A conservative's daily look at the news with an aspect of "Laugh-In Looks at the News" and "Johnny Carson's monologue" twisted in.

Online story: "WASHINGTON -- Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) will not run for Congress in Washington state in 2012, * The eight-term congressman lost his reelection bid in a March primary to fellow Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio), after their seats were combined under redistricting. * For months, there had been speculation that Kucinich would move to Washington state and run for Congress there. * "After careful consideration and discussions with [my wife] Elizabeth and my closest friends, I have decided that, at this time, I can best serve from outside the Congress," -- I agree.. America will be better served with Kucinich out of Congress. In fact, America will be better served with him getting a 'regular' job and living under the regualtions he has imposed on the rest of us.

Now being a college student making a few bad decisions about binge drinking on occasion will qualify you as an alcoholic and eligible for coverage under insurance and Medicaid. The next "occupy" protesters will probably have reservations in rehab centers so they have a roof, a bed, air conditioned environment and 3 squares for as long as they need it. Who needs a job?

Is it just me or does it seem rather odd that when black businessmen/women take advantage of the education opportunities to create or lead a successful traditional business, the DIM&DUMBERats make every attempt possible to undermine their success, even to the point of calling them 'oreos' or 'Uncle Tom's' because they accomplished this with their own efforts and skills rather than accept a status of being a "victim'.

Several months ago, I signed up for a free barackobama2012 bumpersticker. The site sad it would be a couple of weeks before it was shipped. Now months later, I haven't seen it. Guess that's the first of his new campaign promises he's breaking.

L-E story: "A man police say exposed himself under a table at Chuck E. Cheese's while touching himself with children nearby admitted Wednesday to the accusation. * Kenneth D. McGhee, 22, pleaded guilty to child molestation and giving false information to an officer. Muscogee County Superior Court Chief Judge John Allen sentenced McGhee to five years in prison, followed by five years’ probation." -- What an incomplete sentence.... McGhee should be sentenced to jail, but he should be ordered under ankle bracelet arrest of the men's shower room, and if he survives, deport him rather than allow him probation in the US.

Online story: " Lakers star Kobe Bryant says he doesn't take charges, and he's got a reason for it." -- "Star"? (_@_) is more like it. If I coached another team, whomever Bryant guarded would be my main offensive force, and if I coached the Lakers, I'd be looking for a trade or cut him off the team.
This is worse than when HIV-infected Magic Johnson was still playing after his diagnosis, and if he drove the lane, the other team acted like the Red Sea when Moses spread the waters. That wasn't basketball, and what Bryant says isn't either.

WRBL News3 story: "LEE COUNTY, Ala. -- Phenix City Police Chief Ray Smith said the 20-24 students involved in the prank at Glenwood School won't face charges. * This comes after the school decided to handle the issue internally." -- What a lesson in who runs the school! No chance I'd send my student there next year. Schools should set the standard for acceptable student actions, and rid themselves of students such as these to send others the correct message.

There's a lot of 'royal' jewelry being sold by auction recently. Question: Doesn't the state of such countries own that jewelry?

My last word on donations/gifts being discussed in Edwards' case:
If it was a donation, Edwards had the responsibility to report it. If it was gift of such amount, the donor would have had to report it to IRS and pay the 50+/- % gift tax. Now, if it was a gift, why would anyone be giving a $1,000,000.00 'gift' to a multimillionaire?

Few things are as infuriating as government arrogance (as if we hadn't had our fill of potUS Arpege, Holder, Reid, Pelosi, Frank and Dood's) but yesterday morning, a speeding truck cut in front of me from the outer lane all the way through to the exit lane withoiut using his blinker.. Not so unnormal is some situations, but when the truck has a huge "Law Enforcement" sign on the side from the Dept of Natural Resources, that's a little to much.

The Natatorium situation is almost without any sense of belief.. A $17,000,000.00 facility with a projected operational loss of $600,000.00-$1,200,000.00 a year is incredulous. In 15 years the cost of the facility will be the original $17M + $9M-to-18M, and that doesn't even reflect the cost of operational increases, maintenance inflation, nor utilities!

From several fellow BCers: No doubt the picture of the month, maybe the year, decade or history.

Online headline: "The current and former president are said to have a mutual disdain and distrust for one another dating back several years." -- Well, I'll be! I never guessed I'd ever have anything in common with both potUS Clinton & potUS Arpege.

The Southern Company should have its business license to do business in the South! The half trees and slingshot trees they carve up to miss the power lines are not near as sacrilege as what I witnessed yesterday morning. Driving west on 54th Street, a saw where the GA Power tree trimmers had actually 'topped' a Magnolia! Topping a Magnolia leaves behind an even worse looking scene than topping pine trees!

Why is Columbus so high on its gas prices. A business acquaintance was in town yesterday at our place downtown, and was talking about how her Kroger discount gas card saved her 20-cents a gallon when she filleded up before coming to Columbus from fayetteville so her gas only cost $3.069 a gallon. Praise for her Kroger discount, but why is gas $3.269 in Fatetteville and barely below $3.50 in Columbus?

L-E headline: "Volunteers conducting downtown parking survey * Council requested survey to understand current parking patterns" -- Once again, the City is wasting OUR money. The only value this survey will have is if the City duplicates the survey (more money spent) in mid-September when CSU is in full swing! Now, the students have gone home following Spring semester, and their impact on parking will not be taken into the mix.

L-E story: "COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Army is replacing the first female commander of its prestigious drill sergeant school just days after it lifted her unexplained suspension. * The Army headquarters in charge of training said May 4 that Command Sgt. Maj. Teresa King was reinstated after a six-month investigation in which grounds were never revealed. * But the same office announced Wednesday there will be a change of command at the drill sergeant school at Fort Jackson, S.C., on Thursday. * King says she will remain in the Army and fight for her reputation. She has filed a complaint that she was targeted because of sexism and racism. * King, who is black, will be replaced by a man. " -- You know, I'd have a lot more interest, a lot more sympathy for Major King if she was suing on the basis that she is QUALIFIED to do that job, and not because she's a woman or black.

L-E story: "“In this state, we share the road with cars. We have the same rights, but we also follow the same rules,” said Gabe Denes of the Columbus Cycling Club. “We also want cars to recognize us as a major form of transportation.” -- Four things need to be adhered to first: Bicyclers need to use hand signals, ride single file, obey stop signs and lights, and stay off the sidewalks if they are over 12!

A fellow BCer offers this interpretation of what the ACLU acronym really stands for: Anti-Christian Liberal Unionists.

L-E headline/story: "J.C. Penney’s shares in free-fall after 1Q loss * blamed its larger-than-expected first-quarter loss on poor reception by shoppers to its strategy of getting rid of hundreds of big sales each year and offering predictable low prices every day. " -- When you led the charge of the "if it's not on sale this week, come back next week", it is not easy to change what you've gotten people use to. Sorta like feeding bears on a hiking trail... if enough people do it often enough, the bears will get upset if the next person coming behind doesn't feed them. The government welfare program is an even better analogy.

L-E story: "(Terry Library director) Bunn called St. Luke's B.R.I.D.G.E. program, which helps at-risk young adults get their Graduate Equivalency Degree, and got the date for the next class. She then registered the young man for a library card and to vote." -- How dangerous can it get when you can register to vote at the library? What skills, much less what incentives, does a library worker have at determining whether a voter registrant is actually a citizen, and eligible to vote!?
