Yesterday, I heard about the plight of a local business in the UpTown Columbus (GA) area that has been negatively impacted by a movie production's "parking needs". She has a specialty women's clothing shop on the 1100 block of 1st Avenue, and for the past 2+ weeks has had "wall-to-wall" movie production trailers parked in front of her business 24/7. Her regular customers have not been able to park in her proximity, nor have potentially new customers been able to see her business while driving near it.. The City received.. by movie production accounts.. "big bucks" to park there". Ironically, the City will soon be the business owner's "neighbor" since the City has bought the building next to her location.. I wonder if the City would have even considered.. much less ALLOWED.. a movie production company to seal off citizen access to City offices/services they needed to get to? This is her website:

From the "2nd Worse Idea for the Historic District in 2022" department - Online Columbus L-E headline/story: "A $2M project could bring 5 historic homes to downtown Columbus. This is why * The five homes were donated to Historic Columbus, and three of them previously belonged to Historic Westville, a living history museum that relocated from Lumpkin to Columbus a few years ago. * Historic Columbus will fund the project, and the work is expected to take 18 months, executive director Elizabeth Walden told the Ledger-Enquirer." -- Actually, I'm all for preserving Columbus, GA's history when feasible and possible, but not at the expense of authenticity. Homes from other cities/counties do not belong in Columbus' Historic District. Oh! the number 1 WORST Idea for 2022 is moving a 20' Tall, fiberglass COW onto the banks of the Chattahoochee River to blight the view for every visitor to the RiverWalk experience...

You know... If you opened your bank statement and saw where a Congressman had withdrawn ... stolen...cash from it, you'd be a "little"... No... A LOT... PO'ed! Yet, when your Congressman simply votes to spend gargantuan sums of cash that belongs to you as a taxpayer, you probably don't think of it as yours. And if that same Congressman joined 217 other Democrats to write gargantuan checks that there's no money for in the account, you seem to not be concerned that this also devalues your own bank account... especially your retirement account. It's time to wake up!

From the "what happened to unity and togetherness" department - "WRBL-TV3 story: "The new Miss Georgia received a new car Monday afternoon for her ventures across the state. Warner Robins native Kelsey Hollis received a 2022 Kia Sorento to fulfill her year of service as Miss Georgia. * Hollis earned the job Saturday night at the River Center for Performing Arts. She was also awarded a $20,000 scholarship to continue her studies at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. * Hollis spoke to News 3 about her long journey to the crown: "It’s been a journey of hard work and dedication for sure. Being only the third black Miss Georgia that we’ve had and it’s been 14 years since we have crowned Black Miss Georgia. And with it being the day before Juneteenth, on top of that, it’s just such an honor,” said Hollis. “I think it sends the message of resilience to girls who do look like me" -- "girls who do look like me"? I'm sure the "Miss America Pageant" PR Department had a seizure when she said this on a video interview (think viral YouTube!)! Imagine how she would have sounded answering a question as a "Final Five" contender at the Miss America Contest... Four of the contestants would finish with"I'm want World Peace".. and Miss Georgia answered "I want Peace for people who look like me."

Online headline/story: "Andrew Gillum, DeSantis' 2018 opponent, indicted for wire fraud, false statements * Gillum, the former Tallahassee mayor, was charged along with his mentor, Sharon Lettman-Hicks, for fraudulently fundraising from "various entities" between 2016 to 2019, according to a Department of Justice press release. The Justice Department said the two allegedly diverted some of the money to a company controlled by Lettman-Hicks, who fraudulently disguised the funds as payroll payments to Gillum. * The indictment marks a new low for Gillum, a married father of three who withdrew from public life as a political leader and a paid CNN commentator after a March 2020 sex scandal involving a suspected male overdose victim in a South Beach hotel." -- Sadly.. Gillum will suffer no loss of status in the Democratic Party standings .. or Primary electability.......

Online headline/story: "Red-hot inflation is finding its way to Hershey chocolate bars * In a recent note to clients, Goldman analyst Jason English stated that Hershey has enacted "broad-based" price increases across its candy portfolio that "collectively amount to a 14% weighted average increase." English cited price increases of 17% on standard Hershey bars, 13% on "King" bars, and hikes on various pouch products. -- Wow! Looks like Sam's Club has been caught with it's pants down! Months ago, Sam's raised it's prices for 55 ounce jars of M&M's from $11.48 to $13.98 which is a 21+% raise!

Seriously.. isn't the Congressional witchhunt against Donald Trump "illegal"? For the Democrats to "try" Trump in their House Committee is circumventing the judicial system which was established to guarantee the accused a fair trial and assumes every charged individual is innocent until PROVEN guilty...

From the "Cancel Culture is still with us" department - Online headline/story: 'Robb Elementary School, site of massacre, will be razed, Uvalde mayor says * “You can never ask a child to go back or a teacher to go back in that school ever,” McLaughlin added." -- Excuse me.. wouldn't restrengthening the judicial system that holds criminals more accountable be a better tribute than the false feeling that "erasing history will make it all better"? Besides.. what else can be rebuilt there that would not always be described as the place this happened? This would be akin to Boston shutting down "the Marathon" after the "bomber Brothers" did their damage...

From the "Resident Biden needs better economic advisors" department - Online headline/story: "Biden asks Congress to suspend gas tax to 'bring families just a little bit of relief' * During the speech Wednesday at the White House, the president called for a suspension of both federal and state gas taxes through September — which would require new legislation from Congress" -- Good grief! Gov Kemp did this in April, but had to extend the state's suspension of it's 30.4-cents a gallon tax (but did not suspend the state and local SALES taxes) after the primary because to go back to normal before the November election would be political suicide! Even if the House and Senate passed legislation to suspend federal taxes through September, Democrats in Congress would HAVE to do the same extension as Kemp did in GA or face an even more devastating November defeat..
