Online headline: "Obama's uncle has driver's license, Social Security number" -- Hmm, obviously he had an illegal SSN which allowed him to apply for and receive an illegal driver's license, but the story stopped short of other illegal possibilities available once the SSN & Driver's license were attained. Has he illegally registered to vote or voted illegally? Being 67, has he illegally applied for and received Social Security checks and Medicare/Medicaid? Oh, and did he illegally contribute to his nephew's campaign? One other question, too, is how did he get into America to begin with...Hawaiian birth certificate? That may explain how he got a SSN to begin with.
---
Online headline: "Gunshots Fired At Texas Congressman's Office" -- BB's are "gunshots"? While it is wrong to shoot out windows of Republicans, too, did it matter to the media that the office belonged to an endangered DIM&DUMBERat Congressman, and "gunshots" sounded more right-wing extremist sensationalism than BB's?
---
Online headline: "ATF Chief Resigns Over Controversial 'Fast And Furious' Gun Trafficking Program" -- Looks like more 'burning the bridge be hind them' for potUS O'Blather and Holder.

Richard Hyatt says there are still questions unanswered about why some schools perform better that others. What questions? It's no secret that responsibility and accountability placed on the student gets results, and parental involvement. It's the attitude that a student can't learn because he/she is a 'victim' of environment or circumstance that creates the divide in achievement.

L-E headline: "Venerable Muscogee Manor plans move to $35 million facililty" -- ooops, my bad. Thought for a minute we would get some useful use out of the new education building.

From the L-E story on "Leadership": "When people are treated with respect and dignity and appreciation, they rally to the leader,” Blanchard said. “They just run to the leader for inspiration and hope. They place a lot of trust in the leader because he or she has earned their trust.” * Such an approach creates an environment in which employees of a company feel a freedom to express thoughts openly and experiment with new things, he said. The energy explodes instead of being suppressed. * “It’s the opposite of that manager who just throws a bucket of cold water in anybody’s face that comes up with an idea that particular leader didn’t have himself or herself,” he said." -- It's obvious that potUS O'Blather would have benefited greatly to have 'just' been in the audience here rather than vacationing on public time and tax dollars.
---
We've long known the White House and Congress are full of 'cracks' and now the Washington Monument is full of cracks. Guess this 3-of-a-kind will become known in poker circles as 'a debt-man's hand'.
---

Have you ever noticed that potUS O'Blather and liberals in general refer to all but white Americans as hyphen-Americans? Wonder if O'Blather refers to South Africans of Dutch descent as White-Africans and all others as Africans? Also, do were refer to an African-American who has moved to South Africa as an African-American-African? Just demonstrating absurdity by being such.
---
Online quote site: "When solving problems, dig at the roots instead of just hacking at the leaves." - Anthony J. D'Angelo" -- Someone ought to send this to potUS O'Blather so he'll know what is or isn't a 'shovel ready job'.

California is considering to ban Styrofoam food packages because they are not bio-degradable. They are recyclable, but that doesn't seem to matter to liberals. Now if liberals want to ban something because its's not bio-degradable, they should make an effort to ban silicon... but of course, that would bankrupt the whole state in a week's time as plastic surgeons and computer chip makers would have to shut down their businesses and move to saner states.

Heard a poll question yesterday: What works better - Reaganomics or Obamanomics? That's gotta be a trick question; every one already knows Obamanomics, like its namesake, doesn't work!

On the ongoing battle with online hotel room sales: It's getting nanny-nanny-pooh-pooh. If the Expedia genre buys a room and pays the occupancy tax on that price (this is what I assume based on what I hear), then they own it for that price. To add additional tax on resell would make the ultimate consumer being taxed on taxes. What is the difference in my buying a football/concert ticket from a venue, then realizing closer to the event, there are other people who will pay me more if I'd sell my ticket to them instead of using it? Do I collect additional taxes and venue fees and pay those to the original vendor? Would you? More importantly, it that a reasonable demand on such a transaction? There are certainly many websites that offer scalping services.

L-E headline: "Texas drought could threaten endangered species " -- Don't tell the EPA or Congress! One or both will publish a new law/regulation banning any further droughts and make us pay fines if there is another one!

Online headline: "Can Hollywood Get Obama Re-Elected?" -- Not with a working title of "An Inconvenient Untruth - A Hock-umentary".

Online headline: "Obama's Uncle Arrested On Drunken Driving Charge" -- This is obviously a family problem; potUS O'Blather spends like a drunken sailor, and his uncle drives like one.

Watched a CNN video of a nanny of Gaddaffi's grandchildren who was tortured by the mother for the nanny not administering corporal punishment to a baby who would not stop crying. CNN poured it on thick about this being the legacy of the Gaddaffi realm. Excuse me...but isn't this the same CNN outfit that refused to report the heinous Saddam Hussein tortures because CNN execs didn't want to lose their status on Hussein's party guest list?

Online quote service: "The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand." - Vince Lombardi " -- Only a few successful athletes or coaches will not recognize this message. Unfortunately, it is a strange message to those leading our academic aspects of education.

As long as the liberal media is concerned about Gov Rick Perry's "smartness", I think every member of the DIM&DUMBERat Congressional force needs to stand up and identify whether they were ranked 1st in their high school or college class. In addition, if a media member wants to write about a politician's college transcript, then the media member should publish his/her transcript along side the politicians.

Update on BCer Sam Rawls:
Sunday Evening
I'm not sure if prayers work better on Sunday or we just got a group prayer power surge today but it was a very good day. Sam was taken off one of the blood pressure drugs that is the most dangerous to stay on too long. Very good news indeed and all of his vital signs are stable and improving without it so even better news. If we can keep this trend up for another couple of days we can try to wake him up again but his color is better and Mom is very encouraged today. Most of his regular doctors were off for the weekend but their partners were just as good so Mom is looking forward to talking to his regular doctors tomorrow morning. Been a great day but a long one as well so I will do another update in the morning.

Online headline/story: "Justin Bieber's 'U Smile' Wins Best Male Video -- MTV VMAs 2011 * Justin beats out Cee Lo Green's 'F--- You,' Eminim and Rihanna's 'Love the Way You Lie,' Bruno Mars' 'Grenade'..." -- And it's a good thing! No self respecting newspaper, TV news, or magazine would print/speak the title of the othe nominees.
---
Associated with above headline: "Britney Wins Michael Jackson Award" -- What was this one for...former entertainers who are no longer bookable?

From L-E story: "A huge upsurge in Hispanic population growth helped net Georgia the extra congressional seat, but many of them are not eligible to vote and feel their voices were not heard in the redistricting process. This rankles Hispanic voting rights advocates." -- Rankles advocates of Hispanic voting rights? How can this matter to the 'rankle' of American citizens who legally live here and get their vote via provisions of our Constitution?

The Little League World Series...California wins 2-1 over Japan with the bases loaded and 2 outs in the bottom of the sixth. Brent Musburger said 'What a game. You couldn't have asked for more." WRONG! I would have asked for ABC to get Brent Musburger out of the announcer's box, and it would have been a much better game. Musburger considers it all about him.

One thing Hurricane Irene is revealing is the obvious political graft/idiocy of cities with low or island areas. Who, without some sort of favor, would grant a permit to build a basement under a house on such property?
---
Leonard Steinhorn, an American University communication professor said it was 'undignified' for potUS O'Blather to have to provide a birth certificate, and for voters to have to provide identification at the polls. Why are colleges allowed to hire professors who have no knowledge of our Constitution and it's specified requirements of holding/running for a political office or becoming a voter?

There's a birth control company's TV ad saying its product "does not protect against HIV or other STDs". How irresponsible is it for that company to cavalierly group HIV as just another STD?

L-E's "Thought for Today": “The man who can speak acceptably is usually given credit for an ability out of all proportion to what he really possesses.” — Lowell Thomas, broadcaster and world traveller (Born 1892, died this date in 1981). " -- Wow! Lowell Thomas was a real prophet. He saw the coming of "the one" well before "the one" was probably born. Bet potUS O'Blather has a copy of this quote taped to the mirror where he shaves each day.

It's an absolute shame that a business consultant for the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center lives in Alabama. Looking at the recent housing market figures, one can surmise that both of out tax assessing authorities, 'the city' and the MCSD, are in for some more belt tightening.

BCer medical updates:
Sam Rawls -
Friday Evening
Well folks it was a frustrating day today. Before anyone gets too excited there was not a lot of bad news. Sam is still in the 50/50 club but last night he didn't do as well as we would have hoped. By that I mean he had a few minor setbacks and it took his wonderful team of doctors and nurses all day to get him back to where he was yesterday afternoon. Now that we are back to good readings on all of his monitors this day was just what the doctors told us to expect earlier this week. Peaks and valleys until he gets strong enough to help himself get better. He probably won't be awake at all this weekend but is resting comfortably and we hope for some signs of improvement this weekend. I continue to read your notes to Mom, and we print them so that she can read them to Dad. Mom is hanging in there but she did get a little discouraged this morning. We are trying to keep her spirits up and make sure that she eats a little and gets some rest. That is not as easy as it may sound. Again thank you all for your thought and prayers as they mean the world to all of us especially Mom. I won't bore you with medical details today because as the doctor told us this morning it's like a baseball player with a black eye. He can still play with it and we'll throw a steak on it later. Hope you understand that better than I did. I think it means don't get bogged down with the details. INCH BY INCH we are going to get Dad better. Hopefully a good update tomorrow.
Brother Rosenberg - Colleen says he's taken the characteristics of a 'wounded' grouchy grizzly bear that he resembles in real life,(but we know what a soft touch he is under that exterior. He's in 647 at the Medical Center, probably til Tuesday.

Bernanke says "the Fed" still has 'tools' to boost the economy. Yeah, right...what's 'the Fed" gonna do, issue shovels and power tools with every new TARP project as an incentive to take the money; or perhaps give TARP money out and PAY banks interest on what they receive? Remember when banks gave out toasters when you opened a savings account?

If the dam is about to fail, why are we spending money planning to remove it? If the dam fails on its own, won't it create the same whitewater rapids that people are trying to spend $23 Million tax dollars to complete?

From a L-E story: The lead partner for the Mayor's previous employer said, "However, Columbus believes that the rule of law will ultimately prevail, that Expedia will be made to remit all of the monies that it has actually collected for taxes and to pay for the cost of litigation that it has visited upon the city" -- How easily Pope substitutes "Columbus" to cover his own personal interests. What costs is he talking about? The only costs 'visited on the city' are the losses of accommodation taxes, accommodation and entertainment revenues for the City's businesses, and the 'black eye' of being nationally exposed as not a good place to do business.
---
L-E headline: "Rainbow/PUSH ends boycott at Walmart * The Rev. Howell says reason for the boycott is gone" -- Gone? It was 'never there'! Time has a way of embarrassing those who's motives for such are for personal gain.
---
L-E headline: "ASSOCIATED PRESS-GFK POLLS * Analysis: Obama faces trouble with key voters" -- potUS O'Blather is the victim of the two-edged sword. In 2008, we were asked to finalize Dr. King's 'dream' that the character of a man overshadow the color of a man's skin. We did. In 2012, the same aspect will be put back to a vote, and if Dr King's 'dream' has been met, we'll find out by potUS O'Blather being defeated on the basis of his lack of character regardless of the color of his skin.
---
L-E headline: "LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES * California to face Japan for LLWS title
Championship game moved up to noon today to avoid Irene’s rain" -- Is California going to be competitive enough to play Japan using real rules of baseball? I mean, since California is so liberal, I'd think the California legislature would make laws that every batter be awarded a base each time they struck out so the players' self-esteem wouldn't be shattered.
---
How can a California jury convict (and be upheld by a California judge) a baseball player for 'juicing' himself, but a Florida jury can let a baby-killer go free because the jury isn't sure how the baby died? The fact that the baby is dead of other than natural causes didn't matter.

potUS O'Blather has declared a 'state of emergency' for Conn, VA, NC, NY, and MA overnight because of Hurricane Irene. First, unless the governors of those states asked for it, O'Blather has stepped further on 'state's rights', but I'm going to go one further and declare a 'state of emergency' for the other 45 states as well until November 2012.

Where's Davy Crockett when we need him? He patched up the Liberty Bell, but now the Washington Monument needs him.
----
I'm sure there's no correlation with the earthquake that shook Washington and the MLK statue unveiling, BUT I would think MLK would resent the stern embattled look he's been portrayed with. I can imagine him smiling at the accomplishments this nation has made since his dream, but I can also imagine him also casting that look of disgust at the black leaders who are still campaigning on 1960's issues as though no progress has been made.

When was the last time you saw competing gas stations having a 'gas war'? I can remember driving down Wynnton Rd and seeing station owners standing beneath their price signs waiting to see if another station owner lowered his gas a penny, and changing theirs to meet or beat the others. Hmmm, I guess the real question today is when was the last time we had competing independent gas stations?

L-E story: "TOKYO — Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan announced Friday he would resign after almost 15 months in office amid plunging approval ratings over his government’s handling of the tsunami disaster and nuclear crisis. " -- Hey, potUS O'Blather, man up and do the same. Japan's disasters were acts of God even, and yours are 'man made' by you and your party.

Troubling combination of L-E Business Section headlines: "Bernanke offers no new steps but leans on Congress" * "ECONOMY GREW AT SLOWER 1 PERCENT RATE THIS SPRING - Fewer exports, weak inventories lead to downward revision" * "Dow up 134 following Bernanke’s comments" -- Just confirmation that there's too much cash on the sidelines, and nowhere but the stock market to 'park it'.

Posted on CaringBridge website:

Thursday Evening
Hello All,
Update time for T. Sam:
Today was another good day as Sam has graduated to the 50/50 club. Considering that on Saturday before his surgery he was in the 5/95 club we think he has come a very long way in a very short time. The doctors came in this morning with no bad news at all and one of them even smiled. I know some of you are doctors and this guy is very very good but he doesn't smile unless he has something to smile about. We have not made a great deal of progress today but we have not had any setbacks either. At this stage no setbacks are the name of the game. Sam has had his medicines reduced throughout the day and while he has help with his breathing from the ventilator his lungs are in really good shape and he is helping the machine as much as it is helping him. The doctors have reduced the medication that is keeping him in a twilight state and as they put it they want to see who's home when he wakes up. This can take anywhere from 24 to 36 hours and so far they have not gotten a lot of response but that is to be expected and they are not concerned at this point.I'm pretty sure when he does wake up they are going to find out exactly who is home.Jacquie is reading all of your guest book messages to Sam and we have printed them for Sam to read when he is better. I want to thank all of you for your well wishes and prayers and I truly believe they are helping. Jacquie is doing well and is encouraged by the reports from the doctors. This hospital is spotless but she is snoodling around in the waiting room while we wait to go in and see Sam. Special thanks Candy W. for occupying her time for the last few days and to AJ Jain for making a special trip down to Savannah to bring her some clothes and her vitamins. All of you mean the world to Sam and Jacquie and now by extension to Janet and me. While we are not making leaps and bounds on the road to recovery someone reminded me about Dad's favorite saying. "Life by the mile is a trial but Life by the inch is a cinch" we are trying to go an inch at a time right now. God Bless All of You!

Online headline: "More Cracks Found In Washington Monument After Quake" -- Ooops, thought maybe one of the liberal DIM&DUMBERat caucus groups had taken shelter.

Online headline repeat: "More Cracks Found In Washington Monument After Quake" -- Ooops, again, thought maybe George Washington had rolled over in his grave at what's happening in his town.
---
Online headline: "Somalia Famine: African Leaders Pledge $380 Million In Aid " -- Yeah, as soon as they receive bigger amounts from the US.
---
No wonder the economy is floundering under this President and Congress. Only 8% of Congress have any kind of business/economic education, and most have PolySci/Law/Humanities degrees learned from liberal professors.
---
In 2008, candidate O'Blather criticized Bush43 as being 'unpatriotic' for adding $43 Trillion dollars to the National Debt over 8 years. Hmmm, does that make potUS O'Blather even more unpatriotic for adding another $4 Trillion in less than 2.5 years, OR does it make him very patriotic to the Muslim world?

NYC Mayor Bloomberg has approved a Mosque to be built at Ground Zero, yet has excluded all religious leaders from the invitation list to the 10 year Memorial event next month.

The federal government has just developed regulations for goat herd owners to cover goat herders they hire. Not only is this another "b-a-a-d-d-d" move by government, it's a perfect example of extreme "nannyism".

A known illegal alien just killed a 6 year old boy in a hit&run case while DUI.If Massachusetts had enforced the existing laws concerning illegal aliens, the man would have been deported years ago, and a 6 year old would be bringing joy to his parents et al.
---
Special thanks go to Richard Hyatt today for revealing the principals of Alpine Apartment Project. Numerous attempts to have ANY member of Council to do the same have been met with stonewalling and muttering. You could just feel the political vibes involved.

Talk about aging overnight...Macauley Calkin...the kid in "Home Alone" is 31 today.

I'd love to see one of the lawyers suing Expedia et al for the difference in the amount of hotel tax between purchase and resale prices swear under oath that he is suing because of his public concern for Columbus. If one does such, then ask him why he's not involved "pro bono".
---
Excuse me but the guy that got fined and put on probation for shooting a Florida Puma got a pretty raw deal. If I'd been hunting and was confronted by a cat that couldn't cuddle up in my lap, I'd figure it was a case of it or me.

L-E headline: "Less diversity in 2011 fall TV season" -- All is lost when a new TV season is first judged by its showcase of diversity rather than its quality of expression.
---
From the 'what if" department - What if schools practiced 'tough love' to get better classroom discipline and cooperation from students? What if students were not allowed to participate in sports or other extracurricular activities when their active grades were below a 'C', but could resume when the grade was pulled up? What if parents also enforced the grade attainment before allowing their children to play non-school sports et al, as well? Bet it will work if tried and enforced.
---
Did you notice how little media coverage there was on potUS O'Blather's actual entourage during his bus tour? With all the hype, there still was limited coverage of all but his speeches. The truth is coming out now that the buses didn't really go on tour. Air Force 1 plus a C-130 flew the president and the buses from city to city, and he would get on the bus only to go to the site where he was speaking, then reverse the process to travel to the next stop.
---
interesting scenario happening - Sam Wellborn has been drawn out of his DOT 3rd District and placed in Bishop's District 2. Now, is the current District 2 DOT person from Cordele being drawn out of District 2? Could all of a sudden, Columbus have 2 DOT Reps, or is this a ploy to remove Wellborn from the Board?

Online story: "CARACAS, Venezuela — President Hugo Chavez said Tuesday that Venezuela will continue to recognize Moammar Gadhafi as the leader of Libya and will refuse to recognize a rebel-led interim government." -- Wonder how fast potUS O'Blather took to get Chavez on the line to talk about getting on the same page?

Online headline: "Gap's Global Push Brings Retailer to Vietnam, Guam" -- That's only fair.... Parents should be able to buy school clothing close to where their children make them.

Why do middle-aged men and women think they have to wear spandex when riding their bicycles in public? Don't they know it's not a law to do so?

Online story: "Winehouse Family Breaks Big News * A spokesperson for Amy's family said that the toxicology test shows that the singer wasn't on any illegal drugs" -- I guess we should be happy despite her death.

Online quote: ""It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit." - Harry Truman " -- Boy, that's not a message than will see the light of day in Congress! Can you imagine a Congressman not wanting to have a photo op when he presents his earmark check to any group?
---

Maybe we're lucky potUS O'Blather has such Chicago connections. There may be a good market opportunity to un;oad those two $1.1 million dollars buses to union thugs looking for armored transportation.
---
I don't own any Berkshire Hathaway stock now, but if I did, I'd be selling it. Buffet must be getting dementia wanting to pay more in taxes. At his age, the government is going to soon be obliging him by taking about 50% from his estate, but if he wants to pay more, why not just make a donation to Congress rather than to Bill Gate's Foundation? Why, because Buffet KNOWS how quickly Congress would waste $40 Billion+ dollars!
---
Senator McCain was on Fox laughingly criticizing potUS O'Blather's "secret plans' for various economic and war situations. He even compared O;Blather's secret plans to Nixon's 'secret plan to end the Viet Nam war. Senator McCain, you're about 3 years too late for bringing up O'Blather's inexperience and inabilities. # years ago, this strategy may have kept O'Blather out of the White House.
---
The new monstrosity of a memorial to MLK cost an estimated $120 Million. Hmmm, by any wasteful standard, that's cheap for a Washington project.

Online headline/story: "Rick Perry's Education Policies Bring Mixed Results In Texas * The criticism began Thursday, when U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan unloaded on the newest GOP presidential contender, telling Bloomberg Television that he felt "very, very badly" for Texas school children. "Texas may have the lowest high school graduation rate in the country," Duncan asserted. * Texas's technical graduation rate may indeed be the nation's lowest, but that figure includes students of all ages who have not completed high school. The state's freshman completion rate is average, and Texas ranked seventh out of the 26 states that reported their four-year on-time graduation rates for 2009." -- Hatchet Job! Not one mention of how many of "student age" are illegal immigrants. Besides, how can anyone who came out of the Chicago School System be casting stones at someone with a real work and success record?

Online story: "A team of scientists believe they have uncovered the fossilized remains of the earliest life on earth. * Fossilized, single-celled organisms were discovered in Australia, and are thought to be 3.4 billion years old. * Some believe that the organisms could have also lived on Mars, " -- "Could have"? Some scientist will claim anything to get attention and a federal grant. I suppose next that the scientist will claim he has proof of either a land bridge used to connect Mars & Australia..that or either he's found proof that a single organism-sized space pod made a miniature crater when it landed.

It's time to cut South Muscogee County out of Bishop's District. It's such a bloc vote, no one of any color has much of a chance to unseat Bishop, and that means other areas of his district are not getting good representation.
---
One more time: Who knows who the principals are in Alpine Apartment Project? The City just bought a boarded up apartment building from them at over $1 Million (with intent to sell it to the Development Authority for a song), and yet no one from Council seems to know who the principals are...or at least are avoiding to answer.

Sometime between rounds of golf, potUS O'Blather held a press announcement to voice his support of the Libyan rebels. Does he think the Libyan rebels care what he thinks or not?
---
How does $33.8 Million fall through the cracks? Class action suits having that much "cy pres" reeks of impropriety on the lawyers handling the case. If I had been wronged and was part of a law suit, I would hope the lawyers could find me to give me my share. (Certainly I would follow the suit and contact the lawyers when it was decided.) You can throw in a few plaintiffs that may has passed away, moved to Timbuktu, or even took a vow of poverty and joined a monastery, but to me it looks more like some (or a lot) of plaintiffs may have been the figment of the law team.
---
L-E headline/story: "Horse racing to get a new look from Georgia lawmakers * Advocates testified before the panel Monday that proceeds could be funneled into the coffers of the state’s HOPE scholarships and prekindergarten programs, which were cut this year because of budget problems. " -- Is there no shame among advocates for gambling? What's their campaign slogan going to be, "Do it for our kids"? Advocates should at least 'man up', and pitch that it will bring profit for a few and possibly become a source for a manure industry... and right now, it smells like the manure is coming fast and furious.

An e-mail from a fellow BCer got me thinking. What will go into a potUS O'Blather Presidential Library? He taught some college courses, he was an Illinois State Senator for 6 +/- years, he actively served less than 2 years inn the US Senate where his favorite vote response was 'present', he's destroyed our economy and piled on almost irreversible debt on our grandchildren and their children, he's responsible for the largest reversal of power in a midterm elections than any president in history, and he's the first president to have this country's credit downgraded. The real question is not what he will put into such a library, but does he want any of this on permanent display for future generations to delve through?

There is a tragic online story of 4 New Jersey HS football players killed in an accident as they headed to a team gathering. There were 8 kids, kids because none were 18, in a SUV driven by a 17 year old. $ did survive. I'm not familiar with NJ law, but I am thankful that GA has a law allowing no more than 3 passengers in a vehicle driven by someone under 18. We can only speculate the distraction of 7 passengers in a vehicle driven by a 17 year old traveling in a high speed caravan of fellow teammates celebrating the last practice of summer. God be with them all.

Online headline: "Dem Lawmaker: Obama Needs To 'Fight Harder' For Black Community" -- This is what is wrong with DIM&DUMBERats! potUS O'Blather needs to 'fight harder' for all Americans, and know the difference between American citizens and illegal aliens.

Poverty is not the main issue in the education problem. A school (and political) system that promotes opportunities and possibilities and the self-esteem won from hard work instead of promoting excuses would go a long way (and much faster) to reversing the trend. Teaching that "you can" rather than "you can't" is a great attitude changer.
---
L-E headline: "Biden blames GOP for weak debt deal" -- The VP is also the President of the Senate, and the first two years of Biden presiding over a DIM&DUMBERta super-majority without making the economy better is the blame; Harry Reid not willing to read and pass the House version of a bill is to blame; potUS O'Blather neither leading or being willing to address the problem is the blame....not the GOP this time at least.

From L-E's "On today’s calendar": 'Wine Tasting Dinner at the Loft: Event starts at 7 p.m., dinner at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22. Money raised goes to Children’s HealthCare of Atlanta. $65. E-mail loftwinedinner@gmail. com or call 706-596-8141 for reservations.' -- Wine tasting for children's health? This reminded me of a favorite toast of my maternal grandfather - "I've drunk to your health with you - I've drunk to your health alone - I've drunk to your heath so many times - I've damn near ruined my own".

Well, potUS O'Blather is avoiding Washington. First a bus tour on Canadian economy boosting buses, and now encamped on exclusive Martha's Vineyard enriching the pockets of the wealthy. He feels better being away from Washington. Is it a coincidence that I, too, feel as well as think the nation is better off when he's not in Washington?

Charlie Rangel, D&D NY, was on Fox yesterday, and said it's not fair to expect spending levels to return to the levels Clinton or Bush spent. Excuse me...but it's the House where he, unfortunately, still sits, that spends the money. Wish the Fox guy had asked if Rangel would support a balanced budget or line item veto amendment.

A casualty of potUS O'Blather could be "Honest Abe" Lincoln..... Being a fellow Illinois politician, potUS O'Blather could demand that Illinois change it's state nickname to "Land of O'Blather". Think not? When you get down to it, Illinois is full of a lot more blather than honesty.

Can you believe that there are actually dog plastic surgeons? Who would put their pets through vanity surgery when there are children with cleft palates going unattended?

There's a fabulous video clip on Fox where a college student polls another student about redistribution of wealth and the student highly identifies with redistribution of wealth, but, when the student is asked if he was willing to give some of his 4.0 GPA to some other students struggling to get a 2.0, the student adamantly decries the thought because he has worked hard for what he's got. Liberalism is not dead, and it looks like another future liberal politician has been bred.

A fellow BCer (and avid Dawg) sent me pictures of the new UGA uniforms. If UGA needed to change something drastic, it would be better off changing its recruiting standards for player background checks...either that, or a new head coach.
( This picture from L-E)

From the "now we know'' department - Famous quote: "Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things." - Winston Churchill " -- I had wondered what would motivate potUS O'Blather to send back to England its gift of a bust of Sir Winston Churchill. but why would he want a constant reminder of his weaknesses staring him in the face daily?
---
Ben Bananke is taking on the responsibility of rekindling the current recession. Deciding not to raise interests rates will eventually kill much of the US cash savings. How? By holding interests rate down artificially; those with cash have no place for it to grow and be a hedge against further inflation without exposing their savings to the whims of a roller coaster stock market or the gold market. Any political restrengthening of our economy will deflate the gold and run-to-stocks.

Everybody! Call, e-mail Mike Owen to stop the next time he sees a CWW or CCG work crew of 6 or 7 standing around looking at a hole in the ground, and ask each one what is his specific work reason for being there looking at a hole in the ground dug by the 1 worker working.

From a L-E column: "Sure, poverty is one reason why an alarming number of Muscogee County schools failed to make adequate yearly progress in last month’s preliminary report. * But it’s not a good enough reason." -- Nor is it the primary reason! A good educational system goal, as well as each teacher's goal, should be to motivate and instill in each student the esteem of learning for oneself. Educational focus, and that includes the MCSD, seems to focus on excuses and sympathy by believing so many students are 'victims' rather than opportunities. Students are encouraged to sign up for free/discounted meals (that are hardly healthy); students are bused away from their neighborhoods and the ability of their parents to participate with their schools and teachers; students are lured into summer feeding programs that remove them from the care and responsibility of their parents; students are told and reminded that others have more going for them; students are 'given' grades (or have their grades enhanced by teachers) so they won't fall behind grade wise (until the student's frustration at not knowing how to learn or study catches them unprepared to handle secondary school work so they drop out); students are given HOPE Scholarship GPA's but can only do remedial classes when they do get to college (resulting in worse esteem than before). Yes, there is poverty, there will always be poverty, but there always has been and will be a way for those growing up in poverty to break the pattern, and that is for the schools system to encourage students by giving them a good educational environment that lets the students revel in their abilities to overcome all handicaps.

From L-E story: "Columbus Council has to determine whether the funding can come from a 1 percent Local Option Sales Tax that voters approved in 2008. Seventy percent of the revenue from that tax is devoted to public safety. * “With the LOST proceeds, there have been questions by some councilors as to whether these types of costs are those that should be covered by the LOST funds, or whether LOST funds are only for narrowly defined items,” Tomlinson added" -- Why is there concern over what fits the budget definition of a qualifying safety expenditure when Council has already decided parks and rec programs are for public safety?
---
Looks like Judge Pullen is getting the same treatment as Judge Turner... focusing on the negative aspect of everything, and losing all the good things in the dirt the L-E is stirring up. I do believe the Judge should not have accepted accolades for the directing of the money, but then again, our politicians in Congress try to take personal credit for giving grants with money taken from our pockets.
---
One thing that I have to think about is why is there so much money left over from not being able to contact the people who were listed as part of the law suit? Is it because the 'winners' no longer were interested in collecting their winnings, or did that many die with no next of kin still alive? Or could it be simply that ACORN was in charge of signing up people for the claim?

L-E headline: "Don’t let the brain-eating amoeba get to you - Tim Chitwood" -- Ooops, too late for Tim.

Hospitals and Doctors should have to post the discount given insurance companies when citing a procedural price. Self pay patients, and a lot of insured patients would benefit.

Online headline/story: "Gov. Rick Perry's Texas Tax System Heavily Burdens Poor Residents * While Texas is generally considered a low-tax state since it doesn't impose a personal income tax, a new analysis by the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy finds the state's tax laws actually "redistribute income away from ordinary families and towards the richest Texans." * But those families pay the same share of gasoline taxes, payroll taxes, excise taxes, property and sales taxes as the wealthy, so they end up paying the government a larger percentage of their incomes." -- Hmmm, the 'glass' isn't 'half empty"; it's "half full" of liberal BS. Every state has those payroll taxes and gasoline taxes, and those are paid to the federal government, and you know that if taxes are paid to the feds from low income families, the families are going to get a bigger refund than they paid in.
---
Online headline/story: "S&P: Local And State Credit Downgrades To Come After Budget Finalization * State and local governments are likely to face credit downgrades following a finalization of the U.S. budget, Standard and Poor's said in a report Thursday. -- Wonder if our Council & School Board are listening, because it sure looks like the S&P has been listening to Council's and the School Board's spending plans that dip into reserves.

---
Does anybody know something I don't know about who owns Alpine Apartment Project? Our Council just paid way to much for some boarded up apartments on Victory Drive, and none of our Council persons seems to know who the partners are. Had a feeling this was some sort of political promise/payback, but it seems that feeling is getting set in concrete.
---
Saw a video clip on Fox that a judge in Nevada has found ACORN guilty of voter registration fraud during the 2008 elections, but what does he do...hw=e 'fines' ACORN. ACORN ''no longer exists" in its 2008 form, and even if it did, and had funds to pay the 'fine', those funds would have already been owned by the taxpayers to begin with. What the judge needed to do was levy personal fines and jail time for every ACORN executive who was on any ACORN Federal Grant Application AND every Congressperson who intentionally voted to give ACORN any funds.

Online headline: "Prosecutors Want Second Trial for Roger Clemens" -- And I want a first trial on Barney "Bean-o" Frank!

L-E front page teaser item: "Politics UNHAPPY LIBERALS: Liberals argue that he caved on the debt ceiling. Unions are upset over his handling unemployment and labor issues. Hispanics brought immigration debate directly to his campaign doorstep. President Obama’s summer of discontent has been marked rumblings within his own Democratic base." -- Then why can't Congress get something positive done to get this country running on all 8 cylinders! When in recent year has one viewpoint of the president had such bi-partisan collaboration of conservatives and DIM&DUMBs alike?
---
L-E headline: "Phoenix faces 3rd dust storm in summer" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought maybe Algore was preaching again.

Picture in L-E: Sorta ironic that "Realtree" is printed in white because the rest of the car is camouflaged by other advertising.

---
L-E "Headlie" : "Recession is culprit in high U.S. debt" -- No, Government spending like there's no tomorrow is the culprit!
---
There are a couple of L-E stories concerning 'the lack pof training' of police officers in East Dublin, GA and Atlanta. I agree, all police officers should get the best training available for handing situations of all sorts, but there is one 'little' problem...no one trains perps how to properly act when stopped by a well trained police officer.

Looking at the MLB home run leaders, it looks like an old age question has been answered. When more home runs were being hit in the past, people wondered whether the ball was 'juiced'. Now we know it was the players who were 'juiced'.

From the "say what" department - Online story: "WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration announced on Thursday it will do a case-by-case review of deportations, allowing many undocumented immigrants without criminal records to stay in the United States indefinitely and apply for work permits" -- Since being an 'undocumented immigrant' is a crime in itself, how can any 'undocumented immigrant' (a.k.a. ILLEGAL Alien) not be a criminal?

L-E headline: "Rep. Sanford Bishop says all Fort Benning commanders looking into cutting costs" -- Representative Bishop, heal thyself..... FIRST!

L-E story: "The Loft will present the second annual Backyard Brewfest on Oct. 15, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Rankin Courtyard. The festival will feature more than 100 craft beers, live music and food. This year, the Loft is also offering a wine-tasting. Tickets can be purchased in advance at The Loft for $30 or on the day of the event for $35. --
$30/$35 dollars for a beer tasting? Sounds more like a beer guzzling. Besides, who can taste anything after 8-to-10 beers worth?
---
L-E story: "Columbus has been chosen to host the 2013 state conference of the Georgia Recreation and Park Association, the city announced Thursday. * The 2013 conference, expected to bring about 300 people to Columbus, could have over $1 million in economic impact on the city, said Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau President Peter Bowden. That would be a $3,333 impact per person. * “This group is in the highest spending category we have,” Bowden said. “These people will come in early and stay later and they’ll sleep one to a room.” -- As POTUS Ronald Reagan would have said, "Well, there you go again...". It's almost criminal, no, it should be categorized as criminal, that government people are known as "the highest spending category we have"! That's taxpayer dollars they are spending!
---
Online headline: "Los Angeles Downgraded By Standard & Poor's, City Drops Credit Rating Agency" -- How did LA avoid this so long? Oh, and I guess LA showed S&P...How can so many elected DIM&DUMBERats actually be so devoid of financial skills and business ethics?

potUS O'Blather says he's 'amazed' at how quiet factories are when he visits them...could it simply be the factories are closed because the jobs have been shipped to China?
---
After seeing the unemployment and inflation numbers, potUS O'Blather might better keep those new Million Dollar Canadian buses at the White House in case he needs a fast one-way ticket to Canada.
---
From the 'who'da thunk it" department - Online headline: "Tiger Woods Not a Lock for US Presidents Cup Team" -- 5 years ago, could you imagine Tiger Woods needing 'affirmative action' to make a golf tournament line-up?
---
An online liberal poster claims the unclaimed moneys from the State Farm ruling are given to charities by Pope, McGlamry or Judge Pullen. WRONG! This is simply money taken out of our pockets in new and higher insurance costs which were caused by this ruling, and "they" are getting credit for being 'good guys' while YOU and I actually are funding it.
---
Wonder if the Mayor needs to recuse herself from serving since he old (and hubbie's ongoing) law firm is so embroiled with cases bringing Judge Pullen to task? The L-E 'conveniently' excludes any mention of Mayor Obamalinson's previous and ongoing connection with the Expedia and State Farm rulings.
---
The bus trip is over for potUS O'Blather, but the stock market and the future of America continue the roller coaster turmoil of lack of leadership.
---
You know, there was something more comforting seeing potUS O'Blather step off the bus, than has ever been perceived watching his step off Air Force 1. Air Force 1 is for leaders; getting off a bus just suits him better.
---
From L-E's "Today in History" : "In 1951, the owner of the St. Louis Browns, Bill Veeck , sent in Eddie Gaedel, a 3-foot-7 little person, to pinch-hit in a game against Detroit. (In his only major league at-bat, Gaedel walked on four pitches and was replaced at first base by a pinch-runner.) " -- Talk about rewriting history! I hardly think a 3'7" midget would have been referred to as a "little person" in 1951. What's next for the L-E, reprinting Uncle Remus Tales in the King's English?
---
L-E headline/story: "Jon Huntsman turns to Twitter to criticize Perry * “To be clear. I believe in evolution and trust scientists on global warming. Call me crazy,” Huntsman tweeted." -- I'll go you one better Mr Huntsman, you're a 'big Twit'.
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama has sworn off special-interest money to pay for his re-election bid." -- "sworn off special-interest money"? What semantics. Every dollar received is from "special interests", just as donations to his opponents are also "special interest money", as in especially interested in getting potUS O'Blather out of Washington.
---
Looks like Judy F. Brouillette is on her local DIM&DUMBERat soap box of confusion... again. She'll rants for taxing corporations out of business until she finds out businesses have abandoned this country so they can stay in business and at least support the necessary white collar jobs that can survive the government tax attack. She needs to be branded with a CAPITAL "D" across her forehead so even moderate D&D's will be forewarned of her spewings.

Online headline: "Obama Hits New Low On Economy" -- And in honor of Elvis, potUS O'Blather responded, "Thank you, thank you very much.".
---
Online story: "Children -- particularly very young children -- who experience even a bout of poverty are less likely to graduate from high school," -- And a good reason is that schools treat them so nannyish and apologetically, the children are made to believe they are 'victims', and therefore excused from earning respect for themselves.
---
Online headline: "David Letterman Receives Death Threat" -- Ex-wives and CBS executive head the list.
---
L-E headline: "Recent rise in homicides mars mid-year crime report " -- Just goes to show that it doesn't matter how many more policemen you put on the street, no matter how many 'crime prevention programs' are initiated, that if you don't address the crime with swift and efficient justice, there is no deterrent for future nor habitual criminals. Crimes involving violence/death need to be quashed by suitable consequences.
---
Think about the above headline, "Recent rise in homicides mars mid-year crime report ". The L-E seems to be more interested in addressing the crime report than in the crimes themselves. Crimes are why we need/have a police force; crimes are why voters passed the most recent LOST. Crimes are what give circulation boosts to newspaper sales. The L-E has a need for 'crimes' more than it has a need for having the judicial system stop crimes.
---
A lib writes to the editor: "The governor and legislature have reduced the number of pre-K days by 20 for the coming school year. This puts a tremendous burden on working parents. It is especially burdensome if the working parents are teachers, as they are having to work at reduced pay. " -- Never have I considered my children a burden under any circumstance, and we obviously have a teacher (or spouse of one) who considers your children he (or his spouse) teaches "burdens". How embarrassing for the school system.
---
L-E headline: "Obama will lay out new jobs plan in September * The president will reveal his plan right after Labor Day " To coin a favorite SNL celebrity's signature line, "Well, isn't that special.". If potUS O'Blather has/had a plan, why is he not implementing it immediately? Doesn't it make sense that if he had such a plan, he could embarrass Congress to reconvene immediately and pass it today? Just more blather, and continued lack of leadership.
---
L-E headline: "President predicts economic recovery" -- Wow! potUS O'Blather really has gone out on a limb this time. I, too, can predict an economic recovery. If we're lucky, it starts in November 2012 following potUS O'Blather's replacement winning the office.
---
L-E headline: "FORMER OFFICER PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO FEDERAL BANK ROBBERY CHARGE " -- This is the type of legal maneuvers of attorneys that, according to the L-E. 'mar' the crime report. Having been caught red-handed with his hand in the proverbial cookie jar, some lawyer(s) will milk the taxpayers for personal benefit for as long as it/they can. When a culprit (and not an alleged culprit) is captured during the crime, a public defender should only be involved to protect the criminal from an excessive penalty. If the caught-red-handed criminal wants to delay the results by pleading not-guilty, then the criminal should have to pay for his/her own lawyer.

Online headline: "Standard & Poor's Slams Google For Motorola Deal " -- Now, this will get China's attention!

Online headline:"Obama Adviser: President Isn't Obsessed With Keeping Job" -- I reckon not...at the pace potUS O'Blather has been going, he could easily destroy our country and declare, "Mission Accomplished" before the end of this term.

From Hyatt's L-E column: "Wrote Lukas: “I think the subject of race in America -- including the often messy intersection of race and baseball -- is almost always more complicated than it appears on the surface, and it makes a habit of upending our assumptions. I also think race in America is an organic, evolving thing, and that our impressions of its past are almost always distorted by how we experience it in the present" -- "our impressions of its past are almost always distorted by how we experience it in the present". Oh could it be so simple, but as long as media and DIM&DUMBERats can rub the salt of the past into present and future wounds for their own benefit, the media and DIM&DUMBERats will do so.

potUS O'Blather claims his bus tour is a listening trip, but he is the one talking and chastising his audiences for not listening to him.

Have any of the American voters who voice their desire to have government take care of all their needs ever been to a socialist or communist country to actually see the living conditions of 'Joe Average'?

Did you see the convenience store video clip showing one person holding up a cashier. The perp reached into the till, but came up empty, so the cashier actually moved the till to the counter so the perp could access it easier. Looked like a lot of collusion going on.

potUS O'Blather says he'll release his jobs plan after Labor Day... yeah, right, as soon as he can find time to write one. Let's face it, if he had any clue, he'd want to push it today, right now so there'd more time to get it cranked up.
---
Online story: "Seven months after it fired 800 employees, Evergreen Solar is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy relief. The company, which has received tens of millions of dollars in grants and incentives from the state of Massachusetts, will also face calls to return at least some of that money. * Along the way, it has received $58 million in subsidies and tax breaks from Massachusetts" over the past 3 years -- So much for government backing 'green manufacturing' with tax dollars.
---
Massachusetts also is losing another 900 jobs because Boston Scientic is closing its manufacturing facility and moving such jobs to China BECAUSE of HELL-thScare.
---
The potUS O'Blather road trip with its stream of black buses and SUVs moving across the midwestern states must resemble a biblical type swarm of locusts sucking the life out of everything in its path.

Looks like there will be another presidential World Apology tour in the Spring of 2013, only this time it will be a new president going back to the countries on the first tour, and asking for forgiveness of potUS O'Blather's term of office.

potUS O'Blather says he can't be responsible for the economic effects of the Japanese earthquake because it was an act of God. Now he admits God exists? Have you seen him ever say a catastrophe was a random act of Allah? And what about his atheist friends, how does he explain the earthquake to them. Nice try, potUS O'Blather, but this pig, with or without lipstick, ain't gonna fly either.

Phenix City looks like it is pulling up its "welcome mat". Raising the sales tax to almost 9%, adding 2% more to its 'lodging tax', and adding 1.5% to rental property, all in a matter of weeks doesn't bode well for Phenix City's allure of low cost housing and property tax.

You know government is out of control when different aspects (such as city and school systems) start bickering about how big a slice of the pie the other is getting.

Think about this: The MCSD has a bigger budget that the Columbus Consolidated Government, and the MCSD's revenues are ALL tax revenues.
---
L-E headline: "Panetta: Bigger defense cuts would ‘weaken’ U.S. " -- Then lets make the cuts in government programming cuts...simple enough. After all, as weak as the World perceives potUS O'Blather, we're gonna need a strong military.
---
You know, if potUS O'Blather was really sincere about doing a listening bus tour, he'd have planned it to go along the US-Mexican border.

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

Watching a video report from the taxpayer paid bus tour. potUS O'Blather once again chastised the Republicans in Congress 'for playing games', yet one day out, potUS O'Blather was bowling (well, if you can call it bowling when your score is actually lower than your popularity poll numbers).
---
How much 'of our pain' does potUS O'Blather actually feel when he spends $2 more million buying special buses for his tour with tax dollars? A more important question is what he's going to do with them after the tour, and an even more important question is why the buses were painted black rather than with a paint job similar to Air Force 1?
---
I'm still trying to picture potUS O'Blather riding on a bus. As far as I've been able to determine, potUS O'Blather's only close encounter with buses was when he was throwing someone under one.
---
Yesterday, our business received an unsolicited 'robo call' telling us we could receive an elite federal business loan of up to $250K with no collateral. All I could think of was that Congressman Bean-o Frank (and maybe Sanford Bishop) had dreamed up a new way to throw more money out the door. When will this irresponsible federal nannyism cease!

WTVM9 headline: "Convicted child molester goes 8 years without serving time" -- Not a great day for our court system.

Another BSNBC show host is saying that the conservative right is anti-O'Blather because he's black and the conservative movement is racist. How do these libs look at themselves in the mirror without be repulsed by what they see. If there is any 'black reason' for despising the O'Blather policies, it's because the policies have blackened the future of our grandchildren and country as a whole.
---
Now some CNN talk show host is recommending 'we' start a war to spark the economy. Wait a minute, didn't Dustin Hoffman make a movie about doing just such..."Wag the Dog"?

Why is it that GNN news has labeled the GA redistricting 'politically charged'? Is it because for the first time that a Republican majority is going to draw the lines? Does not GNN remember the 2000 redistricting drawn by the DUMB&DUMBERats that basically tried to draw in 3 'super majority' minority districts that a court had to actually throw out? The last time such 'districts' were drawn, the Indians were isolated to reservations, and the DIM&DUMBERats wanted to do the same.

Quick - did you just notice a change in how I address Democrats?

From the 'only in California department' - California is discussing making 'fitted sheets' mandatory. Is this some sort of joke stemming from Nancy Pelosi having spent a night in a hotel that wasn't a Holiday Inn Express?

Online story: "In little Cannon Falls, Minn., Obama told audience members hard hit by the difficult economy, "As frustrated as you are about politics, don't buy into this notion that somehow government is what's holding us back." * He said, "When you go to the National Parks and those folks in the hats, that's government." -- Very true...BUT, potUS O'Blather did not delve into how many 'government hats' will be seen in our National Parks, nor how much more in salary and benefits those 'hats' are paid from our tax dollars.
---
On his bus tour, potUS O'Blather ran into the 2011 version of "Joe the Plumber" over the issue of Biden calling the TEA Party "Terrorists", and O'Blather said: “Now, in fairness, since I’ve been called a socialist who wasn’t born in this country, who is destroying America and taking away its freedoms because I passed a health care bill, I’m all for lowering the rhetoric," Obama said." -- Well, potUS O'Blather, it's nice to hear you acknowledge the truth.

Online headline: "Joe Biden To Praise Debt Deal On China Trip" -- How do you write "ROFLMAO" in Chinese? What China wants to hear, to know, is not whether the US can pay its interest payments, but that the US can pay back the loan principle...

L-E "headlie": "Man charged with stealing copper from school district * First arrest attributed to city’s Copper Task Force reward program" -- You really cannot attribute the "Copper Task Force reward program" to catching McMillan. After all, the MCSD reported that he be watched out for as well as what he would be trying to convert to cash. My question is if the MCSD knew about the crime before it was reported, why didn't the MCSD arrest McMillan at the time of the theft? Isn't that why the MCSD has a full time security force?

Aren't we proud of Mark LeGree? Of course, when I use "we" in this case, I mean the other members of First Baptist Church of Columbus where Mark was baptized and served in the youth program.

A lib L-E "soundoff": "Not again, please * Look out, America. Two Bushes from Texas have ruined our country. Now another Texan wants to run our country — or is it ruin it further? Nanct Peolosi has made Senator Reid look like an amateur with her appointment of SC Rep James Clyburn, D&D to the Committee of 12 looking for budget cuts. In the past 6 years, Clyburn has arranged for nearly $200,000,000.00 in 'earmarks' with over $6 Million of those dollars going to friends and family. You know, this sorta makes our Sanford Bishop, D&D 2nd District of GA, look even more pettier than he is.

How can potUS O'Blather even try to say the markets are in recovery mode? The "Foreclose Section" of the L-E is a page more this week than usual.

Monday, August 15, 2011

A C-SPAN caller, an avowed potUS O'Blather supporter, chastised O'Blather for not calling Republicans to task by having televised public debates and meetings so the people could see what was going on. Huh? That's exactly what voters want, and exactly what potUS O'Blather said he was going to do if elected; to bring more transparency to the government/political process. Well, guess what, potUS O'Blather hasn't kept a campaign promise yet, why do his supporters 'feel' he'll start to keep one now?

Did you see the trophy presentation following the PGA Championship? The executive force from the PGA office didn't look like any of them had ever walked 18 holes before, and I'm not sure a golf cart has been made that could carry any 2 of them around for 18 holes.

Don't be surprised when the 2012 series of money is printed red versus green, because red is the only color ink left in Washington.

From L-E story: "All the dorms are full, with about 150 new Columbus State University students being bunked temporarily at the Holiday Inn-Airport North." -- Can you imagine what the damages will amount to when the students leave?

Dr Mescon is the second Dr Brooke. What CSU is now is totally attributable to Dr Frank Brown who followed Dr Brooke. Hopefully, there's a new Dr Brown who will replace Mescon before 'growth' gets out of hand. Wonder how many remedial students are taking courses at Columbus Tech this semester?
---
L-E "soundoff" : "Keep the tax freeze for the property, go up on the sales tax, and tax the people who work in Columbus and live out of state. " -- Obviously a 'progressive' DUMB&DUMBERat. The tax freeze benefits everyone who buys a home here in some capacity, but the sales tax rate has risen to the point that if you go out to eat, you are taxed enough to add some government employee onto your food costs.
---
Another liberal "soundoff": "Why does the tea party think that the way to take back the country is on the backs of the elderly and the poor?" -- Has this idiot ever even contemplated how bad it is for the elderly and poor in more established socialist/communist countries that have a few more years of O'Blather type leadership?
---
L-E headline: "Obama begins political counteroffensive" -- Proof positive potUS O'Blather is starting his 2012 campaign. Now he'll probably start saying we have to re-elect him because he 'feels' he's the only one who can clean up the mess he's created.

L-E headline: "Prolific pigeons keep coming back " Ooops, my bad. Thought the Council members were being 'graded' by the Mayor.

What do educators (snicker) expect from students they categorize as "poverty" stricken. The education system 'gives' poverty students 'free rides to school', "free" or reduced cost year around meals, social promotions/diplomas, and a GPA that qualifies them for HOPE scholarships, then doesn't 'get it' when the CRCT's are shocking. What does the education system really expect its practices to accomplish? When students are "GIVEN" 'self-esteem', the results are exactly what is happening.
---
Finally, an explanation of why BRAC has only produced 50+/- students of the 4,000 the MCSD was expecting. Word today is 6,000 less families are being assigned here than initially projected. An interesting survey would be whether the 6,000 families requested another base once they heard of the CRCT scores in the schools their children would be exposed to.
---
L-E headline: "ALABAMA FOOTBALL * 1961 defense stakes claim as best ever * Team allowed just 2.2 points per game" -- Yeah yeah, but that was before the soccer kickers came into play and started putting points the board fro 50 yards out.

From the "only in California" department - Online story: "SAN FRANCISCO -- A decision by San Francisco Bay Area transit officials to cut off cell phone service at some of its stations to thwart a planned protest drew angry response Saturday from one transit board member who said she was shocked that officials acted as "this type of censor." -- Later this year, San Franciscans will vote on 'illegalizing' circumcisions under the age of 18. And you are surprised that Jerry Brown is Gov again, and California is bankrupt fiscally (as well as morally), and that Nancy Pelosi is considered California's 'gift' to America?
---
Online headline: "At Least 3 Dead From Horrifying Stage Collapse At State Fair" Ooops, my bad; thought the debate had knocked a few Republicans out of consideration.
---
Online headline: "Obama Drilling Rules Thrown Out By Federal Judge " -- Poor potUS O'Blather.... this hasn't been a very good month for him; his vacation home at Martha's Vineyard had a fire, Geithner is not voluntarily stepping down, a judge has ruled in favor of "big oil", it's been revealed Apple has more cash than the US, and a DUMB&DUMBERat judge ruled for the people of America against his "HELL-thScare" bull..er, bill.
---
Online headline: "July Retail Sales Jump, But Is August Setting Up for a Stumble?" -- Of course, the missing data is that retail sales were up as retailers ran more pre-school clearance sales to generate much needed cash. What's missing is how much decline in inventory there is.
---
Here's a random thought: Just how good is then best healthcare in the world if only a few can actually afford it? This is not so much a rhetorical question as it is a finger pointed at the insurance and hospital industry for removing the connection of value of goods offered to the average American citizen. The average American is not included in determining how much a simple, much less an emergency operation will cost.
---
WTVM9 headline/story: "911 system update allows text messages * The Federal Communications Commission is working on making it so you can text for help." -- Huh! Think about this from a practical and cost consideration: What's more efficient: Punching in '911' and saying "Help!", OR..... going to your contact list, picking out "911" and typing in "Help... my location is blah blah blah blah, and my problem is blah blah blah"? And what if the emergency 'need' is that Joey Bananas broke both your thumbs... you don't need thumbs for dialing in "911" , but you do to type "911" in. This is just another way the government has researched another way to spend our money.
---
L-E headline/story: "Poverty, unrealistic expectations catch up with Muscogee County schools * At Monday night’s school board work session, Superintendent Susan Andrews argued that it’s unfair to compare Muscogee County schools to counties like Forsyth. *
The reason? Eighteen percent of Forsyth students get free or reduced lunches, compared to 61 percent in Muscogee County. In other words, more children are living in poverty in Columbus than in Cumming. * The free or reduced lunch program is a pretty good way to distinguish between the haves and the have-nots." -- This is a cop out! Andrews is sounding more like potUS O'Blather and his 'it's someone else's fault' mantra. Prove we have more poverty (my children were asked if they wanted ''free or reduced food at CHS", and if they had said yes, they would have received it because there is no check on whether our family was in any financial need. The main problem all our children have at school is that the policy of the administration is to look for and accept excuses that 'explain things' rather than stand firm on teaching children that they can overcome adversities in life by applying themselves to the task at hand.

I really nearly got mad yesterday. I was pulling into Pat-a-cakes to pick up a couple of cakes (duh), and politely allowed a car with a handicap hanger get into the parking lot first. There were 2 parking spaces open. 1 was a handicap spot and the other wasn't. he chose to park in the non-handicap slot. I think we should be able to key/flatten tires/make citizen arrests when a car with a handicap tag parks in a non-handicap slot! I think it ought to be justifiable homicide, too, if you are a witness to the act!
---
You know, I do not recall any excuses about poverty when the 2009-2010 CRCT scores were announced.......
---
The Moseley case in the L-E...unreal. What adds to the disbelief is the attorney involved. From the L-E: ")Attorney Mark) Shelnutt, for his part, said he told Moseley to lie low the past several years. He said he acted in the best interests of his client and could have been disbarred had he solicited for a swifter incarceration." -- He's been worried about being disbarred? Isn't this the same lawyer who admits it was his business practice not to give out 'cash receipts' when drug clients paid him? Gimme a break!
---
There is intense value in giving some one a hand up, or giving one an opportunity, or giving some one recognition for a job well done, or giving 'Thanks' to the Lord for your blessings and challenges. None of these scenarios are involved in any of the government 'giving' programs.
---
L-E headline: "Tough for gay members to return to full military" -- Let's face it...reality rules. Does any one want to really practice homosexual freedoms when the men on either side of you are straight, armed, and well tratned in shooting skills? Some times, it more prudent not to bring some aspects of your personal life to work.
---
Dennis Rodman probably does deserve a place in the a Basketball Hall of Fame, BUT I'm not so sure he'd been better qualified to be in the WNBA one.

Online headline: "Obama Bus Tour: President Expects To Get Earful On Midwest Trip" -- Unfortunately, what potUS O'Blather needs is a couple of swift kicks further south.
---
We're going to miss Judge Pullen; you can tell by the smiles on defense attorneys' faces.
---
L-E headline: "GEORGIA REDISTRICTING * Democrats vow to oppose new maps" -- And what's new? DUMB&DUMBERats are going to oppose anything that's really 'progressive' and geared to making the future better. Oh, and since this is the first redistricting EVER drawn by a Republican majority, ask yourselves, have the D&D's ever protested any districting they offered?
---
potUS O'Blather rebuked the Republicans as now is not the time to play games... Now, does that include his golf and basketball games?
---
Sounds like potUS O'Blather's strategy for 2012 will be 'to elect' him rather than re-elect him. Sounds like he's going to claim he was out of town so often, that you can't blame him for what those Washington Insiders did while he was golfing and campaign fund raising.
---
If potUS O'Blather is so intent on raising more tax revenue, let him rescind the 501 (c) 3 status of MovingOn.org so the George Soros Billionaire's Club cannot deduct their political donations from their revenue.
---
Just a thought, but why are local non-profits, even churches, totally exempt from property taxes? They still in need/recieve of the services of the police/fire/and road departments, plus they don't get utilities for free.
---
Labor saving devices are wonderful, but only if they allow you to reduce your labor force. Remember driving by a Water Works repair crew and seeing 5 or 6 people there, one working and the others leaning on their particular tool? Well Wednesday as I was leaving downtown, a CWW crew was digging up a spot at 2nd Ave/13th St with a labor saving device, and, you guessed it there were 5 others standing around watching, but because a labor saving device was digging up the pavement, they didn't need shovels, so they were standing there leaning on nothing.
---
Well, since Algore has reappeared as a foul-mouthed flame-throwing dragon, I got to wondering where Jesse Jackson has been hiding? We know where Al Sharpton is (guest hosting a liberal news show) and since the show has no real audience, and since Fox isn't covering his rantings, no harm is being done, but even the liberals must be sitting on Jesse Jackson to keep him out of circulation.
---
Now I'm getting concerned...real concerned. The recent purchase approved by Council seems to have had the really valuable portion of the property held out of the sale of the Alpine Apartment Project, LLC deal. On top of that, I asked two Councilors to provide the names of the principals of Alpine, and neither has responded. Looks more and more like some political payoff, like buying the Liberty Apartment complex in the recent past.
---
Medical savings won't ever happen until the patient is involved in the relationship with his/her doctor and hospital. Require all medical businesses to post single price points for their services and procedures with no discount structures. That way, patients can determine whether to pay the same price as insurance companies, and insurance companies cannot 'scare' customers with the exorbitant pre-discount prices for medical services. Oh, yeah, make it so that hospitals and doctors get paid directly from thgeir patients, and insurance companies have to reimburse the patients within a short and certain time frame.
---
Texas A&M in the SEC? Most Texas teams shoul;d be considered, but Aggies....no way!
---
The rise in prices of gold, silver, and other valuable metals reflects nothing but inflation which the potUS O'Blather 'spin team' denies is occurring.
---
L-E story: "DETROIT — Honda Motor Co. plans to build an $800 million factory in Mexico to make small cars for customers in North America, the company said Friday. " -- First, please note this is a story out of Detroit, not Japan, then add up the facts that Honda is opting to build outside of the US to protect its investments in manufacturing from HELL-thScare.
---
L-E story: "NEW YORK — Alec Baldwin says he’s thinking of running for mayor of New York, but not until he learns more about the job. " -- Gimme a break! Just because he played one on TV or in the movies is not OJT. besides, who will he 'learn' from...Al Franken...another joke?

Friday, August 12, 2011

Online headline: "U.S. Military's Hypersonic Glider Launched, Lost " -- How appropriate this has happened under potUS O'Blather's command.
---
potUS O'Blather says there's gridlock in Washington...yes, potUS, there is. There was gridlock when you had a super majority in both Houses and you blocked out Republican input, you had gridlock when there is a split in the Houses. A thinking person can see the problem...it's you potUS O'Blather, and you team can not 'spin' another answer.
---
Now that Dr Mescon's 'pie-in-the-sky' projections of having 10,000 students on campus this year are obviously not going to happen, when will the other shoe fall showing how he's already committed/spent the 'student fees' that aren't going to happen?
---
Wednesday night, potUS O'Blather celebrated Ramadan in the White House. He even elevated it to an American event due to our religious diversity. Huh? Isn't this the same guy who stopped the White House observance of the National Day of Prayer?
---
Milton McGregor got no guilty verdicts...wonder what the odds were on that?
---
Didn't watch much of the Republican dog & pony show last night, but what I watched was on questioner's only mission was to find one of the candidates who would say they could raise taxes if there was enough spending cuts in addition. Huh? If there are enough spending cuts, there could be a tax reduction.
---
Whatever I thought good about Tim Pawlenty dissipated last night. Looking forward to Texas Gov Rick Perry jumpoing into the field.
---
L-E headline/story: "New Smiths Station High School ready to open * The main building is 265,000 square feet. The cost of the project including tennis courts and a competitive soccer field as well as practice fields for baseball and softball is $32 million. * (Lee County Superintendent Stephen) Nowlin said the school will be able to accommodate some 1,600 students. -- Hmmm, striking similarities between the Smith High and Carver High in Columbus...until you get to the bottom line. Smith - $32 Million; Carver - $45 Million. Is there something we don't know about?
---
L-E headline: "SPECIAL PROSECUTOR ASSIGNED TO INVESTIGATE LOCAL JUDGES" -- Hmmm. with 2 being so relatively new among the 6, and 1 sitting as the chair of the JQC, the focus is narrowed down to 3...interesting to say the least.
---
About the 'missing' child and the busing mix up... Was there not a head count on the school bus, and how did the child get onto another bus without raising concern? Oh, one other question... why is the child's name used in the story..doesn't that invade his and his family's privacy?
---
Hmmm, 400+ new BRAC students on Ft Benning; a couple of hundred new BRAC students in Phenix City; miscellaneous BRAC students in private schools; and 54 new BRAC students in the MCSD? While the total doesn't come close to the 4,000 projected, what does total up is the total lack of credibility the MCSD emits after the CRCTs were released and new BRAC parents saw their choices.
---
The City isn't hampered by revenue income, but by revenue outgo. How many millions have been spent on our traffic controls that even on its best day cannot control a smooth flow in any direction, and those ubiquitous walk/don't walk sentinels that do not even come close to promoting a common sense solution to simply crossing the street?
---
Liberal "soundoff": "And still paying dearly No, this country is in trouble because George W. Bush started two wars using a credit card." -- WRONG! As I recall, Islamic fanatics flew planes into the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and another was bravely diverted to an Pennsylvania countryside...that "started" 'the war'; POTUS Bush43 could not even retaliate immediately because Clinton had downsized the military in number and capability, and it was the liberals in Congress and the Media that hampered the ability of our military and Bush43 (and his dad before him) to annihilate the mid-east despots.
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — The financially strapped U.S. Postal Service is considering cutting as many as 120,000 jobs. " -- Hope the USPS doesn't notify them by mail or they'll be on the payroll until forever. Imagine, dismissing 120,000 workers and still not being efficient. Doesn't it make you wonder exactly how many employees are on payroll at the USPS?
---
Did 'google' the above, and found it interesting that the USPS has more full time employees that the US Army. Next thought I wanna find out about is whether the postal workers have as many guns.
---
Newt Gingrich did nail two points last night: Questioners should stop the 'gotcha" questions, and 533 Congressperson sitting on the sidelines while 12 decide on spending cuts is ludicrous.
---
L-E headline: "Obama: There is something wrong with country’s politics " -- Understatement of the Century and we've barely started it. Would someone send a autographed copy of the lyrics of "Man inn the Mirror" to potUS O'Blather immediately..if not sooner! You know, just his uttering this assessment of the situation just highlights his lack of a grasp on his job. Wouldn't you liked to have seen the expression on Johnny Carson's face if he quoted pot O'Blather's statement in one of Carson's monologues?
---
L-E headline: "U.K. will look to U.S. for anti-gang ideas " -- And we wondered where ACORN could get hired.
---
Where was this Richard Hyatt when he was actually on the payroll at the L-E? Guess it's easier to write about the real world when no associate is looking over your shoulder as you opinionate... Any way, it is good to see sacred cows tipped.
---
For those interested, Pacelli graduate, Seattle Seahawk, and First Baptist Church member Mark "Dre" Legree opened up the NFL preseason with a victory over San Diego. You think someone at the L-E would have been interested, too.
---
Interesting analagy...our 'president' plans a bus ride while America holds on during a Wall Street roller coaster ride, and Congress vacations.
---
L-E headline: "NY coaster shuts down again" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought this was a report on the stock market.

L-E "headlie'': Wisconsin Democrats say wins show voters’ anger at governor, GOP" -- Excuse me... since the DUMB&DUMBERats picked out 6 Wisconsin Senate seats they thought were the most vulnerable, and lost 4 of the 6, it seems to me that a D&D celebration just demonstrates how out of touch they are.
---
Senators Kerry, Baucus and Murray? These are Harry Reid's choices for the Super Committee that will oversee Congressional spending/budget cuts? All this does is highlight Senator Reid's lack of willingness to try to solve the current and future financial problems for the American people.
---
Liberals are now having 'voter regret' because potUS O'Blather hasn't even "run a 'candy store'". Seems to me the potUS O'Blather got to run the Congressional 'candy store' for 2.5 years, and because he's such an "I" person, when he added "I" to 'run', it became "ruIn" the 'candy store'
---
potUS O'Blather made another gaffe in chastising the S&P for its opinion. The real question is why the S&P or the American people should respect any opinion on the economy coming from any government agency.
---
Any poll showing/stating 'most Americans support more taxes on corporations and 'the wealthy' should have an asterisk denoting that the poll includes mostly Americans who get more income tax refunds than they paid in during the year, and their opinion is actually a way to protect their income source.
---
From the 'I just got to get this off my chest' department -
If I hear another ESPN/ABC broadcaster in the Little League baseball series claim that a catcher can influence an umpire's call by "framing the pitch", I will scream. I umpired LL and some babe Ruth games for 30 years, and not once did where a catcher caught a pitch influence one decision of whether I called it a ball or strike. Umpires decide on the status of the pitch where it crosses (or not) the plate, long before the catcher makes a play on it. Anybody that tries to tell you that "framing a pitch" matters just has no clue about what they are talking about.
---
"Earth Sense"? Why should GA Power be allowed to run ads (padded expenses) about how eager they are to help you save energy and lower your current bill? You know GA Power will turn that into a plea to the PSC next year to ask for a rate hike based on the fact you used less wattage this year, and next year, you'll pay a lot more using the same wattage you used this year while you suffered through the summer heat. God forbid if you use a few more watts next year at the new higher rates!
---
So potUS O'Blather is going on a bus tour of a couple of DUMB&DUMBERat states while the rest of us take a Wall Street roller coaster ride. What's the bus gonna be called... Land Farce, Too? You have to wonder, too, who he's gonna send to the back of the bus, and who he'll throw under it.
---
From a fellow BCer's post on facebook: "Does anyone know how to cancel a bid on eBay? I put in a bid for a "Mickey Mouse Outfit," and now it seems I'm only six minutes away from owning Obama's entire Cabinet."
---
Online quote service: ""If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." - John Quincy Adams " -- Unless your actions inspire others to dream more about what others can do for them, learn more how to scam government services, do more to strain the tax portion of 'working Americans', and become more dependent on government services, then you are a Community Organizer, and a leech. Sound like any people we know?
---
From a L-E story: "(DeWayne) Williams admitted in a videotaped interview that he shot the 30-year-old (Keyonna Monte) Chapple as the pair walked along Fisk Avenue around 4:40 a.m. In Columbus Recorder’s Court Wednesday, Williams pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and theft by receiving stolen property." -- This is what is makes the public scorn the legal system. A man professes his guilt, and some public defendant convinces him to change his plea so the lawyer can soak the taxpayers for more money.
---
One of the problems of the City's revenue stream is the number of properties that have tax exemptions from local property taxes. Every building structure presents a drain on City fire and police services, so why shouldn't the City have a 'fee' for all otherwise tax exempt properties? One very apparent problem is the downtown conversion from locally owned to CSU transition of many higher priced local properties.
---
L-E headline: "ATLANTA SCHOOLS * Ex-chief ‘deeply’ regrets cheating scandal" -- Yeah, now that it has been exposed, and she lost her new job in Texas.....
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — Wholesale companies added more autos, machinery and computers to their stockpiles in June, pushing inventories up for the 18th consecutive month. " -- When a recovery actually starts, you'll see inventory decreasing as demand strips on-hand goods. Why is it this administration doesn't understand basic economics? When GM was a private company, stock build up because of slower than projected sales would result in a shift lay-off or a plant closing for a 2 week 'vacation'. With the union now being a major stockholder, do you think Government Motors will initiate the same practices, or just let the union workers keep on building unneeded inventory?
---
From this day forward, Rep. Barney Frank, D&D, MA, shall be reference to as "Bean-o and Franks".

Online headline: "Obama to Demand President Quit" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought maybe Michelle Obama had seen the light and voicing her opinion on "The View".
---
Online headline addendum: "U.S. Preparing To Demand Departure Of President Bashar Assad, Say Sources " -- What is this, an August edition of an April Fool's joke news story? Perhaps if Seal Team 6 announced it was going after Assad, Assad might take it more seriously.
---
Online headline: "Wisconsin Republicans Retain Control Of State Senate" -- Reminds me a little like a fairy tale involving a huffing and puffing wolf. Republicans who built their houses with conservative bricks prevailed, and the silent majority sent a message to other liberals that their seats in Wisconsin (and most other states) are made of sticks and straw.
---
L-E story: "Columbus Councilor Mimi Woodson has proposed that the city rename Fifth Street, or at least part of it, for the Rev. J.H. Flakes Jr., longtime pastor of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church." -- I can accept the "part" part... maybe something like the "Flakes' Bloc Party"?
---
Online headline: "Apple Briefly Passes Exxon As Most Valuable U.S. Company" -- Hmmm.. maybe the mainstream media will forget "big oil" and go after ' big apple"... hmmm, that wouldn't fly because NYC liberals would call it a 'right wing conspiracy'.
---
Have you seen the video of Barney Frank on Rachel Maddow's BSNBC show? He actually 'passed gas' aloud on TV. Most intelligent outburst I've ever heard out of him.
---
Online headline: "Al Gore Explodes in Climate Tirade" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought Algore had overheated and blew up...literally.
---
In an online story, former VP Algore erupted, "In a passionate rant, Gore says his opponents are a group of people, "washing back at you the same crap over and over and over again. There's no longer a shared reality ... It's no longer acceptable in mixed company -- meaning bipartisan company -- to use the goddamn word 'climate.'"" -- If he has any credibilty left, it has to be from an element of people that can only be described as lunatics. What language spewing from a former VP, and pretender to the presidency. Excuse my verbatim reporting of his language but using asterisks as substitute letters would waterdown the effect.
---
From a yesterday L-E story that I didn't comment on: "As part of the solution for moisture problems at Fox Elementary, approval was requested to remove and replace the three energy recovery ventilators for three classroom wings at a cost of $600,000. There was no discussion and a vote will be taken next week. Funding would come from the 2003 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax." -- Proof positive that not only is :greentechnology" not always the answer, but it can also create "green problems" at great expense to eliminate after the great expense to initiate.

---
I am beginning to believe the decline in educational results is actually a government conspiracy to maintain government growth. When students leave the public school system without knowing how to take care of themselves, they become further dependent on government programs designed to keep them on government programs, and literally making them have to vote for candidates who pledge to keep those programs growing. To a liberal this sounds reasonable, because a liberal doesn't calculate that eternal growth is not possible when resources are not eternal.

It's 30 straight games for Uggla's hitting streak; all of a sudden, "uggla" is becoming 'beautiful'!

Online headline: "Penn State Coach Joe Paterno, 84, Injured at Practice" -- Somebody should remind him that padded equipment is now required since he first walked on to a football field... Any way, hope it's not serious.

There's a movement to push for computer controlled, driverless cars. Let me ask you this... do you want to be sitting in the passenger side or back seat of a car being controlled by a Microsoft Windows OS knowing that Windows' OS is going to crash?
---
Online quote service : ""The greatest results in life are usually attained by simple means and the exercise of ordinary qualities. These may for the most part be summed in these two: common-sense and perseverance." - Owen Feltham " -- Of course, if you remove 'common-sense' from the equation, you've just illustrated the definition of the Dumb&Dumberat mascot, the jackass.
---
Maybe I misjudged the idiots at MTV... "Jackass" is may actually be a documentary of teh DUMB&DUMBERats... well, it might be.
---
Online story: "The Martha's Vineyard vacation home of President Barack Obama and his family during the summers of 2009 and 2010 caught fire in the early morning hours today. * Obama is expected to vacation there once again next week," -- Can't figure out whether this was intentional or what, but we'll see when potUS O'Blather takes the air on Saturday, and mentions he has created new jobs this week for the Martha's Vinyard Fired Department and Carpenter's Union.
---
L-E headline/story: "Despite some tax concerns, Columbus Councilors approve Victory Drive land deal for $1.135 million * The 3551 Victory Drive property was appraised for sale at $1.185 million, $50,000 more than the city will pay the owner, Alpine Apartment Project LLC. On the city’s property tax information website, the property has a moratorium value of only $814,000. * Betty Middleton, the city’s chief appraiser, explained that in 2008 the state passed legislation that for three years, the assessed value would be frozen at the 2008 level. That freeze applies to assessment for taxation, not for sale, she explained" -- Based on the real estate collapse of the last 4+ years, the value today should be lower than it was 4 years ago, so why was it worth less in 2008 than it is being bought in 2011?
---
While the above is being pondered, I'd like to know who the principals are in Alpine Apartment Project. LLC... I think the principals definitely need to be disclosed to make sure no one profiting is politically connected; will Michael Eddings please come forward with the info?
---
L-E headline: "UGA economist Jeff Humphreys says odds of double-dip recession growing" -- That's new news? We knew we'd have a 'double dip economy' back in November of 2008 when Obama bin Biden were elected...two of the biggest dips ever.
---
L-E headline: "More of Adams’ players may have received funds from city’s account" -- Is there a bottom to this? How much longer can unwIsaiah Hugley plead ignorance of the Parks&Rec scandal, and still maintain a shred of competency as City Manager?
---
The "War on Terrorism" is referred too as the "Bush War"; potUS O'Blather's expansion to Afghanistan should be referred to as "bush league war:.
---
L-E headline: "With sadness and dignity, Obama honors fallen" -- Ooops, I thought potUS O'Blather had re-instated the 'medic alert' coverage to Medicaid.
---
L-E editorial statement: "However transparently its shortcomings have been used as excuse, rationalization and spin for real education problems, the No Child Left Behind law is clearly a flawed system for evaluating students and schools. It raises the bar perpetually and too fast, it sets arbitrary and unrealistic benchmarks, and there are too many circumstances it fails to take into account." -- Obviously the liberal mantra! Schools need to accelerate the educational effort to stop the ongoing 'graduation' of ill-equipped students into society. What pace is "OK" in the schools' and L-Es' eyes? Do we abandon the effort for the current students, and maybe come up with a plan to start over when a new batch of students start in a few years? Standards need to be raised immediately; after all, to use the liberals' favorite battle cry for more money, "It's for our kids".
---
L-E headline: "Boy or girl? * Simple test early in pregnancy raises ethical concerns" -- The ethical concern raised is how can the "Pro-Choice" element argue about a fetus' time line? The gender of a fetus is determined at about 5 weeks, and now man can know this a relatively short time after that. Maybe it will take the casualness out of aborting a baby when it will be now known as a boy baby or girl baby, and names can be discussed for such.
---
