From the "only in California" department - Online story: "SAN FRANCISCO -- A decision by San Francisco Bay Area transit officials to cut off cell phone service at some of its stations to thwart a planned protest drew angry response Saturday from one transit board member who said she was shocked that officials acted as "this type of censor." -- Later this year, San Franciscans will vote on 'illegalizing' circumcisions under the age of 18. And you are surprised that Jerry Brown is Gov again, and California is bankrupt fiscally (as well as morally), and that Nancy Pelosi is considered California's 'gift' to America?

Online headline: "At Least 3 Dead From Horrifying Stage Collapse At State Fair" Ooops, my bad; thought the debate had knocked a few Republicans out of consideration.
---
Online headline: "Obama Drilling Rules Thrown Out By Federal Judge " -- Poor potUS O'Blather.... this hasn't been a very good month for him; his vacation home at Martha's Vineyard had a fire, Geithner is not voluntarily stepping down, a judge has ruled in favor of "big oil", it's been revealed Apple has more cash than the US, and a DUMB&DUMBERat judge ruled for the people of America against his "HELL-thScare" bull..er, bill.

Online headline: "July Retail Sales Jump, But Is August Setting Up for a Stumble?" -- Of course, the missing data is that retail sales were up as retailers ran more pre-school clearance sales to generate much needed cash. What's missing is how much decline in inventory there is.

Here's a random thought: Just how good is then best healthcare in the world if only a few can actually afford it? This is not so much a rhetorical question as it is a finger pointed at the insurance and hospital industry for removing the connection of value of goods offered to the average American citizen. The average American is not included in determining how much a simple, much less an emergency operation will cost.

WTVM9 headline/story: "911 system update allows text messages * The Federal Communications Commission is working on making it so you can text for help." -- Huh! Think about this from a practical and cost consideration: What's more efficient: Punching in '911' and saying "Help!", OR..... going to your contact list, picking out "911" and typing in "Help... my location is blah blah blah blah, and my problem is blah blah blah"? And what if the emergency 'need' is that Joey Bananas broke both your thumbs... you don't need thumbs for dialing in "911" , but you do to type "911" in. This is just another way the government has researched another way to spend our money.

L-E headline/story: "Poverty, unrealistic expectations catch up with Muscogee County schools * At Monday night’s school board work session, Superintendent Susan Andrews argued that it’s unfair to compare Muscogee County schools to counties like Forsyth. *
The reason? Eighteen percent of Forsyth students get free or reduced lunches, compared to 61 percent in Muscogee County. In other words, more children are living in poverty in Columbus than in Cumming. * The free or reduced lunch program is a pretty good way to distinguish between the haves and the have-nots." -- This is a cop out! Andrews is sounding more like potUS O'Blather and his 'it's someone else's fault' mantra. Prove we have more poverty (my children were asked if they wanted ''free or reduced food at CHS", and if they had said yes, they would have received it because there is no check on whether our family was in any financial need. The main problem all our children have at school is that the policy of the administration is to look for and accept excuses that 'explain things' rather than stand firm on teaching children that they can overcome adversities in life by applying themselves to the task at hand.

I really nearly got mad yesterday. I was pulling into Pat-a-cakes to pick up a couple of cakes (duh), and politely allowed a car with a handicap hanger get into the parking lot first. There were 2 parking spaces open. 1 was a handicap spot and the other wasn't. he chose to park in the non-handicap slot. I think we should be able to key/flatten tires/make citizen arrests when a car with a handicap tag parks in a non-handicap slot! I think it ought to be justifiable homicide, too, if you are a witness to the act!

You know, I do not recall any excuses about poverty when the 2009-2010 CRCT scores were announced.......

The Moseley case in the L-E...unreal. What adds to the disbelief is the attorney involved. From the L-E: ")Attorney Mark) Shelnutt, for his part, said he told Moseley to lie low the past several years. He said he acted in the best interests of his client and could have been disbarred had he solicited for a swifter incarceration." -- He's been worried about being disbarred? Isn't this the same lawyer who admits it was his business practice not to give out 'cash receipts' when drug clients paid him? Gimme a break!

There is intense value in giving some one a hand up, or giving one an opportunity, or giving some one recognition for a job well done, or giving 'Thanks' to the Lord for your blessings and challenges. None of these scenarios are involved in any of the government 'giving' programs.

L-E headline: "Tough for gay members to return to full military" -- Let's face it...reality rules. Does any one want to really practice homosexual freedoms when the men on either side of you are straight, armed, and well tratned in shooting skills? Some times, it more prudent not to bring some aspects of your personal life to work.

Dennis Rodman probably does deserve a place in the a Basketball Hall of Fame, BUT I'm not so sure he'd been better qualified to be in the WNBA one.
