--- Online headline: "China's Cyber-Intrusions Of Concern, Says Hillary Clinton" -- That's nice, but it would be nicer if someone, anyone, in the DIM&DUMBERat party would be concerned about the amount of American debt that China holds the paper on. --- From a fellow BCer: How appropriate with either's attitude toward George Zimmerman. --- The latest from barackobama.com: "Michelle and I are getting ready to go on stage for the first big rally of 2012." -- From potUS Arpege's mouth...he's playing a president on TV. --- More: yhe latest from barackobama.com: "Because, as the President laid out, this election comes down to who will leave our country better and stronger four years from now. And the choice couldn't be clearer." Hey, potUS Arpege is finally seeing the light. Guess this means he's voting for Romney in November. --- L-E headline: "Because I’ve lost complete faith in them... * I’M FOR AN ELECTED SCHOOL BOARD NOW.’ " -- Be careful what you wish for, Phenix City, Columbus has one and I think most of Columbus would rather go back to an appointed school board ... and even maybe an ELECTED superintendent. --- L-E headline story: "Muscogee County School Board delays vote on hiring superintendent search firm * The three firms making presentations Saturday were BWP and Associates of Libertyville, Ill.; McPherson and Jacobson LLC of Omaha, Neb.; and RPA Inc. of Williamsport, Pa. RPA did not have a representative at the meeting but conducted a video conference. * After the presentations, Wells expressed surprise that the district didn't attract more firms. * "It's really amazing to me," he said." -- After the Ron White/dr. Crumbs debacle, it's a wonder any of the 3 firms showed up at even a tele-conference, and Wells just confirms my comments about going back to an appointed school board. --- L-E story: "MOBILE, Ala. — The failure of Alabama’s lone cruise port has left the city of Mobile with a looming problem: How to pay for a more than $20 million passenger terminal that’s now used for dances and weddings rather than tourist embarkations. * For years, parking charges and other fees paid by cruisers covered debt payments of about $2 million annually for the Alabama Cruise Terminal." -- Let's hope this is not Columbus looking back at Whitewater a few years from now, like it looks back at the $7 million spent (wasted) on gussying up Golden Park for the Olympics. Hindsight is pretty much 20/20, but the debts are still with you. --- From a fellow BCer:

I loved my coaches. They didn't necessarily create my love of the game but did encourage me to improve. Would I nominate one of them as my most important teacher? No, because they were preaching to the choir. I'd have a hard time choosing one teacher as most important in my education, but it would be from the teachers who got through my preoccupation with things I'd rather be doing, and got me to get interested in the geography of the World, the history of the World, to see how important the Pythagorean Theorem would be to me as an adult, how important it was to be able to write succinctly at moments like this. Those are my heroes... and believe me, they earned it. If you've never been, go to the Page 1 Awards Tuesday, and not only support the students and teachers nominated for their excellence, but also to renew the shaken confidence of what we hear in the newspaper about the weaknesses of the system. --- I see the L-E has run another Karl Douglass column without identifying him as a paid member of the re-elect Sanford Bishop organization. Fortunately, Karl had some pretty wise words to say about financial responsibility of our City. I would have been more impressed, though, if he had directed such advise and comments to his employer, Congressman Bishop! --- Speaking of budgetary matters and responsibility of Council, now that Council has spent $33,000.00 + on a stump grinder, how much is being budgeted towards using and maintaining such equipment. I do not see how Council can budget less than was being spent on outsourcing such service, and still get the job done. --- How does erecting a viewing platform in the middle of the Chattahoochee enhance the restoration of the original river scene? What's the difference in replacing manmade dams with a new manmade structure? How natural is a set of bleachers compared to the more realistic expectation of a dam in a river? ---
