Online headline/story: "Gov. Rick Perry's Texas Tax System Heavily Burdens Poor Residents * While Texas is generally considered a low-tax state since it doesn't impose a personal income tax, a new analysis by the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy finds the state's tax laws actually "redistribute income away from ordinary families and towards the richest Texans." * But those families pay the same share of gasoline taxes, payroll taxes, excise taxes, property and sales taxes as the wealthy, so they end up paying the government a larger percentage of their incomes." -- Hmmm, the 'glass' isn't 'half empty"; it's "half full" of liberal BS. Every state has those payroll taxes and gasoline taxes, and those are paid to the federal government, and you know that if taxes are paid to the feds from low income families, the families are going to get a bigger refund than they paid in.

Online headline/story: "S&P: Local And State Credit Downgrades To Come After Budget Finalization * State and local governments are likely to face credit downgrades following a finalization of the U.S. budget, Standard and Poor's said in a report Thursday. -- Wonder if our Council & School Board are listening, because it sure looks like the S&P has been listening to Council's and the School Board's spending plans that dip into reserves.

Does anybody know something I don't know about who owns Alpine Apartment Project? Our Council just paid way to much for some boarded up apartments on Victory Drive, and none of our Council persons seems to know who the partners are. Had a feeling this was some sort of political promise/payback, but it seems that feeling is getting set in concrete.

Saw a video clip on Fox that a judge in Nevada has found ACORN guilty of voter registration fraud during the 2008 elections, but what does he do...hw=e 'fines' ACORN. ACORN ''no longer exists" in its 2008 form, and even if it did, and had funds to pay the 'fine', those funds would have already been owned by the taxpayers to begin with. What the judge needed to do was levy personal fines and jail time for every ACORN executive who was on any ACORN Federal Grant Application AND every Congressperson who intentionally voted to give ACORN any funds.

Online headline: "Prosecutors Want Second Trial for Roger Clemens" -- And I want a first trial on Barney "Bean-o" Frank!

L-E front page teaser item: "Politics UNHAPPY LIBERALS: Liberals argue that he caved on the debt ceiling. Unions are upset over his handling unemployment and labor issues. Hispanics brought immigration debate directly to his campaign doorstep. President Obama’s summer of discontent has been marked rumblings within his own Democratic base." -- Then why can't Congress get something positive done to get this country running on all 8 cylinders! When in recent year has one viewpoint of the president had such bi-partisan collaboration of conservatives and DIM&DUMBs alike?

L-E headline: "Phoenix faces 3rd dust storm in summer" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought maybe Algore was preaching again.
---
Picture in L-E: Sorta ironic that "Realtree" is printed in white because the rest of the car is camouflaged by other advertising.

---
L-E "Headlie" : "Recession is culprit in high U.S. debt" -- No, Government spending like there's no tomorrow is the culprit!
---
There are a couple of L-E stories concerning 'the lack pof training' of police officers in East Dublin, GA and Atlanta. I agree, all police officers should get the best training available for handing situations of all sorts, but there is one 'little' problem...no one trains perps how to properly act when stopped by a well trained police officer.

Looking at the MLB home run leaders, it looks like an old age question has been answered. When more home runs were being hit in the past, people wondered whether the ball was 'juiced'. Now we know it was the players who were 'juiced'.

Gold is now at over $1,800.00 per ounce. It's not that gold has risen in value, it's because the dollar is being devalued as we speak.
