Why should each land-line to one address be "taxed", and how about one fee charge for each cell phone ACCOUNT rather than each cell phone on an account?

Comment on above: Who is going to pay the $2.50 a month on "free phones" and "pre-paid burner phones"? You know, even if a cell phone has no day-to-day service, or has been disconnected, the phone can still make 911 emergency calls.. who's paying that monthly fee?

Another comment on the above story: I have 5 phone numbers on my cell phone account.. my bride, my daughters, and myself. 2 of my daughters reside out-of-town.. are their cities going to get that fee for their 911 services?

Another issue in the same L-E story above: " • Action or legislation that would ensure that all the sales taxes collected in and due to Muscogee County would be remitted, whether that includes audits, privatizing sales tax collections or allowing local governments to collect and audit local sales tax collections." -- Two things.. is accounting for taxes due a current issue, and why does Council want "audit" power here, yet denies forensic audits on how taxes are spent?

You know, before any new.. in fact before any more fees are collected on any phone, there should be publication of how many phones there are.. Let's just parse the numbers a bit.. we have 65,000 households. If half of those have a single land lines, that would be 32,500  times $30.00 annually which would generate almost $1,000.000.00 in 911 fees (throw in businesses, and the totals soar). And cellphones.. (do you know anyone over 12 who doesn't have one? With more than 200,000 people in Columbus, and sya 90% have cell phones, that would be another $5,400,000.00  in fees. Combined, we're talking $6,400,000.00 in phones fees for the 911 Service Center.  Two things should be assured,, that this much money is needed, and that all fees be guaranteed to be spent or the 911 Service Center and if such amounts exceed direct 911 Service Center costs, than either the fee rate be reduced, or the excess fee collections go to reduce the property taxes collected.

You know.. the problem on the field at UGA is kinda obvious.. lack of leadership.. but.. what did Richt think would happen when he pulled in an outsider at QB, and thrust him into the huddle? Players that had bumped and grinded with the team for a year or more in practice while building camaraderie with teammates  were just displaced at the whim of Richt.. and I predict that promising QB talent will not be eager to put themselves into a program that might just do the same to them in a couple of years.
