Online headline/story: "George Zimmerman Medical Report Released, Faces Possible Hate Crime Charge * According to a medical report from George Zimmerman's family physician, the neighborhood watch volunteer was diagnosed with lacerations to the back of his head, a "closed fracture" of his nose, a pair of black eyes and a minor back injury the day after his fatal confrontation with Trayvon Martin, * Law enforcement authorities said Zimmerman, who maintains he shot the teen in self-defense, told local police that Martin punched him in the face, climbed on top of him and slammed his head into the sidewalk. When the local police arrived at the scene, they found Zimmerman with a bloody nose, swollen lip and lacerations on the back of his head. * Zimmerman could face federal hate crime charges * What the government would have to prove is that Mr. Zimmerman acted out of hatred toward African Americans," said WFTV legal analyst, Bill Sheaffer * In April, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder called the teen's killing a 'tragedy' and said that the Justice Department would act decisively if it finds evidence that Martin's civil rights were violated." -- What's becoming apparent here is that medical and police reports support Zimmerman's story, and if there's a 'tragedy' here, it is that Eric Holder has commited a hate crime by accusing Zimmerman of such only because Martin was black. --- Chris "my leg is tingling" Matthews was on Jeopardy Monday, and if you ever had doubts about his brilliance, he left no doubt about his lack of comprehension of history and reality. --- L-E story: "Someone broke into a Peacock Avenue apartment last week, stealing a laptop computer and $200 sunglasses before fleeing, Columbus police said. * Police say the suspect then took a laptop worth more than $800 and the Coach sunglasses" -- Why is a computer stolen from a nice neighborhood valued at $800.00 while one stolen recently from a less than nice neighborhood was over $2,200.00 in value? seems like the opposite would be more realistic. --- L-E story: "ROGER CLEMENS: The former Yankee’s longtime strength coach testified Tuesday for a second day in the perjury trial, which pushed his running total to more than nine hours on the stand, " -- In fairness, I think every Congressman on the panel should also have to sit at the witness table and answer 9 hours of questions under oath by Rush Limbaugh. --- I liked it when P&R director Worsley decided to keep certain P&R facilities open on holidays so citizens could have access to them when they were having a holiday from work, but the idea that no plan for the Natatorium can work without an operational shortfall is not what we should be hearing from him. Was not due diligence done by looking at similar operations BEFORE the project was approved? And the idea of leasing it out at $1.00 a year is ludicrous... If there is no feasible plan that allows the Natatorium to be self-supporting as a public facility, how can a private entity (or YMCA) be expected to operate it in a way that funds can be accumulated to maintain the facility so it's not an albatross in 10-20 years? Either come up with a plan that places the costs needed on the users, or stop construction now, and either convert the facility to another use or raze it and lick our wounds for what has been spent. --- Liberal's L-E "soundoff": "The reason the American economy is so powerful is because consumers have money. Consumers have money because of unions and people before them who made life better for the worker." -- Hmmmm, how much more affordable would GM vehicles be if the average hourly wage for workers was ONLY $45.00 (like the Japanese manufacturers) versus the $80.00 which collapsed GM until 'we' were forced by potUS Arpege to bail GM out? Ron White... where are you when we need you? --- L-E headline: "Ellen DeGeneres wins top U.S. humor prize " -- That's a joke, isn't it? --- From a L-E story on GA Power: "Georgia Power can recoup the cost of fuel from its customers, but it cannot profit from those costs" -- Huh? Is this not an oxymoronic summary of why the PSC should never give utilities rate increases? How can recouping cost of fuel NOT be profit for GA Power! --- L-E headline: "Americans spend a bit more as gas prices fall " -- Fancy that! Americans like value! Strange, too, that when Congress lowers tax rates, Congress gets more tax revenue. Congress just needs to lower its spending practices!
