Online headline/story: "Rick Perry's Education Policies Bring Mixed Results In Texas * The criticism began Thursday, when U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan unloaded on the newest GOP presidential contender, telling Bloomberg Television that he felt "very, very badly" for Texas school children. "Texas may have the lowest high school graduation rate in the country," Duncan asserted. * Texas's technical graduation rate may indeed be the nation's lowest, but that figure includes students of all ages who have not completed high school. The state's freshman completion rate is average, and Texas ranked seventh out of the 26 states that reported their four-year on-time graduation rates for 2009." -- Hatchet Job! Not one mention of how many of "student age" are illegal immigrants. Besides, how can anyone who came out of the Chicago School System be casting stones at someone with a real work and success record?

Online story: "A team of scientists believe they have uncovered the fossilized remains of the earliest life on earth. * Fossilized, single-celled organisms were discovered in Australia, and are thought to be 3.4 billion years old. * Some believe that the organisms could have also lived on Mars, " -- "Could have"? Some scientist will claim anything to get attention and a federal grant. I suppose next that the scientist will claim he has proof of either a land bridge used to connect Mars & Australia..that or either he's found proof that a single organism-sized space pod made a miniature crater when it landed.

It's time to cut South Muscogee County out of Bishop's District. It's such a bloc vote, no one of any color has much of a chance to unseat Bishop, and that means other areas of his district are not getting good representation.

One more time: Who knows who the principals are in Alpine Apartment Project? The City just bought a boarded up apartment building from them at over $1 Million (with intent to sell it to the Development Authority for a song), and yet no one from Council seems to know who the principals are...or at least are avoiding to answer.

Sometime between rounds of golf, potUS O'Blather held a press announcement to voice his support of the Libyan rebels. Does he think the Libyan rebels care what he thinks or not?

How does $33.8 Million fall through the cracks? Class action suits having that much "cy pres" reeks of impropriety on the lawyers handling the case. If I had been wronged and was part of a law suit, I would hope the lawyers could find me to give me my share. (Certainly I would follow the suit and contact the lawyers when it was decided.) You can throw in a few plaintiffs that may has passed away, moved to Timbuktu, or even took a vow of poverty and joined a monastery, but to me it looks more like some (or a lot) of plaintiffs may have been the figment of the law team.

L-E headline/story: "Horse racing to get a new look from Georgia lawmakers * Advocates testified before the panel Monday that proceeds could be funneled into the coffers of the state’s HOPE scholarships and prekindergarten programs, which were cut this year because of budget problems. " -- Is there no shame among advocates for gambling? What's their campaign slogan going to be, "Do it for our kids"? Advocates should at least 'man up', and pitch that it will bring profit for a few and possibly become a source for a manure industry... and right now, it smells like the manure is coming fast and furious.

An e-mail from a fellow BCer got me thinking. What will go into a potUS O'Blather Presidential Library? He taught some college courses, he was an Illinois State Senator for 6 +/- years, he actively served less than 2 years inn the US Senate where his favorite vote response was 'present', he's destroyed our economy and piled on almost irreversible debt on our grandchildren and their children, he's responsible for the largest reversal of power in a midterm elections than any president in history, and he's the first president to have this country's credit downgraded. The real question is not what he will put into such a library, but does he want any of this on permanent display for future generations to delve through?
