- Hmmm.. I have one serious question: Were any Republicans invited?

Turns out, the scramble for political money has become far more decisive in the Democratic primary races than any of their policy papers or tedious TV debates." -- Hmmm.. what's become MOST apparent is that donors are recognizing that there's no one running as a DemocRAT that's worth the "investment".

After all the ballyhooing from McClatchy, the new Columbus L-E e-edition is a flop.. it's become more difficult to copy and paste articles, and it's impossible to post any articles in it directly to Facebook. I've subscribed to the e-edition since it was offered but will be considering whether to cancel my subscription ...or not..
