Online headline/story: "Now (Notre Dame;s Coach) Kelly’s junior quarterback, his team leader, has been arrested for—among other things—allegedly resisting arrest and “kneeing” a police officer in the stomach, according to the South Bend Tribune. * And that, everyone, ends Rees’ time in South Bend. If it doesn't, Kelly has a much bigger problem on his hands. Stupid has been around a long time in college football, and coaches have no control over it. Once it happens, there are two choices: eliminate it or enable it." -- " Stupid has been around a long time in college football, and coaches have no control over it. Once it happens, there are two choices: eliminate it or enable it." Hmmm. sounds familiar...all too familiar. Bet our MCSD board would enable the quarterback to get back his position no matter what the Coach wants to do. --- potUS Arpege wants to tax the "rich" to give to the poor, but who's he going to tax when every one gets the same amount, and who's going to have any money left at that time? --- Online story: Study: All Blue-Eyed People are probably related - Some People Won't Like This" -- Huh? Maybe brown and hazel-eyed folks may not like it, but every blue-eyed person is probably lining up to challenge Bill Gates' will if they don't get mentioned. --- Online headline: "Blind Dissident Wants to Come to US" Just what we need...another dissident lawyer! NOT! --- Online quote service: "Change means that what was before wasn't perfect. People want things to be better." - Esther Dyson" -- That's the 'change' potUS Arpege promised, but not the 'change' he delivered. --- From a fellow BCer:
Looks like potUS Arpege will probably count this guy in as one of the jobs he's created. --- Online headline: "Substantial Number Of People Believe World Will End This Year" -- Ooops, my bad. This was a poll of potUS Arpege's appointees. --- L-E headline/story: "Court testimony reveals arson suspect's boyfriend actually saved 3 kids from burning home * During court Thursday, (boy friend) Dixon defended )mother) Bell. * "She's got mental problems," Dixon said. "Locking her up ain't going to help her out." -- DOH! Incarceration offers some relief from the criminal's normal destructive behavior, but more important, it takes the criminal out of the rest of the public's lives for a wishfully set amount of time. Of course, she'll be back in the publics' lives all too, no, much too soon. --- L-E story: "Construction is under way to reduce massive erosion along the banks of the Chattahoochee RiverWalk, a Columbus official said Thursday. * Deputy City Manager David Arrington said the bank stabilization project covers at least three blocks, from 12th Street south to Ninth Street. * "We had to do something other than to continue to repair it, which basically was no more than a temporary repair," Arrington said. "This is supposed to be more of a permanent solution." -- More good money after bad? Isn't doing the same thing over and over expecting different results the definition of insanity? Also, how many workers will this entail? I asked Mayor Obamalinson about a work detail on Broadway one morning this week, and she said they were replacing a sprinkler valve that had been broken by a car hopping the curb over the weekend (really don't understand how a car hits an underground valve, though). There were 4 City trucks, 9 employees, and 3 prisoners on the job. I then asked her why I can replace such things around my house either by myself or, at best, a single helper, but it takes 4 trucks, 9 employees, and 3 prisoners for the City to do such... Guess what, she's been speechless since. --- The MCSD board is having a meeting to question research firms to hunt for a new Superintendent. Bet the best question will be asked by the research firms: How can we tell our clients that if they get the job, the MCSD may not support your decisions ala Dr Andrews' in the dr. Crumbs fiasco? (Beginning today, the title "dr." will be used instead of "Dr." when such titles are received from digital diploma mills.) --- Music, drama, sports, public service, the arts are a great part of rounding out a students' interests and talents, but it's a shame that a teacher of core curriculum courses in the tools that give students independence and self confidence isn't selected as the MCSD Teacher of the Year. --- L-E's "Today in History": "In 1862, after a monthlong siege, Union forces prepared to unleash a massive bombardment against Confederate troops at Yorktown, Va., only to discover the Confederates had slipped away during the night. " -- Sounds like Washington still has the same head of intelligence on the payroll. --- Why does the L-E waste paper and ink comparing potUS Arpege and Mitt Romney? Like who expects a fair and balanced evaluation from the left? --- From the L-E "Late laughs": PRESIDENT OBAMA has revealed his new re-election slogan — “Forward.” That’s a good message for Obama. He’s telling voters, “Whatever you do, don’t look back at all those campaign promises I made.” - Jay Leno" -- You know, "Forward" is a slogan even I can grasp. I am so lokking "Forward" to November! --- L-E story: "A constitutional amendment allowing for the creation of state charter schools will allow for-profit businesses to take public money with no accountability, Muscogee County School Board chairwoman Cathy Williams said. * “There’s no transparency, no accountability to any public body,” Williams said ." -- Hmmmm. "There’s no transparency, no accountability to any public body,” ? That describes what we have now without charter schools. Just last week the MCSD board ran over the Superintendent on a pretty serious issue. Maybe it's time for the MCSD to have to compete for citizens' tax dollars. ---
