A conservative's daily look at the news with an aspect of "Laugh-In Looks at the News" and "Johnny Carson's monologue" twisted in.

Online story: "Richard Grenell, presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney's controversial choice for national security spokesman, is leaving the campaign less than two weeks after his appointment. * Grenell drew harsh criticism from reporters during his tenure as a spokesman for the United Nations. Former Reuters reporter Irwin Arieff told HuffPost that Grenell "often lied," adding that he was the "most dishonest and deceptive press person" he'd worked with in over two decades on the job." -- Huh? How can anyone give that 'honor' ("most dishonest and deceptive press person") to anyone other than past and current presidential spokespersons but Robert Gibbs or Jay Carney?
---
Let's see, did the Romney's show more or less caring for their dog by taking the dog with them (even on the roof of their car), than the Arpege's who left their dog at the White House, and just booked him later (at our expense) on a separate jet for vacation?

Online story: "Jack Shay, 80, a well-known political figure in the small southeast Alaskan community of Ketchikan, was arrested in November after police said child pornography images were found on a computer * A former Alaska mayor who served on a school board and once received a "Citizen of the Year" award pleaded guilty on Monday to seven counts of possessing child pornography as part of a deal with prosecutors, police said." -- Republican or Democrat? There's no mention in any of the article, so my guess was DIM&DUMBERat, and when I Googled. I was right!

Online headline:"Secret Service To Undergo Ethics Training " -- Wow, if I were president, knowing politically correct Secret Service agents were assigned to me and my family would not be that reassuring. * Even worse is that I'm sure that the Secret Service agents were quite ethical in their hiring and training sessions, but the on job environment ate away at that ethic.

WTVM9 story: "In Tuesday's Columbus City Council meeting, Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson unveiled her new budget. One of the items on the list is a hot topic from last year: one-day-a-week trash pickup. * "It is simply no longer environmentally or fiscally responsible to continue the excessive service of continued twice a week garbage pickup when it only encourages or enables our citizens to not recycle," said Tomlinson of the proposal she says could save taxpayers $250,000." -- Not sure how Mayor Obamalinson is equating once-a-week trash pick up is encouraging/enabling citizens not to recycle as there is already a recycling plan in existence (other than in the Downtown/CSU River Campus area), but her financial savings argument doesn't cut it. Try as she may, with 55,000 households involved, 'saving' $250,000.00 comes to less than $5.00 annually per household ( less than $ .42; less than 1 postage stamp, per month). The City could save a lot more by sending out tax notices/forms for businesses, property taxes, and car tags via an electronic ".pdf" file to those with computers (like what business doesn't have one?).

WTVM9 headline: "Obama sees 'new day' 1 year after bin Laden raid" -- Guess I'm more of a visionary... I see not only a new day, but a new chance on November 6th to restore America's future.

How does the media give potUS Arpege any credit for his sense of humor at the White House Correspondents Dinner? He has a staff of writers making up the quips and flashing them up on his TelePrompters.
---
Very liberal Liberal's L-E "soundoff": "You’re absolutely right. America is floating in a cesspool of debt, thanks to George W. Bush. Thank you, President Obama, for trying to right the ship in spite of Republican objections." -- Even under the best of times, at best potUS Arpege debt efforts would be akin to him dropping the anchor of the Titanic to help it get to the bottom faster, but in potUS Arpege's case, he has made the anchors out of $5 Trillion dollars of gold & platinum so we'll get their even faster.

How do "Occupy Whatever" activists consider indiscriminate vandalism as a form of protected 1st Amendment rights? Worse than that is how does media sympathize with them when it's that same Amendment that gives them a livelihood?

L-E story: "WASHINGTON — More teens are smoking dope, with nearly 1 in 10 lighting up at least 20 or more times a month, according to a new survey of young people. * But past-month usage of marijuana grew from 19 percent in 2008 to 27 percent last year. Also alarming, says Pasierb, is the percentage of teens smoking pot 20 or more times a month. That rate went from 5 percent in 2008 to 9 percent last year, or about 1.5 million teens toking up that frequently" -- How coincidental the figures match the attitude of potUS Arpege's executive order to ease up on marijuana prosecution when state law's allow medicinal use. Wonder if the results will reverse themselves since potUS Arpege has reversed that edict?

So the MCSD board has called a meeting to interview superintendent research firms... perhaps the MCSD board should meet in advance and figure out what effect not supporting Dr Andrews will have on any applicants as her successor?

I can see why John Flournoy should be honored by having the I-185 gateway entrance to Ft Benning named in his honor, but why would anyone feel honored at having the I-185/J R Allen Parkway exchange mess named for them?

Had something very unusual happen the other day. Before going to the grocery store, I stopped and topped off my gas tank. It took a little over 10 gallons and the bill was $37.29. Then I went to the grocery store to fill-in basics, and my bill was $37.29. Then I had a flash back to my youth when $37.29 worth of gas was what I would normally spend in a month (6 tanks full) , and spending $37.29 at a grocery store would have caused every bag boy there to line up to carry my groceries to my car. Now $37.29 of gas will get me about town for a couple of days, and $37.29 worth of basic foods will last us a bout 2 days.

The L-E story on $100,000.00 being donated for MCSD classrooms is good, but in perspective is about $3.13 per child in the MCSD system. One of the projects funded was for iPods. On the iPods his class received, (the teacher) said, there are apps for bullying and nutrition. He said students can use the iPods to photograph and document their work. " -- This demonstrates why there is such a disconnect in our classrooms... who really thinks any child will think of his/her iPod as anything other than personal music player?

Why isn't Congress trying John Edwards instead of Roger Clemens?
