Online headline/story: "Why Obama Reversed on Gay Marriage * The president would conduct an interview with ABC's Robin Roberts, during which he would explain how he had come to take the final step in an 18-month-long evolution of his stance on marriage equality." -- "18-month-long evolution"? More like an 18-hour-flip-flop to keep Joe Biden from looking more like the fool he is. Besides, potUS Arpege knows it's a 10th Amendment/State's rights issue, but coming out keeps his base, political and media, more in line until November and he had to have that now so the summer polls would be stronger for him. --- Online story: "CIDAHU, Indonesia — Helicopters spotted the scattered wreckage of a Russian-made passenger plane on the side of a mist-shrouded mountain Thursday after it disappeared during a demonstration flight in Indonesia with 47 people on board. There was no sign of survivors. * Russia's aerospace industry was badly undermined in the economic turmoil following the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union. * The Superjet – developed by the civil aircraft division of Sukhoi with the co-operation with Western partners – was widely considered the country's chance to regain a foothold in the international passenger plane market." -- "The Superjet.....widely considered the country's best chance to regain a foothold in theninternational plane market"? The "Superjet' will be remembered alright... as "The VOLT" of then airline industry. --- Online story: "WASHINGTON -- In his new book, former Secretary of State Colin Powell provides what may be the most authoritative confirmation yet that there was never a considered debate in the George W. Bush White House about whether going to war in Iraq was really a good idea. * By then, the President did not think war could be avoided,” Powell writes. “He had crossed the line in his own mind, even though the NSC [National Security Council] had never met -- and never would meet -- to discuss the decision.” -- While there are applications that fit the adage, "Hindsight is 20-20", it doesn't work for loyalty and courage under fire. I doesn't work for leadership either. Leadership is not throwing chaff into the air to see which way the wind is blowing. Powell just blew his image in future history books. --- Online story: "WASHINGTON -- Thousands of pieces of security equipment that cost taxpayers an estimated $184 million and were supposed to be installed at airport checkpoints to screen passengers are collecting dust in government warehouses, a joint congressional panel reported Wednesday. * "Airport Insecurity: TSA’s Failure to Cost-Effectively Procure, Deploy and Warehouse its Screening Technologies" details how 85 percent of about 5,700 security units is warehoused at a Transportation Security Administration facility in Dallas. Annual storage costs at the Transportation Logistics Center, the report noted, top $3.5 million annually." -- 85% of 5,700 security units are sitting in storage, that's over 4,800 of 5,700 hi tech equipment that will end up being door stops without ever being used before they are technically obsolete (door stops)! And we are paying an additional $3.5 MILLION annually just to store them! Enough's enough! The only defense DIM&DUMBERats will have is that they can say it is a less loss than the Solyndra loans. --- L-E headline: "Saudis are now a key ally against terrorists " -- Guess someone there woke up to the fact that the tallest, most decadent building in the world is located in Dubai. --- Guess the L-E really doesn't care about displaying its political bias anymore. The L-E eagerly goes after Kip Smith and makes sure to include his political opponent's name, stopped John House's column because he is running against Sanford Bishop, but will not add the fact that the newest L-E columnist, Karl Douglass, is a paid member of the Sanford Bishop re-election campaign. Of note, too, is Councilwoman Evelyn Turner-Pugh works for Bishop as well, and her husband is running against Ed Harbison this primary. Pathetic transparency. --- L-E headline: "FANNIE MAE EARNS $2.7B IN Q1 " -- Well, give it back to us in a form of a dividend, it's our money! ---
